Important Safety Instructions

This owner's guide is part of the product and contains vital information about safety, use, and disposal. Familiarize yourself with all operating and safety instructions before use. Keep all documents for future reference and pass them on with the product to any future owner. Visit www.vornado.com for the most current version.

Intended Use

This product is intended to heat and circulate air in indoor living spaces only. It is not intended for commercial, industrial use, or in bathrooms, laundry areas, or similar damp locations. Unauthorized use or product modification voids the warranty.

General Warnings

When using electrical appliances, always follow basic precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury:

Risk to Children and Impaired Persons

Extreme caution is required for operation, cleaning, and maintenance by or around children 12 years and younger, individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or when the heater is left unattended. Supervise children to ensure they do not play with the appliance or its parts.

Installation Warnings

  • Heaters have hot and arcing/sparking parts. Do not use in areas with gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids.
  • Do not use in RVs, boats, or during applications where battery power is converted to AC power.
  • Place the product at least 3 feet away from electrical outlets, furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, curtains, and other objects that could cause or catch fire. Keep away from beds to prevent objects like pillows or blankets from falling and igniting.
  • Do not place the heater on soft surfaces (like beds) where air intakes or exhaust can be blocked.
  • Keep the product away from furnaces, fireplaces, stoves, or other high-temperature heat sources. Do not use in windows, on uneven or unstable surfaces, or near water.
  • Do not use on elevated surfaces like shelves or desktops; use only on the floor in an upright position.
  • The appliance, power supply, cord, and plug must not contact water. Do not use on wet surfaces or in bathtubs/showers. Position away from potential water containers. Do not use outdoors or expose to weather.
  • Do not run the cord under carpeting or cover with rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Do not route under furniture or appliances. Arrange the cord away from traffic areas to prevent tripping. Ensure the cord does not hang over edges or get crimped. Place the appliance near an accessible outlet for quick unplugging during emergencies.
  • Do not modify the product with aftermarket accessories.

Safe Use Warnings

  • Use the heater only as described in this manual. Other uses may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.
  • Exercise extreme caution when the heater is in operation. Always unplug when not in use. Unattended use is not recommended.
  • The heater is hot during use. Avoid touching hot surfaces with bare skin. Use handles when moving.
  • Always plug directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap. Do not use with surge-protected or GFCI outlets.
  • Ensure your outlet's voltage matches the rating label on the heater.
  • To reduce the risk of circuit overload, fire, and electric shock, do not operate with solid-state speed devices (like dimmer switches) or on the same circuit as other high-energy use products (vacuum cleaners, blenders, etc.).
  • Do not use with timers that automatically turn the unit on/off, as this can disable the thermal cutout safety feature.
  • Risk of fire: Do not operate a heater with a damaged cord or plug, or if it has malfunctioned, been dropped, or damaged. Discard or return for service.
  • Do not sit or stand on the product.
  • Never use the cord as a handle or yank/strain it.
  • Do not insert foreign objects into ventilation or exhaust openings, as this may cause electric shock, fire, or damage.
  • Check cord and plug connections. A loose outlet can cause overheating or fire. Ensure the plug fits tightly. Check frequently for hot plugs/outlets and discontinue use if issues are found, contacting a qualified electrician.
  • Heaters draw more current than small appliances; outlet overheating may occur.
  • The appliance has a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other). To reduce shock risk, it fits only one way in a polarized outlet. If it doesn't fit fully, reverse the plug. If it still doesn't fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this feature.
  • Before moving, servicing, cleaning, or when not in use, turn off power using controls and unplug. Grasp only the plug to disconnect. Power off and unplug if left unattended or during electrical storms.
  • If the heater stops working: It has a thermal cutout safety feature that shuts it off when overheating is detected. Refer to "RESET HEATER" instructions.
  • If the heater and other electrical products stop working simultaneously, your circuit breaker or fuse may have tripped due to overload. Consider using the low setting, running only one heater at a time, unplugging other products, or hiring an electrician for an additional circuit.

Servicing Warnings

  • Clean the product regularly as instructed. Turn off and unplug before cleaning. Do not use gasoline, thinners, solvents, or ammonia for cleaning. Refer to CLEANING instructions.
  • Do not open the appliance housing while plugged in. For shock prevention, all service/repairs must be done by a Vornado Authorized Service Center.

How to Use

Before use, check the appliance for visible damage. DO NOT USE if there is evidence of damage. Contact Vornado Air LLC at 1-800-234-0604 if any damage is found.

  1. Use the integrated handle on the back of the heater for lifting and carrying.
  2. Position the heater so airflow is not obstructed.
  3. Plug the power cord into a standard grounded wall outlet.
  4. Press the [Power Button] and select the desired Mode [Mode Button]. Next, set the thermostat to the highest setting by turning clockwise. When the room reaches the desired comfort level, turn the thermostat slowly counterclockwise until the heat cycles off.

Cleaning

Regular cleaning is recommended as the heater moves a substantial amount of air. Cleaning the exterior is recommended weekly. If service is required, return your heater to Vornado. See WARRANTY for instructions.

  1. Unplug the heater before cleaning.
  2. Use a brush attachment on a household vacuum cleaner to remove accumulated dust from the Front Outlet Grille.
  3. Use a brush attachment on a household vacuum cleaner to remove accumulated dust from the Air Inlets on the back and sides of the heater.
  4. Wipe down the entire heater with a soft, dry cloth.

[Tip] Periodically blow out the heater with pressurized air to keep the heat element and motor clear of dust, hair, and debris. This also helps eliminate unwanted odors caused by particle accumulation.

Note: Do not modify the product with any aftermarket accessory.

Storage

During the off-season or after extended periods of non-use, store your heater to ensure its longevity. Cleaning is recommended before storage.

  1. Unplug the power cord and bundle it loosely.
  2. Cover the heater or place it back in its retail carton (if available) to prevent dust accumulation.
  3. Store the heater in a cool and dry location.

Disposal

Dispose of all packaging materials in an environmentally responsible manner.

Reset Heater

Your Vornado Heater has a multilevel safety shut-off system to prevent overheating. Overheating can occur if inlets or outlets are blocked. If this happens, the system cuts power, and you must manually reset the heater.

  1. Power the heater off, then unplug the power cord.
  2. Remove any obstructions.
  3. Wait 5-10 minutes for the heater to cool down.
  4. Plug in the power cord and place the heater in the desired position.
  5. Press the [Power Button] On. The heater should now function normally.

Note: If the safety shut-off system repeatedly shuts off your heater or does not reset after following these steps, call Vornado Consumer Services at 1-800-234-0604.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause and Solution
Unit fails to power on.
  • Unit is not plugged in. Plug power cord into an electrical outlet.
  • Household circuit breaker has tripped or fuse is blown. Reset breaker or replace fuse. See IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS.
  • Ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) has tripped. GFCIs are not recommended and may cause nuisance tripping. If tripping occurs, relocate the unit to a standard wall outlet.
  • Unit has overheated. Automatic Safety Shut Off has initiated. See RESET HEATER.
  • Tip-over switch on the bottom of the unit has been tripped. Place heater on a level surface. See SAFETY FEATURES.
  • Unit is damaged or needs repair. Cease usage, unplug, and contact Consumer Service for assistance.
Unit is not producing sufficient amount of heat.
  • Ensure unit is set to High Heat and thermostat is set to the highest temperature setting.
  • Close all doors and windows to trap heat.
  • Allow unit time to fully circulate heat throughout the room; this may take several minutes.
Unit is powered on but there is no heat.
  • Press the Power button Off and unplug the unit. A cylindrical plunger is on the bottom of the unit. Push it in 4-5 times, ensuring it is not stuck. Set the unit down on a flat surface. Ensure the power cord is not underneath the unit. Plug the unit in and press the Power button On. Turn to the highest heat setting.
