Product Overview

The MEAN WELL DDR-240 series is a 240W DIN Rail type DC-DC converter designed for easy installation on DIN rails (TS-35/7.5 or TS-35/15). It features an ultra-slim width of 40mm, a 2:1 wide input voltage range, fanless operation, and a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C. The converters offer 4KVdc I/O isolation, 150% peak load capability, current sharing up to 960W (3+1 units), adjustable output voltage, and comprehensive protective functions.

This series is suitable for industrial and railway control, security systems, communication systems, and other applications requiring DC buck/boost regulation, increased system insulation, or voltage drop compensation along cables.

Functional Descriptions

DC OK Relay Contact

Contact Close PSU turns on / DC OK.
Contact Open PSU turns off / DC Fail.
Contact Ratings (max.) 30V/1A resistive load.

Current Sharing

Parallel operation is supported by connecting units in parallel (P+, P- connected mutually). The voltage difference between outputs should be minimized (less than 0.2V). The total output current must not exceed 0.9 times the sum of the rated currents of the units. Maximum 4 units can be paralleled. A minimum output load of 3% of the total output load is required for parallel operation.

Remote ON-OFF Control

The power supply can be turned ON/OFF using the "Remote ON-OFF" function.

Input Fuse

An internal fuse protects against abnormal surges. Fuse specifications vary by model:

Input Under-Voltage Protection

If the input voltage drops below Vimin, the internal control IC shuts down the output. Operation resumes when the input voltage rises above Vimin. Curves are provided for DDR-240B-24, DDR-240C-24, and DDR-240D-24 showing Turn On and Turn Off voltage thresholds.

Input Reverse Polarity Protection

A MOSFET in series with the negative input line prevents damage if the input polarity is reversed; the MOSFET opens, stopping output.

Inrush Current

An inrush current limiter resistor is used during startup, bypassed by a MOSFET after startup to reduce power consumption.

Hold-up Time

Hold-up times vary based on the model and load conditions. Figures are provided for different models (DDR-240B-24, DDR-240B-48, DDR-240C-24, DDR-240C-48, DDR-240D-24, DDR-240D-48) showing load percentage versus time in milliseconds.
