Controlling Other Devices
To control other devices with your U-Verse TV Remote Control, you must program it to recognize the types of devices you have. Section 1 guides you through this process. After completing Section 1, the volume and channels will consistently control the U-verse TV Receiver, regardless of the remote's mode. If you wish to alter this behavior or have the POWER key affect multiple devices, follow the steps in Section 2. To reset any settings, refer to Sections 3 and 4.
1. Programming the Remote to Control Other Devices
To use the U-verse TV remote control for your other devices, you need to program one or more of the TV, DVD, or AUX buttons at the top of the remote. There are two methods:
- Method A: Manually - Use this method if your device is listed in the Manufacturer Code List at the end of this manual.
- Method B: Using the Automatic Search - Use this method if your device is not listed in the Manufacturer Code List.
Note: The AUX button can be programmed to operate a VCR, Home Theater In A Box (HTIB), Receiver, or Amplifier.
A. Manually
- Power on the device you want to program.
- Locate the 4-digit setup code for your device from the Manufacturer Code List in this manual. If your device is not listed, use Section B (Automatic Search). If multiple codes are listed for your device, you may need to repeat steps 2-7 to find the correct one.
- Press and hold the appropriate mode key (TV, DVD, or AUX) on the remote control for the device you want to program.
- While holding the mode key, press the OK key.
- Release both the mode key and the OK key. All mode keys should flash twice. You have 10 seconds to proceed to step 6.
- Enter the appropriate 4-digit setup code for your device using the number keys (0-9) on the remote.
- If the mode key flashes three times, a correct code has been entered.
- If the mode key gives a long flash, an invalid code was entered. Start over at step 3.
- If all mode keys give a long flash, the remote control has timed out. Start over at step 3.
- Point the remote control at the programmed device and press the POWER key once. The device should turn off. If it does not, repeat steps 2 through 6, trying each code for your brand until the correct one is found.
