Uni-Trend guarantees the product against defects in material and workmanship for one year from the purchase date. This warranty excludes damage from accident, negligence, misuse, modification, contamination, or improper handling. Uni-Trend is not responsible for any special, indirect, incidental, or subsequent damage or loss caused by using the device.
Safety Instructions
- Use the product indoors, away from wind.
- When moving to a new environment, turn on the product and allow it to stabilize for 10-15 minutes before measuring.
- Ensure stable ambient temperature for measurements; avoid areas with large airflow (e.g., fans, air outlets).
- If the measured object originates from an environment with a significant temperature difference, allow it to acclimate to the measurement environment for 10-30 minutes.
- The product features a self-calibration function. If readings fluctuate rapidly, wait for them to stabilize.
- After measuring objects at extremely high or low temperatures, allow the product to rest for 10 minutes before the next measurement.
- Avoid using the product in direct sunlight or areas with strong electromagnetic interference.
- Do not use the product in flammable, explosive, steamy, wet, or corrosive environments.
- Discontinue use if the product is damaged or modified to prevent inaccurate measurements.
- Use the correct emissivity setting for accurate temperature readings.
- For optimal accuracy, warm up the product for 10-15 minutes before measuring if it has not been used for a long time.
- Avoid taking measurements while the product is charging or immediately after, as internal temperature rise can affect accuracy.
Device Structure
The UTi165A+ is a handheld thermal imager. Key components include:
- 1. SD card slot: For storing images.
- 2. USB (Type-C) interface: For data transfer and charging.

Display
The device features a 2.8-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 320 (vertical) x 240 (horizontal) pixels. The display shows the thermal image, including:
- Center point temperature: Real-time temperature at the center of the screen.
- Maximum temperature: The highest temperature detected.
- Minimum temperature: The lowest temperature detected.
- Temperature bar: Visual representation of the temperature scale.
- Battery status: Indicates remaining battery life.
- Date and time: Current date and time.
- Region of Interest (ROI): Allows users to define specific areas for temperature analysis.
- Calibrating indicator: Shows when the device is calibrating.
The display can show thermal images, visual light images, or a fusion of both, allowing users to select different blending ratios.
Power On/Off
To turn the device on or off, press and hold the [Power button] for approximately 3 seconds. The shutdown process takes 5-6 seconds. Avoid rapid on/off cycling to prevent damage.
Menu Introduction
The device is operated via a menu system accessible using the navigation buttons ([Up button], [Down button], [Left button], [Right button]) and the [SET button] for confirmation.
5.1 Measurement
This menu allows users to configure measurement parameters:
- Press the [SET button] to open the main menu.
- Use the [Left/Right button] to select the desired option.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the Measurement menu.
- Select from options like Center Spot (for single point measurement), HiLo Spot (for maximum and minimum temperature measurement), or ROI (Region of Interest).
- Press the [SET button] to enable or disable the selected measurement tool.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
5.2 Palette
Users can select different color palettes to visualize thermal data:
- Press the [SET button] to open the main menu.
- Use the [Left/Right button] to select the Palette option.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the Palette menu.
- Use the [Up/Down button] to choose a desired palette (e.g., Iron, Rainbow, White Hot, Red Hot, Black Hot, Lava, Rainbow HC).
- Press the [SET button] to apply the selected palette.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
5.3 Point Temperature
This feature allows users to measure the temperature at specific points on the thermal image:
- Press the [SET button] to open the main menu.
- Use the [Left/Right button] to select the point measurement option.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the Point Temperature menu.
- Use the [Up/Down button] to select the desired point (e.g., Point 1, Point 2, Point 3).
- Press the [SET button] to activate the point and display its temperature on the thermal imaging page.
- Use the [Left/Right/Up/Down button] to move the selected point on the image.
- Press the [SET button] again to confirm the point's position and read its temperature.
- Press the [SET button] to turn off the point.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
5.4 Image Mode
Select how the thermal and visual data are displayed:
- Press the [SET button] to open the main menu.
- Use the [Left/Right button] to select the Image Mode option.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the Image Mode menu.
- Choose from Thermal (infrared image only), Digital (visual light image only), or Fusion (blended image).
- Press the [SET button] to apply the selected mode.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
When Fusion mode is selected, users can adjust the blending ratio from 0% (pure visual light) to 100% (pure infrared) using the [Left/Right button].
Settings
Access the Settings menu by pressing the [SET button] from the main menu and navigating to the Settings option.
5.5.1 Language
To set the display language:
- Navigate to the Language option in the Settings menu.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the Language submenu.
- Use the [Up/Down button] to select between English and Chinese (中文).
- Press the [SET button] to confirm.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
5.5.2 Date and Time
To set the device's date and time:
- Select the Date and Time option in the Settings menu.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [Left/Right button] to select the parameter to adjust (Date or Time).
- Press the [SET button] to enter adjustment mode.
- Use the [Up/Down button] to increase or decrease the value.
- Press the [SET button] to save the changes and return to other parameters.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
5.5.3 Temperature Unit
To set the temperature unit (°C or °F):
- Select the Temperature Unit option in the Settings menu.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [Up/Down button] to select either °C or °F.
- Press the [SET button] to confirm.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
5.5.4 HI/LO Alert
Configure high and low temperature alerts:
- Select the HI/LO Alert option in the Settings menu.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [Up/Down button] to select the desired option (HI or LO).
- Adjust the temperature parameter for HI or LO alerts.
- Select other options to turn the alerts on or off.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
5.5.5 Measurements
Adjust measurement-related settings, such as emissivity:
- Select the Measurements option in the Settings menu.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the submenu.
- Select Emissivity.
- Press the [SET button] to enter adjustment mode.
- Use the [Up/Down button] to increase or decrease the emissivity value.
- Press the [SET button] to save the current setting.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
Refer to the "Common Emissivity" section for emissivity values of various materials.
5.5.6 Display Brightness
Adjust the screen brightness:
- Select the Display Brightness option in the Settings menu.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [Up/Down button] to select the desired brightness level (Low, Medium, High).
- Press the [SET button] to confirm.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
5.5.7 Auto Power Off
Set the device to automatically power off after a period of inactivity:
- Select the Auto Power Off option in the Settings menu.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [Up/Down button] to select the desired interval (5 Minutes, 10 Minutes, 30 Minutes, or Off).
- Press the [SET button] to confirm.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
5.5.8 USB Mode
Configure the USB connection mode:
- Select the USB Mode option in the Settings menu.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [Up/Down button] to select either USB Disk or USB Camera.
- Press the [SET button] to confirm.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
USB Disk mode allows browsing and analyzing data on a PC. USB Camera mode enables real-time image projection on a PC.
5.5.9 Auto Save
Enable or disable automatic image saving:
- Select the Auto Save option in the Settings menu.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the submenu.
- Use the [Up/Down button] to select Yes or No.
- Press the [SET button] to confirm.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
Do not remove or insert the SD card while saving images. It is recommended to save no more than 1000 pictures to maintain performance. Clean the SD card periodically.
5.5.10 System Settings
Access system-level settings:
- Select the System Settings option in the Settings menu.
- Press the [SET button] to enter the System Settings submenu.
Device Information
View details about the device:
- Select the Device Information option.
- Press the [SET button] to view model, version, capacity, and free space.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
Device capacity refers to the SD card storage.
Factory Reset
Restore the device to its factory default settings:
- Select the Factory Reset option.
- Press the [SET button] to enter.
- Select Yes to confirm.
- Press the [SET button] to execute the reset.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
Do not interrupt the factory reset process.
Format SD Card
Format the inserted Micro SD card:
- Select the Format SD Card option.
- Press the [SET button] to enter.
- Select Yes to confirm.
- Press the [SET button] to format the card.
- Press the [Back button] to exit.
Do not remove the SD card or perform other operations during formatting to avoid errors.
Operating Instructions
6.1 Image Capture
To capture an image:
- Pull and release the [Trigger] to capture an image.
- In manual save mode, pull and release the [Trigger] again to save. Alternatively, use the [Left/Right button] to discard or save, then press [SET button] to confirm or [Back button] to return.
- In auto save mode, the image is saved automatically.
Images can only be saved if an SD card is installed.
6.2 Image Viewing
To view saved images:
- Press the [Replay button] to enter the gallery.
- Use the [Up/Down/Left/Right button] to select an image.
- Press the [SET button] to view the image in full screen.
- In full screen mode, press the [SET button] to access options like delete or view information. Use the [Left/Right button] to switch between images.
Do not remove or insert the SD card while viewing images.
6.3 Flashlight/Warning Light
Press and hold the [Flashlight button] for 3 seconds to turn the LED flashlight on or off. The LED light will flash if a high temperature alert is active and the measured temperature exceeds the set threshold.
Do not point the flashlight directly into the eyes of people or animals.
6.4 USB Communication and Image Projection
- Download and install the PC software (refer to UNI-T Documents Download Operation Guide).
- Connect the device to the PC using the USB cable.
- Set the USB mode to "USB Disk" to browse and analyze images via the PC software, or "USB Camera" for real-time image projection.
- Consult the PC software's Help section for detailed usage instructions.
Do not unplug the USB cable during image projection. Close the PC software before unplugging the cable.
6.5 SD Card
The device supports Micro SD cards for image storage. Regularly back up data and clean the SD card to maintain performance. Avoid repeatedly inserting or removing the SD card to prevent data corruption; do so only when the device is turned off.
6.6 Charging
Use a certified 5V/1A or 5V/2A power adapter for charging. Avoid turning off the product during charging. If a restart is necessary, unplug the Type-C cable and disconnect the power supply first.
