FIBARO Smoke Sensor Instruction Manual

Introduction

This document provides instructions for the FIBARO Smoke Sensor, a smart home device designed for fire detection and temperature monitoring.

Functional Features

The FIBARO Smoke Sensor offers multiple functionalities:

  • Smoke Sensor: Detects smoke for fire alerts.
  • Temperature Sensor: Monitors ambient temperature.
  • Signal Alarm: Provides audible alerts.
  • Light Alarm: Provides visual alerts via an LED indicator.

Starting the Device

Follow these steps to prepare the Smoke Sensor:

  1. STEP 1: Twist and open the casing.
  2. STEP 2: Take off the casing.
  3. STEP 3: Remove the battery blocker labeled "I'm ready".
  4. STEP 4: Check if the battery is placed correctly. A 'Beep!' sound ? will be heard, and the LED diode will blink red, indicating an alarm signal.
  5. STEP 5: Close the casing. Note: The device cannot be closed without the battery.

Adding to Home Center

Your Smoke Sensor is ready to be added to your FIBARO Home Center. Ensure the Smoke Sensor is within range of the Home Center for direct communication.

Start Inclusion Mode

  1. STEP 6: Open the FIBARO application on your smartphone and navigate to Settings.
  2. STEP 7: Press "Add device".
  3. STEP 8: Press "Next" to initiate the device pairing wizard.

Add Your Device

STEP 9: Quickly triple-click the button on the Smoke Sensor to add it to the system.

Processing Configurations

The device is being configured. Please wait...

Wake Up the Device

Note: Waking up the device is not always required and may be omitted automatically.

STEP 10: Press the button to wake up the device for proper configuration.

Device Added

STEP 11: Name the device and assign it to a room within the application.

Network Range Test

It is recommended to verify the device's network range with your Home Center.

  1. STEP 12a: Hold the button for 3 seconds. You should hear a short signal, and the LED diode will blink white.
  2. STEP 12b: Release the button.
  3. STEP 13: Press the button again when the indicator glows pink. The LED diode color will indicate the network quality.
  4. STEP 14: Press the button to exit the testing mode.

LED Indicator Colors for Network Quality:

  • Green: Direct communication [✔️]
  • Yellow: Routed communication [?]
  • Purple: Limited communication [❗]
  • Red: No signal! The device will not work correctly! [❌]

Installation

During installation, it is recommended to wake up the device.

General installation guidelines:

  1. Install the Smoke Sensor in all spaces prone to fire and in adjacent corridors.
  2. Maintain minimum distances:
    • From walls and other objects: 40 cm.
    • From lightning systems: 50 cm.
    • From air conditioners: 1.5 m.
  3. Install the FIBARO Smoke Sensor in the tallest part of the room.
  4. Avoid installing the device in drafty locations, areas with natural smoke or steam (e.g., above ovens or kettles), or very brightly lit spaces.

Alarm and Information Signals

The Smoke Sensor provides distinct signals for different events:

  • Fire: Three beeps every 1.5 seconds with a red light alarm.
  • Low Battery Level: A beep every 50 seconds with a yellow light alarm.
  • Damage: A beep every 50 seconds with a general light alarm.
