WARNING! At volumes below 11%, the sound will be barely audible. Setting the volume to 0% will completely mute the device, meaning you will not hear pronunciation for phrases or vocabulary learning.

Application Menu Overview

The main menu provides access to various applications:

Speech Translator:

This application is designed for translating conversations between two people speaking different languages. The Vasco Translator V4 recognizes speech and translates entire sentences into supported languages. The translated sentence is displayed on the screen and spoken aloud. A complete list of supported languages is available on the manufacturer's website.

Speech Translator (Konverzácia)

Initial Startup:

The welcome screen appears when you first launch the application. To continue, tap the 'Start' button.

The top bar contains the sharing menu and application options. The bottom bar has buttons for speech recognition. The translation box is in the center of the screen.

Language Selection:

To change the language, tap the name of the currently used language and then select the desired language from the list.

Speech Translation:

To start speech recognition, tap the microphone icon ?. You can also use the physical buttons located on the right edge of the device. The bottom button corresponds to the language on the left side, and the top button corresponds to the language on the right side of the home screen.

Speech Recognition Process:

After pressing the button, the device will start recognizing speech. Recognition stops when the device no longer hears speech – when there is silence or a long pause in speaking. By holding the button, the device will recognize speech as long as you hold it.

Sentences you speak will appear on the screen as text and will then be translated into the selected language. If pronunciation is supported for the selected language, the sentences will also be spoken aloud. Tap a sentence to have the translator read it aloud again. Press and hold a sentence to share ↗️ or delete ?️ it. You can zoom in or out on the translated text by pinching or spreading your fingers on the device screen.

Sharing:

The Vasco Translator V4 allows you to send translated texts to a chosen email address. To share a translation, open the share menu, then select the translations you want to share from the list and tap the 'Share' button.

Enter the email address to which you want to send the selected translations and tap 'Send'. Tap ❌ to exit the sharing screen.

Application Settings:

You can find additional features and application settings in the options.

Tap < to return to the main menu.

Photo Translator (Foto Prekladač)

This application is designed for translating printed text. The Vasco Translator V4 allows you to recognize text from images and translate it into your chosen language.

Initial Startup:

The welcome screen appears when you first launch the application. To continue, tap the 'Start' button.

The top bar displays flash options. The shutter is at the bottom of the screen. The center of the screen shows the camera view and language selection.

Language Selection:

Tap the 'Translate to' field and then select the target language from the list for translating text from a photo. You can change the language before or after taking the photo. The text language in the photo is detected automatically.

Taking Photos:

Point the camera lens at the text you want to translate. The photo must cover the entire text.

Autofocus:

The camera is equipped with autofocus. A clear and sharp photo is required for accurate translation. You can select the focus point yourself by tapping the relevant spot on the camera screen.

Zooming:

You can adjust zoom by pinching or spreading your fingers on the screen.

Flash:

To change flash settings, expand the flash menu located on the top bar. The flash is set to automatic mode by default.

Shutter:

To take a photo, tap the camera shutter icon ?.

Translating Text from an Image:

After taking the photo, the Vasco Translator V4 will begin to detect and translate the text. You can cancel text detection and translation by tapping ❌. If the text is not recognized, the following message will appear: "Text not recognized. Take the picture again.".

Translation Result:

The translated text will be displayed on the screen after the detection and translation process is complete.

Display Mode:

To change the display mode, tap the 'T' icon.

Zooming:

You can zoom in or out on the translated text by pinching or spreading your fingers on the device screen. You can scroll with your finger across the photo area to find the specific fragment you are looking for.

Sharing:

The Vasco Translator V4 allows you to send translations from a photo to an email address. To share a translation, open the share menu ↗️. Enter the email address to which you want to send the selected translations and tap 'Send'. Tap ❌ to exit the sharing screen.

Taking Another Photo:

Tap ❌ to exit the sharing screen. Tap < to return to the camera view. Tap < to return to the main menu.

Text Translator (Prekladač textu)

This application is designed for translating words and texts entered via speech or keyboard.

Initial Startup:

The welcome screen appears when you first launch the application. To continue, tap the 'Start' button.

The top bar displays history and application options. The bottom bar contains buttons for text input. The center area provides language selection and the translation field.

Language Selection:

The source and target languages are displayed on the language selection bar. To change a language, tap the language name and then select another language from the displayed list. You can swap the translation direction by tapping ?.

Text Input:

Keyboard:

Tap the text input field, enter the text you want to translate, and confirm with ✔️. The translated text will appear on the screen and then be translated into the selected language. If pronunciation is supported for the selected language, the phrase will also be spoken aloud. Tap the phrase to hear it again. If the keyboard icon is off, it means keyboard input is not supported for the selected language.

Speech:

Tap the microphone icon ? to start speech recognition. You can also use the physical buttons on the right edge of the device. After pressing the button, the device will start recognizing speech. Recognition stops when the device no longer hears speech – when there is silence or a long pause in speaking. By holding the button, the device will recognize speech as long as you hold it. Spoken phrases will appear on the screen as text and will then be translated into the selected language. If pronunciation is supported for the selected language, the phrases will also be spoken aloud. Tap the phrase to hear it again. Press and hold a phrase to share ↗️ or delete ?️ it. You can zoom in or out on the translated text by pinching or spreading your fingers on the device screen. Tap ⏳ to enter translation history. You can select a translation by pressing and holding it. You can share selected translations by tapping ↗️ or delete them by tapping ?️. You can zoom in or out on the translated text by pinching or spreading your fingers on the device screen.

History Management:

To share translations from history, tap ↗️, then select the translations you want to share, and tap 'Share'. To remove translations from history, tap ?️. Then select the translations you want to remove and tap 'Delete'. You can zoom in or out on the translated text in the history by pinching or spreading your fingers on the device screen.

Sharing:

To share translations, tap ↗️, then select the translations you want to share, and tap 'Share'. Enter the email address to which you want to send the selected translations and tap 'Send'. Tap ❌ to exit the sharing screen.

Application Settings:

Tap < to return to the main menu.

MultiTalk (Group Chat)

MultiTalk is an application for chatting with other users. Each user can write in their native language, and messages will be automatically translated into the languages chosen by others.

Initial Startup:

The welcome screen appears when you first launch the application. To continue, tap the 'Start' button.

The home screen includes the following functions: creating conversations, joining existing ones, and viewing the user's conversation list.

Tap 'Start chat'.

Creating a New Chat:

To start a new conversation, tap 'Start chat'.

Creating a Chat:

To create a new conversation, tap 'Start chat'. After creating the chat, a QR code and chat ID will be displayed. See: 'Inviting via Chat ID' or 'Inviting via QR Code'. To send an email invitation to the chat, tap 'Invite by email'.

Joining an Existing Chat:

To join an existing conversation, tap 'Join chat'.

After filling in the fields above, tap 'Join chat' to join the selected chat.

My Chats:

Tap the 'My Chats' button to display a list of chats you are participating in. Tap a chat name to open the chat window.

Chat Options in My List:

Tap the options button ⚙️ next to the conversation name to display more options.

Settings:

The top bar has the chat participant list icon and the chat options button. The bottom bar contains buttons for text input.

Notes:

Tap a received message to have it read aloud. If a message is not translated automatically for some reason, it can be translated using the ? icon.

Message Input:

Enter messages in your language into the chat. They will be automatically translated into the languages of the other chat participants.

Voice Message Input:

Tap the microphone icon ? to start speech recognition. You can also use the physical buttons on the right edge of the device. After pressing the button, the device will start recognizing speech. Recognition stops when the device no longer hears speech – when there is silence or a long pause in speaking. By holding the button, the device will recognize speech as long as you hold it. Spoken phrases will appear on the screen as text. If 'Automatic sending' is enabled in the application options, messages will be sent to other chat participants without additional confirmation. See: Settings.

Keyboard:

To enter a message using the keyboard, tap the keyboard icon ⌨️, then enter the text you want to send, and confirm with ✔️ or ▶️. Keyboard input is not supported for some languages. If the keyboard icon is off, it means keyboard input is not supported for the selected language.

Chat Participants:

Tap the participant icon ? to view the list of chat participants. Blocking and unblocking functions are available only to the chat moderator (owner).

Joining and Inviting Chat Participants:

Inviting Participants via Chat ID:

To invite a participant using the chat ID, tap 'Add Participant' and then send or show the chat ID to the user you want to add to the chat. The 'Add Participant' option is available on the empty chat screen and in the participant list. You can also go to 'Chat Info'. See the topic 'Start Chat, Chat Screen, and Chat Options'.

Joining via Chat ID:

To join a chat using the chat ID, select 'Join chat' on the home screen and enter the chat ID shared with you in the 'Chat ID' field. Enter your nickname in the 'Username' field and select the language from the list in the 'Your language' field, then tap 'Join chat'.

Inviting Participants via QR Code:

To invite a participant using a QR code, tap 'Add Participant' and then show the QR code to the user you want to add to the conversation. The 'Add Participant' option is available on the empty chat screen and in the participant list. You can also go to 'Chat Info'. See: 'Start Chat, Chat Screen, and Chat Options'.

Joining via QR Code:

To join a chat via QR code, select 'Join chat' on the application's home screen and tap 'Scan QR code'. Aim the camera lens at the QR code you received. If the QR code is recognized correctly, the application will automatically enter the chat ID into the 'Chat ID' field. After reading the QR code, enter your nickname in the 'Username' field and select the language from the list in the 'Your language' field, then tap 'Join chat'.

Inviting Participants via Email:

To invite a user via email, tap 'Add Participant' and then 'Invite by email'. After selecting this option, enter the invited person's email address and the language they speak. After entering this information, click 'Add to list' to add the entered email address. If necessary, you can add other people's addresses in the same way. Send the invitation by tapping 'Send email'.

Invited users will receive an email with the chat ID and QR code, which will allow them to join the chat. Tap < to return to the main menu.

Learning App (Učenie)

This application is designed for learning vocabulary. Learning is possible without internet access. Lessons are compiled based on word categories and their difficulty level. The basic vocabulary is updated regularly.

Initial Startup:

The welcome screen appears when you first launch the application. To continue, tap the 'Start' button and then select the language you want to learn.

The top bar offers application options. The introductory screen displays a counter of completed lessons. Tapping the flag below shows the list of languages, then select the language you want to learn.

Language Selection:

To change the language you want to learn, tap the flag in the center of the screen, scroll the list, and tap the appropriate flag. You can also change the language by selecting the 'Language to learn' option in the application settings. Languages you have already started learning, and information about your learning progress, will be displayed at the top of the list.

Lesson:

Tap 'Lesson' to start learning. First, words in your language will appear, followed by words in the language you are learning. You can change the order of languages by tapping 'Direction' in the application settings. You can change the learning order in the application options. To learn a word in the language you are learning, tap the ? icon. The word will be spoken automatically. If you correctly guessed the meaning of the word, tap 'Know' or swipe the card to the right.

If you do not know the meaning of a word, tap 'Don't know' or swipe the card to the left. Words you did not know will appear in later lessons.

After completing a lesson, a list of results will be displayed. You can change the learning status of a word by tapping the ? icon next to it. Continue by tapping 'OK'. To continue learning, select 'Next lesson' or return to the home screen.

To interrupt a lesson, tap ❌ on the top bar. Interrupting a lesson will cause you to lose progress in that lesson.

My Progress:

'My Progress' displays learning progress statistics and a list of words marked as known. Tapping a word from the list will show a note displaying the word in both languages. If you want this word to appear again in future lessons, tap 'Repeat'.

Application Settings:

Tap < to return to the main menu.

Device Settings:

To set up Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection, change speech speed, check for updates, or change the application language, go to 'Device Settings'.

Connection:

Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi settings allow you to activate the Wi-Fi module and select a Wi-Fi network to connect to.

WARNING: A network without a padlock icon means it is open. You do not need a password to connect to it. Please note that some open networks require additional actions, such as logging in or accepting terms and conditions. This type of network cannot be used.

Device Settings and Connectivity

Bluetooth:

Bluetooth settings allow you to activate the Bluetooth module and create a connection with a selected device. Tap the + icon to pair your device with another device or accessory.

System:

Device:

A network without a padlock icon means it is open. You do not need a password to connect to it. Please note that some open networks require additional actions, such as logging in or accepting terms and conditions. This type of network cannot be used.

Status Bar:

Current Battery Status: The ? icon and the percentage next to it indicate the battery charge status. The ⚡ icon shows that the device is charging.

Wi-Fi: The ❓ icon means the device is not connected to any Wi-Fi network. The ? icon indicates Wi-Fi signal strength and active network connection.

Bluetooth: The ❓? icon indicates that the Bluetooth module is on, but the device is not connected to another device. The ? icon shows that a connection to another device has been established.

GSM:

Sound: The ? icon indicates that the device sound is muted.

Status Bar Panel:

Swipe down on the screen to display the status bar panel. The ? icon shows the current battery status. The ? icon shows the GSM signal strength. Tap ? to enter Wi-Fi settings. The ❌ icon indicates that the Wi-Fi module is off. Tap ? to turn the flashlight on/off. Use the slider ? to set the correct volume level. Use the slider ? to set the correct brightness level. Swipe up on the screen to hide the status bar panel.

Additional TTS Voices

This feature allows you to download and install additional voices for selected languages.

Voice Purchased with Translator:

TTS voices are not available in all languages. If you purchased a voice with your translator, you do not need to do anything else. It will be pre-installed on the device we send you, and translations will be read aloud after selecting the language.

Purchasing Additional Voices:

Purchasing a TTS Voice:

If you already own a Vasco translator and wish to purchase an additional voice, visit the Vasco Electronics store website and add your chosen voice to your cart. After payment, you will receive an email with an activation code and installation instructions.

Activating TTS Voice on the Device:

To download and install an additional voice, navigate to Device Settings in the main menu and select "Additional pronunciations".

Activating TTS Voices

Tap the "Enter code" button to enter the code using the keyboard or scan it with the camera. After entering the code, tap "Activate". If you entered the code correctly, the voice will be automatically downloaded and installed on your device. The download time for a single voice depends on your internet connection speed and may take approximately 15-20 minutes. You can continue to use the translator during the download, but do not turn off the device.

WARNING! You can only download voices via a Wi-Fi network. Before entering the code on the device, ensure you are connected to the network.
