Follow these instructions to replace the front frypot insulation in the Taco Bell FilterQuick Touch Gas Fryers.
Tools Required:
- 3/32" Allen Wrench
- Wobble 3/8" extension for a Ratchet (15")
- O2 Sensor Socket
- 7/16" Wrench
- 5/8" Wrench
- 1/4" Socket Set
- 1/4" Nut Driver
- 1/4", 5/16", 7/16" for drill/driver

Instructions
- Drain the oil from the affected frypot to the filter pan.
- Disconnect power from the electrical power supply.
- If a guard rail is installed, remove the acorn nuts, washer, and plates on both ends of the guard. (See description of Figure 1: shows removal of guard rail components).
- Slide one end of the guard up the rail at an angle until it can be removed. (See description of Figure 2: shows the guard being slid upwards).
- Remove the two Phillips head screws from the upper left and right corners of the controller. (See description of Figure 3: shows screw removal from controller corners).
- Slide the controller up to disengage it from the bezel. (See description of Figure 4: shows controller being slid upwards).
- Lift the controller out from the bezel. (See description of Figure 5: shows controller being lifted out).
- Lower the controller and rest it on the bottom of the control box. The black tether on the right will support the controller. (See description of Figure 6: shows controller positioned in the control box).
- Disconnect the RJ45 cable from the SIB board FIRST. (See descriptions of Figures 6 and 7: show cable disconnection).
- Disconnect the other cables from the connectors on the back of the controller, marking their position for reassembly. (See description of Figure 8: shows various cables being disconnected).
- Disconnect the lanyard tether. (See description of Figure 9: shows lanyard tether disconnection).
- Remove the controller and set aside.
- Remove the bezel by removing the two 5/16" screws on the bottom of the bezel and tilting the bezel up from the bottom and lowering towards the front of the fryer. (See descriptions of Figures 10 and 11: show bezel screw removal and tilting).
- Open the doors of the fryer and locate the blower. (See description of Figure 12: shows the blower location).
- Disconnect the two (2) wire blower wiring harness. (See description of Figure 13: shows harness disconnection).
- Use a 7/16" driver with extension to remove the four (4) nuts attaching the blower. (See description of Figure 14: shows nuts being removed).
- Remove the blower exposing the gasket. Remove the gasket. (See description of Figure 15: shows blower removal and gasket exposure).
- Remove USB port assembly, if replacing insulation on the left fryer, or the JIB reset switch assembly, if replacing insulation on the right fryer. (See descriptions of Figures 16 and 17: show these assemblies).
- Remove the ignition module covers by removing the two (2) screws securing the cover. (See description of Figure 18: shows cover screw removal).
- Remove the two screws attaching the ignition modules at the bottom of the control box. (See description of Figure 19: shows module screw removal).
- Slide the module towards the rear of the control box until it can be lowered.
- Disconnect the harnesses and cables from the modules and set aside.
- Remove the plenum by removing the two (2) nuts and two (2) screws on lower tabs securing the plenum. (See description of Figure 20: shows plenum fasteners).
- Remove the plenum by sliding towards the front of the fryer. (See description of Figure 21: shows plenum sliding).
- Reach up behind the component box and disconnect the 12-pin gray harness and 15-pin black harness from the rear of the component box. (See descriptions of Figures 22 & 23: show harness connectors).
- Carefully disconnect the 3-pin ATO and 2-pin cook probes from the SIB board. (See description of Figure 24: shows probe disconnection).
- Pull the wires through the rear of the component box.
- Remove the screws on both sides of the component box that attach it. (See description of Figure 25: shows component box screws).
- Gently lower the component box down and out of the way, exposing the probes on the front of the frypot. (See description of Figure 26: shows component box lowered).
- Remove the AIF probe (denoted by an "A") and the ATO probe (denoted by an "T") from the frypot. (See description of Figure 27: shows probe removal).
- Gently pull the probe wires out of the component box and set probes aside. (See description of Figure 28: shows wire pulling).
- Remove the cook probe (denoted by an "C") using a O2 slotted socket or a 7/8" open end wrench. (See description of Figure 29: shows cook probe removal).
- Remove the screw attaching the upper foam deck L-bracket insulation holder, directly above the cook probe port. (See description of Figure 30: shows insulation holder screw removal).
- Remove the screws attaching the heat shields and the upper frypot insulation holder. (See description of Figure 31: shows heat shield and insulation holder screws).
- Remove the two (2) screws from the other side of the shield between the frypots and set shield aside. (See description of Figure 32: shows shield screw removal).
- Remove the high voltage cables from the ignitors and set aside. (See description of Figure 33: shows high voltage cable disconnection).
- Remove the upper two (2) screws off the bottom insulation cover. (See description of Figure 34: shows bottom cover screws).
- Remove the spacers and red washers from the shafts and set aside. (See description of Figure 35: shows spacers and washers).
- Disconnect the gas line from the left burner and slide out of way and under the drain. (See description of Figure 36: shows gas line disconnection).
- Loosen the two (2) 3/32" Allen screws on the actuator and slide the actuator off the drain valve. (See description of Figure 37: shows actuator removal).
- Remove the four (4) lower nuts off the lower insulation cover. (See description of Figure 38: shows lower nuts).
- Gently lift up and slide the cover and insulation forward off the frypot. (See description of Figure 39: shows cover and insulation removal).
- Separate and remove the insulation from the cover using a utility knife. (See description of Figure 40: shows insulation separation).
- Remove the two (2) center screws from the upper insulation retainer cover. (See description of Figure 41: shows retainer cover screws).
- Using a screwdriver, bend out the four (4) tabs from the upper insulation retainer cover. (See descriptions of Figures 42 & 43: show tab bending).
- Remove the upper insulation retainer cover. (See description of Figure 44: shows retainer cover removal).
- Remove the upper insulation from the frypot. Remove any remaining pieces of insulation. (See descriptions of Figures 45 & 46: show insulation removal).
- Carefully bend and straighten all the retaining tabs to ease reassembly. (See description of Figure 47: shows tab straightening).
- Place the new upper insulation against the new upper insulation retainer cover and carefully put into place. (See description of Figure 48: shows new insulation placement).
- Attach the upper cover with the two (2) center screws first. (See description of Figure 49: shows upper cover attachment).
- Bend the tabs over the upper insulation cover and reattach the tabs to the cover using drill point screws. NOTE: It may be necessary to create new holes. (See description of Figure 50: shows tab bending and screw attachment).
- Reattach the heat shield between the frypots. (See description of Figure 51: shows heat shield reattachment).
- Reattach the outer heat shield between the frypot and fryer side. (See description of Figure 52: shows outer heat shield reattachment).
- Insert the foam deck insulation that is supported with the heat shields. (See description of Figure 53: shows foam deck insulation insertion).
- Attach the "L" bracket that supports the foam deck insulation. (See description of Figure 54: shows "L" bracket attachment).
- Reconnect the ATO probe in the port marked with a "T". Tighten compression fitting to 200-inch lbs. (See description of Figure 55: shows ATO probe reconnection).
- Clean the threads and put a small amount of Loctite® sealant around the first several threads of the cook temperature probe. (See description of Figure 56: shows probe preparation).
- Reconnect the cook temperature probe in the port marked with a "C" and tighten. (See description of Figure 57: shows cook probe reconnection).
- Reconnect the AIF probe in the port marked with a "A". Tighten compression fitting to 200-inch lbs. (See description of Figure 58: shows AIF probe reconnection).
- Move the component box back up into position but DO NOT REATTACH at this point. (See description of Figure 59: shows component box positioning).
- Carefully push out the unnecessary parts of the lower insulation. (See description of Figure 60: shows insulation trimming).
- Using a boxcutter or knife, cut a slit between the inner circle to the opening as shown. (See description of Figure 61: shows insulation slit cutting).
- Lay the insulation over the lower insulation cover and slide the temperature probe harness through the slit in the insulation. (See description of Figure 62: shows harness routing).
- Carefully place the lower insulation cover back into place on the frypot. Secure into place by attaching one of the lower nuts to hold in place. (See description of Figure 63: shows lower cover placement and initial securing).
- Secure the lower cover with the two (2) upper screws. (See description of Figure 65: shows upper screws).
- Attach and tighten all four (4) lower nuts. (See description of Figure 66: shows lower nut tightening).
- Insert temperature probe and ATO probe harnesses into the rear of the component box as shown. (See description of Figure 67: shows harness insertion).
- Reattach the component box using four (4) screws on the left and right sides of the box. (See description of Figure 68: shows component box reattachment).
- Reconnect the ATO and COOK probes to the SIB board. (See description of Figure 69: shows probe reconnection to SIB board).
- Reattach the actuator to the drain valve. (See description of Figure 70: shows actuator reattachment).
- Reattach the gas line from the left burner. (See description of Figure 71: shows gas line reattachment).
- Slide the plenum gaskets and spacers over the upper shafts. (See description of Figure 72: shows gasket and spacer placement).
- Reattach the plenum with the two outer nuts and lower tab screws. (See description of Figure 73: shows plenum reattachment).
- Reattach the black main 15-pin harness to the top plug on the rear of the component box. Pin 1 (denoted by the tab) is in the lower right corner. (See description of Figure 74: shows 15-pin harness connection).
- Reattach the gray 12-pin harness to the bottom plug on the rear of the component box. Pin 1 (denoted by the tab) is in the lower right corner. (See description of Figure 75: shows 12-pin harness connection).
- Attach the white sense wire to the S1 Sense location on the modules first. (See description of Figure 76: shows sense wire attachment). The black connector attaches with the groove towards the module. (See description of Figure 77: shows black connector orientation).
- Slide the module bracket through the slots on the rear of the component box. Attach the module bracket with the two (2) small drill screws WITHOUT POINTS. (See description of Figure 78: shows module bracket attachment).
- Attach the high voltage cables to the module and ignitor. (See description of Figure 79: shows high voltage cable attachment).
- Use zip ties to secure the wires. (See description of Figure 80: shows wire securing).
- Reattach module covers. (See description of Figure 81: shows cover reattachment).
- Ensure all wiring is out of the way of the blower mount and install the blower gasket. (See description of Figure 82: shows blower gasket installation).
- Reattach the blower using the four (4) nuts. (See description of Figure 83: shows blower reattachment).
- Reconnect the two (2) wire blower wiring harness. (See description of Figure 84: shows harness reconnection).
- Reattach the USB port assembly if removed on the left side, or the JIB reset switch assembly if removed from the right side. (See descriptions of Figures 85 and 86: show assembly reattachment).
- Reattach the controller bezel using two (2) screws on the bottom. (See description of Figure 87: shows bezel reattachment).
- Reconnect the controller lanyard FIRST. (See description of Figure 88: shows lanyard reconnection).
- Reconnect the controller ground, speaker, vat ID cables. (See description of Figure 89: shows cable reconnection).
- Reconnect the RJ controller power cable to the SIB board. (See description of Figure 90: shows power cable reconnection).
- Reconnect the power supply prior to reattaching the controller to ensure ALL the LED's on the SIB power up and the controller powers up. (See description of Figure 91: shows power supply reconnection).
- Reattach the controller to the bezel using the two (2) screws. (See description of Figure 92: shows controller reattachment).
- Reattach the guard rails removed in steps 3 & 4. (See description of Figure 93: shows guard rail reattachment).
