Temperzone Econex Packaged Units
Temperzone's Econex Packaged systems offer a lower GWP solution with superior efficiency, designed for light to large commercial applications. These air-cooled units utilize R32 refrigerant, providing a significant reduction in Global Warming Potential (GWP) compared to traditional R410A systems.
Introduction
Econex Packaged systems offer a lower GWP solution with superior efficiency. Temperzone provides versatile air-cooled packaged solutions for your buildings, from light to large commercial applications. The use of inverter compressors allows for precise load variation response and superior part-load performance, ensuring closer comfort control and higher energy efficiency.
Utilizing R32 Refrigerant, Econex Packaged units enable a 71-81% reduction of Global Warming Potential (GWP) per kW of cooling when compared to R410a units. Temperzone aims to lead the commercial HVAC industry in reducing the global warming potential of air conditioning products.

Lower Global Warming Potential Air Conditioning
With a smaller refrigerant charge and a GWP of 675*, OPA Econex R32 refrigerant units result in a 71-81% reduction in overall GWP per kW of cooling or heating when compared to R410A systems (GWP 2088*). As higher GWP refrigerants face increasing cost due to emissions tax levies, the specification of R32 systems will represent a significant reduction in the future costs associated with owning and maintaining these systems.

Close Comfort Control
Econex Inverter compressor technology delivers precise control of indoor air temperatures for superior year-round comfort with leading energy efficiency. Unlike fixed speed air conditioners that cycle between full or no capacity, Econex units use variable capacity inverter compressors and electronic expansion valves for precise load variation and efficient response to varying conditions.
The OPA 820 to 2110 feature multiple refrigeration systems with inverter and fixed speed compressors, staged to come online as needed, enabling variable capacity control and energy-efficient operation.

Seasonal Energy Efficiency (SEER)
Superior seasonal performance is achieved with Econex Inverter technology. The Econex range, when compared to the same capacity fixed speed units, has considerably higher seasonal energy efficiency factors. Units operate the majority of the time at part load, where inverter compressors and variable speed fans are more efficient. MEPS EER condition (T1) is a single point where units rarely operate; SEER estimates real use by overlaying bin hours to show actual efficiency is better for variable speed systems.

Energy Saving Technology
Intelligent system control technology offers leading energy efficiency with precision control of the air conditioners refrigeration system. High-efficiency EC fan motors are up to 50% more energy efficient than Belt drive or AC motor alternatives, enabling quiet operation with slow ramp-up and no sudden noise changes. Achieve precise comfort with custom select fan speeds or continuously variable fan speed control.
EC Fan Technology Comparison
EC Plug Fans: Control airflow accurately and efficiently. Fan speed can also be controlled via external signals. Features include high static pressure, variable airflow operation, longer motor life, lower maintenance costs, soft start for quiet operation, and longer bearing life.
EC Condenser Fans: Increase overall efficiency. Infinitely variable fan speed control optimizes refrigeration efficiency in all climatic conditions. Features include up to 50% more efficiency than AC fan technology, high static pressure, minimized power consumption under optimized floating head pressure control, and quiet operation mode.
High Performance Design
Econex units offer extra capacity with very wide heating and cooling ranges, enabling reliable comfort at times of peak load and increased energy savings under low load conditions. These R32 packaged units are designed to operate in ambient temperatures from -15°C to 52°C* to ensure comfort in the harshest conditions.
Capacity Range and Extreme Weather Operation
Electronic Expansion Valves (EEV)
Electronic Expansion Valves (EEV's) optimize refrigeration systems by ensuring the evaporator coil is fully utilized at all times, leading to increased energy savings. Discharge pressures can be lowered based on ambient conditions by increasing the speed of the EC condenser fans, resulting in even higher savings. EEV's enable improved efficiency and reduced operating costs at part-load conditions and facilitate maximized energy savings during shoulder seasons.

Advanced & Super Dry Mode
Econex offers superior levels of Dry Modes to suit your requirements. Advanced Dry Mode and Super Dry Mode utilize optimized Dual Electronic Refrigeration Valve control (IP protected) for exceptional dehumidification performance across the units' full operation range. Advanced dry mode provides dehumidification over a wide range of operating conditions with constant indoor fan speed. Super dry cooling mode requires the UC8 controller to vary the indoor fan speed for optimal dehumidification.

Intelligent De-ice
New intelligent de-ice enables improved heating performance in colder conditions. Optimized coil circuitry and new controller logic result in fast and more effective de-ice. Econex de-ice supports full turn down of the compressor and de-ices from the top to the bottom of full height coil circuits. This design prevents excess pressure drop as the refrigerant changes phase. The system allows for controlled capacity during de-ice, aims to melt ice rather than evaporate water (requiring less energy), and extends operation intervals between de-ice cycles.
Durable Long Life Design
Econex units are designed to be highly durable and suited to the harshest environmental conditions. Temperzone's proprietary Adaptive Valve Regulation system (AVR) ensures that Temperzone inverter air conditioning systems run more efficiently and enjoy a longer operational life. AVR maximizes efficiency in both heating and cooling cycles by regulating refrigerant flow capacity, allowing the system to maintain stability and efficiency over the full range of operating conditions. AVR also prevents prolonged flooding (oil washed out of the system), improves compressor life cycle, and prevents starving (HP/LP trips and reduced EER/Duty).
Adaptive Valve Regulation
Key features of the durable design include:
- Epoxy coated coil protection for superior corrosion resistance.
- Marine grade pretreatment and polyester powder coated galvanised steel.
- Louvre Guards for added protection against severe weather, UV damage, and accidental contact.
- Sloped outdoor section for water drainage (except OPA 680).
- SKT coated screws for higher corrosion resistance than 316 stainless steel.
- Closed cell foam insulation to prevent particles in the air stream.
- Isolated compressor and electrical compartments for reduced noise and weatherproofing.
- Remove bungs to create positive pressure electrical compartment and clear dust.
Control Options & BMS Connectivity
Temperzone offers a range of control options, from advanced commercial controllers to stylish touch screen controllers, to suit your space and application. The TZT-100 thermostat is an advanced controller suited for commercial environments, delivering comprehensive control.
Econex Packaged units can connect into a Building Management System (BMS) for control and operation. Connectivity is achieved through the outdoor unit via the UC8's Modbus/RS485 port with multi-unit control capability. Daisy chain wiring saves on wiring and labor time, allowing up to 99 units to be connected on a common RS485 bus. BMS communication is via a 2-wire shielded cable with a maximum length of 1000m. Simplified BMS integration is available with Modbus or BACnet communication protocols.
