Advanced Product Features
Jam Proof System
Eliminates paper jams and powers through tough jobs. Advanced Jam Prevention electronically measures paper thickness to prevent jams:
- Up to RED: Too many sheets have been inserted.
- Up to YELLOW: Productivity is optimized.
- Up to GREEN: More sheets can be added.
If a misfeed occurs, all indicators light up, and the shredder pauses for 3-6 seconds for automatic correction. Wait for the flashing to stop before resuming regular shredding. If the indicator illuminates after reversing, press reverse again and remove paper.
SafeSense® Technology
Stops shredding immediately when hands touch the paper entry. To test:
- Turn the shredder ON (▶) to activate SafeSense®.
- Touch the test area near the paper entry.
- The SafeSense® indicator (?) should illuminate, confirming it is active and working properly.
- If a hand is held on the SafeSense® area for more than 3 seconds, the shredder will shut off.
Energy Savings System
Provides optimal energy efficiency 100% of the time, both in use and out of use. It saves energy through:
- Energy-efficient electronics.
- Jam prevention.
- Standby mode.
- Sleep mode: Shuts down the shredder after 2 minutes of inactivity.
To exit sleep mode, simply touch the control panel.
Product Maintenance
Cleaning Auto-Start Infrared Sensors
Paper detection sensors are designed for maintenance-free operation but can occasionally become blocked by paper dust. If the motor runs even without paper, clean the sensors:
- Turn off and unplug the shredder.
- Locate the auto-start infrared sensors in the center of the paper entry.
- Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol.
- Gently wipe away any contamination from the sensors.
Oiling Shredder
All cross-cut shredders require oil for peak performance. Failure to oil can lead to diminished sheet capacity, intrusive noise, and eventual shutdown. It is recommended to oil the shredder each time the waste bin is emptied.
Oiling Procedure (Repeat Twice):
- Apply oil across the paper entry.
- Press and hold the Forward (➡️) button for 2-3 seconds.
CAUTION: Only use a non-aerosol vegetable oil in a long nozzle container, such as Fellowes 35250.
Troubleshooting
- Door Open Indicator (?): The shredder will not run if the cabinet door is open. Close the door to resume shredding.
- Bin Full Indicator (?): The waste bin is full and needs to be emptied. Use Fellowes waste bag 36054.
- Remove Paper Indicator (?): Press Reverse (↩️) and remove excess paper. Reduce the quantity of paper to be shredded.
- SafeSense® Indicator (?): If hands are too close to the paper entry, the indicator illuminates, and the shredder stops. If SafeSense® is active for 3 seconds, the shredder will automatically turn off. Press the power button on the control panel to resume shredding.
- Self Cleaning Cycle: The shredder periodically cycles in forward and reverse for 3-6 seconds.
