Installation Guide
Step 1: Prepare the Door & Check Dimensions
- Door Hole Diameter: The hole in the door should be 1-1/2" or 2-1/8" (38mm or 54mm). The hole in the door edge should be 1" (25mm).
- Backset: The backset (distance from the edge of the door to the center of the large hole) must be either 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60mm or 70mm).
- Door Thickness: The door thickness should be between 1-3/8" and 2" (35mm to 50mm).
- Door Frame Alignment: Ensure the door frame is aligned with the door and that there are no obstructions stuck in the door frame.
Optional: Instructions for doors with 1-1/2" (38mm) holes
1. Test Latch Hole Extension: Temporarily install the Latch bolt. If it is stuck, you need to extend the latch hole. Extend the Latch hole at least 13/64" (5mm) deep using a 1" (25.4mm) Drill Bit for Wood.
2. Test Extended Latch Hole: Temporarily install the Latch bolt and rotate it with a screwdriver to check if it extends and retracts properly. If the Latch bolt is stuck, remove it and chisel out a small channel at the top of the hole to allow the Cam to rotate.
Step 2: Install the Latch & Strike
- Confirm Backset and Adjust Latch: Hold the Latch in front of the door hole, flush against the door edge. Check if the slotted hole is centered. If not, rotate and pull the Latch to extend it to the correct backset (2-3/8" or 2-3/4").
- Install the Latch: Insert the latch into the door hole. Secure it using the Latch Screws (I).
- Test Latch Bolt: Use a screwdriver to test if the latch bolt extends and retracts properly. Important: The latch bolt must be fully retracted (unlocked position) before installation.
- Install Strike: Install the Strike (D) on the door frame using Strike Screws (H). Important: Ensure the hole in the door frame is drilled a minimum of 1" (25mm) deep.
Step 3: Install Exterior Assembly
- Measure Door Hole Diameter: Confirm the hole diameter in the door is 1-1/2" or 2-1/8" (38mm or 54mm). If the diameter is 2-1/8" (54mm), proceed to the next step. If it is 1-1/2" (38mm), remove the spacer on the exterior assembly.
- Route Cable and Insert Torque Blade: Route the cable below the Latch and insert the Torque Blade horizontally into the Latch slot, ensuring both are level. Do not insert the Mechanical Key during installation.
- Install Mounting Plate: Install the Mounting Plate (E) using the Mounting Plate Screws (J). Ensure the plate is parallel to the door edge. Do not overtighten screws.
Step 4: Install Interior Assembly
- Disassemble Battery Cover: Remove the Battery Cover (G). Important: Do not load batteries until the lock is completely installed.
- Connect Cable: Insert the cable connector into the socket on the interior assembly. Push firmly until completely attached.
- Install Interior Assembly: Keep the Thumb Turn vertical and the Torque Blade horizontal, then install the Interior Assembly (F).
- Secure Interior Assembly: Attach the Interior Assembly to the Mounting Plate. Tighten the top two screws. Rotate the Thumb Turn to the horizontal position, then tighten the bottom screw. Use Interior Assembly Screws (K). NOTE: Ensure you use the correct screws to avoid short-circuiting or other issues.
- Test Lock Operation: Rotate the Thumb Turn to test if the latch bolt extends and retracts properly.
Step 5: Distinguish Left / Right Hand Door
Important: This step is required and crucial for the lock after installation.
- Install Batteries: Keep the door open and unlocked. Load 8 AA batteries (new, non-rechargeable Alkaline batteries only) into the Interior Assembly.
- Reset and Memorize: Press and hold the Reset Button for 5 seconds using the Reset Tool (L) until a long beep is heard. The Latch bolt will extend automatically, memorizing the door's opening direction.
Battery Removal:
- To remove outer batteries: Pull the outer 4 batteries from right to left.
- To remove inner batteries: Pull the ribbon to remove the inner 4 batteries from right to left.
How to Reset
- Keep the door open and unlocked.
- Press and hold the Reset Button for 5 seconds using the Reset Tool.
- Keep holding the Reset Button until you hear a long beep and the Latch bolt extends out automatically.

Troubleshooting
The Latch bolt keeps going in and out: Disassemble and reinstall the lock following the installation tips. Ensure the Mechanical Key is not inserted during installation, the Latch is fully retracted, the Torque Blade is horizontal, the cable is routed correctly below the Latch, and the Exterior/Interior Assemblies are parallel to the door edge.
Cannot remove key unless in locked position: Uninstall assemblies. Before re-installation, ensure the Latch bolt is retracted, the Mechanical Key is not inserted, and the Torque Blade is horizontal.
Fail to reset: If the battery indicator light flashes, the battery is low; replace with 8 new Alkaline batteries. Refer to the "How to Reset" section and perform the reset again.
Latch bolt won't extend completely after installation: Check if the Exterior Assembly is aligned parallel to the door edge and not at a crooked angle.
