Installation Guidelines

The AquaPod 10 is designed to water groups of up to 5 planted containers. The hose connecting the AquaPod to the tap should not exceed 10m. One or more drippers can be placed in each container.

AquaPods can be interconnected up to the 3rd generation. Additional AquaPods (2824) or hanging basket kits (2825) can be purchased separately, allowing up to seven additional kits to be combined with this system.

For maximum flexibility, up to 50m of 1/2" hose can be used between the tap and the hose connector (using 2 x 2166 and 1 x 2291 connectors, not supplied).

System Layout Example:

A central AquaPod 10 unit connects to a water source. From the AquaPod, micro hoses extend to individual plant pots. Additional AquaPods (2824) can be connected in series to extend the watering area. For larger areas, 10m micro hoses (2772) can be used to connect AquaPods or Plus Kits (2825) for hanging baskets.

Installation Steps

  1. Connect to Tap: Attach the tap connector (A) to your outdoor tap. Ensure a secure connection.
  2. Connect Hose: Push the 4mm micro hose (C) approximately 10mm into the fitting. If difficult, dip the hose end in warm water for 10 seconds and twist while pushing.
  3. Position AquaPod: Lay the micro hose around your patio or garden area to position the AquaPod where needed. Trim any excess hose and store it for future use. Ensure the connection is not subjected to excessive force.
  4. Prepare Drippers: Pull out the AquaPod hose to the required length and undo the dripper cap. Drippers can be closed if not needed.
  5. Rewind Hoses: AquaPod hoses can be independently rewound by rotating the end cap opposite to the inlet hose.
  6. Test System: Turn on the tap. Allow air to be expelled (may take a few minutes), then check for water emerging from the drippers.
  7. Place Drippers: Insert the drippers into the plant pots. Ensure they are securely placed to direct water to the plant roots.

Optional Floor & Wall Mounting:

The AquaPod can be positioned temporarily on the floor or screwed permanently to a wall or floor. Use wall plugs and screws (not supplied) to attach the unit securely. The dripper hose can be extended up to 1m using remaining hose from component C.

Winter Storage

The AquaPod must be stored indoors when there is a risk of freezing temperatures. Before storing, rewind all hoses, drain the AquaPod unit completely, and store it in a frost-free environment to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting Guide

ProblemSolution
The hose is difficult to fitDip end of hose into warm water for 10 seconds.
Water is leaking from the pressure regulator or the 4mm inlet to the AquaPodEnsure hose is inserted by 10mm into fitting; check fitting is screwed up hand tight.
The pressure regulator is whistling / buzzingTurn tap down by 1/2 turn. If noise persists, turn down by another 1/2 turn. For persistent problems, contact Hozelock customer service.
How do I get water to a remote area of my garden?Use good quality 1/2" hose to start the system, up to 50m from the tap.
How do I turn the drippers on and off?Turn off water to make it easier, then close the cap over the dripper outlet.
How much water should the plants be given?Watering needs depend on temperature, weather, plant type, and season. Keep compost 1cm down moist, but not waterlogged. Ensure compost drains properly. As a guide, 5 minutes, twice per day is suitable for a 30cm pot in summer. Adjust watering duration based on plant requirements.
My plants have different watering needs, how do I ensure they all get the correct amount of water?Place more than 1 dripper into pots containing plants with higher watering needs.
How can I reduce the amount of tap water I use?Combine AquaPod with Hozelock Water Store Gels to reduce water waste. Alternatively, combine with a Hozelock water butt pump to use stored water. Note: When using a water butt pump, only 6 AquaPods can be combined (compared to 9 with a mains water supply).
One of my drippers is not wateringContact Hozelock for a replacement.
My AquaPod will not rewindIf the hose is too stiff, bring the unit indoors for 15 minutes to allow the hose to soften, then rewind.
