This document provides comprehensive instructions for operating and maintaining the Elitech RC-4 and RC-4HC data loggers.
Product Description
The Elitech RC-4 series data loggers are designed for reliable temperature and humidity monitoring. The series includes two models: RC-4 (temperature only) and RC-4HC (temperature and humidity). Both models offer built-in sensors and the option for an external temperature sensor.
Device Overview
The device features a clear LCD screen for displaying readings and status, a button for operation, a USB interface for data transfer and configuration, and an optional external temperature sensor port.
LCD Screen Display Indicators:
- Power Display: ? Indicates battery status.
- Recording Status: Shows if recording is active (e.g., a flashing icon might indicate delayed start).
- Temperature/Humidity Reading: Displays current measurements.
- MAX/MIN: Indicates maximum and minimum recorded values.
- Log: Signifies that data logging is in progress.

Recorder Operation
Starting Recording ▶️
To start recording, long-press the button on the recorder for approximately 5 seconds. The screen will display an indication that data logging has begun. A flashing display may indicate a delayed start state, after which recording will commence automatically.
Stopping Recording ⏹️
While the recorder is in the active recording state, long-press the button for approximately 5 seconds. The screen will display an indication that data logging has stopped.
Data Viewing and Exporting ?️
Connect the recorder to a computer using the provided USB cable. Open the "Jingchuang Data Center" management software. Recorded data will be automatically downloaded to the computer. Navigate to the data chart interface to view recorded data and export reports in PDF, EXCEL, or other formats.
Note: If the recorder needs to restart recording repeatedly, parameters must be quickly reset or saved through the "Instrument Data Center" software.
Parameter Configuration ⚙️
- Download and install the free ElitechLog software (available for Windows and macOS) from the Elitech website (e.g., www.elitechus.com/pages/download).
- Connect the recorder to your computer using the USB cable. The recorder screen will display a " " icon.
- Open the "Jingchuang Data Center" management software.
- Navigate to the parameter configuration interface. Enter the desired parameters.
- Click "Save Parameters" to complete the configuration.
Notes:
- Do not disconnect the recorder and computer until the software confirms successful saving.
- After the first use or battery replacement, ensure you configure the parameters.
The recorder will be in standby mode, waiting for a button press to start recording.
Battery Replacement ?
To replace the battery, insert a coin into the groove on the battery cover and turn it to open. Replace the battery, ensuring correct polarity (+ facing up), and close the cover by turning it back.
Notices:
- Please do not replace the battery while the recorder is actively recording.
- After replacing the battery, be sure to reconfigure the parameters before use.

Precautions ❗
- Store the recorder at room temperature. If not used for a long time, package and store in a dry, cool environment.
- For first-time use, synchronize system time and configuration parameters using the "Data Management Center" software.
- Before starting, briefly press the button to confirm recording and status indicator lights flash once simultaneously.
- Do not remove the battery while the recorder is recording.
- The LCD screen will automatically close after 15 seconds of inactivity (default). Press the button again to wake the screen.
- Any parameter configuration via the "data management center" software will delete all recorded data. Save data before saving new configurations.
- Do not modify the equipment without authorization, as it may affect accuracy or damage the device.
- Use the device within its specified measuring range.
- Do not use the recorder for long-distance transportation if the battery is insufficient.
- Recorded data can still be read even if the battery is exhausted.
- This product uses a disposable lithium battery; do not heat or charge it directly.
- Recycle or dispose of waste products according to local regulations.
Warranty Information ?️
The warranty covers any fault caused by product quality, transportation, or manufacturing during normal use within one year from the date of purchase. Faults due to these reasons will be repaired or replaced free of charge during the warranty period.
The warranty does NOT apply if any of the following conditions are met:
- Damage caused by accident, misuse, abuse, alteration, tampering, or failure to comply with normal operation procedures.
- Defect or damage caused by food/liquid overflow or incorrect power/voltage usage.
- Damage, loss, defect, or failure caused by natural events (fire, flood, animal/insect disturbance).
- Scratches and damages to external surfaces caused by improper user operation.
- If any part is replaced with a non-supplied/approved part, or if the device is disassembled or repaired by unauthorized personnel.
- Use of products, equipment, systems, utilities, services, parts, supplies, accessories, applications, installations, maintenance, external wiring, or connectors not provided or authorized by Elitech, which may damage the product or cause service problems.
