Installation
Initial Installation
- Turn off circuit breakers and wall switch to the fan supply line leads. ⚠️ DANGER: Failure to disconnect power supply prior to installation may result in serious injury or death.
- This fan can be mounted as a flushmount on a regular (no-slope) ceiling only. Ensure blades (G) will have at least 30 inches clearance from any obstruction and at least 7 ft. above the floor.
- Remove mounting bracket nuts (K) and mounting bracket flat washers (J) from mounting bracket (A).
- Secure mounting bracket (A) to the outlet box using screws, spring washers, and flat washers provided with the outlet box. *Note: Use of proper hardware is critical as it supports the fan.*
- Remove motor screws (M) and lock washers (L) from the underside of the motor assembly (D). Save these for attaching blade arms later. Discard any plastic motor blocks.
- Slide the slot in the bar at the top of the motor assembly (D) onto the "J" hook on the mounting bracket (A) to support the fan during wiring. ❗ IMPORTANT: Do not use the end of the bar with the small round hole to hang the motor assembly.
Wiring
⚠️ WARNING: Use provided wire connectors designed for one 12-gauge house wire and two fan lead wires. Consult an electrician for other wire configurations.
⚠️ CAUTION: Ensure the outlet box is properly grounded with a green or bare wire.
⚠️ WARNING: If house wires differ in color from instructions, stop and consult a professional electrician.
1. Choose wiring diagram (1a, 1b, or 1c) based on your setup. Use one wire connector (CC) per connection, screwing it on clockwise.
- 1a. FAN AND LIGHT CONTROLLED BY PULL CHAINS: Connect fan BLACK to ceiling BLACK. Connect fan WHITE to ceiling WHITE. Connect all fan GROUND (GREEN) wires (from motor assembly D and mounting bracket A) to ceiling BARE/GREEN wire.
- 1b. FAN CONTROLLED BY PULL CHAIN, LIGHT BY WALL SWITCH: Connect fan BLACK to ceiling BLACK. Connect fan BLUE to the BLACK wire of the independent wall switch for the light. Connect fan WHITE to ceiling WHITE. Connect all fan GROUND (GREEN) wires to ceiling BARE/GREEN wire.
- 1c. FAN AND LIGHT CONTROLLED BY TWO WALL SWITCHES: Connect fan BLACK to the BLACK wire of the independent wall switch for the fan. Connect fan BLUE to the BLACK wire of the other independent wall switch for the light. Connect fan WHITE to ceiling WHITE. Connect all fan GROUND (GREEN) wires to ceiling BARE/GREEN wire.
Note: Fan hot wire is BLACK; light hot wire is BLUE; WHITE is common for fan/light; BARE/GREEN is ground.
2. Wrap electrical tape around each wire connector (CC) down to the wire. Ensure no bare wire or strands are visible. Place green/white connections on one side of the outlet box and black/blue connections on the opposite side. Push wires and connectors into the outlet box.
3. ❗ IMPORTANT: Using a full range dimmer switch for fan speed control can cause humming and risk fire/shock. Do NOT use a full range dimmer switch for fan speed.
Final Installation
- Remove motor assembly (D) from the "J" hook. Lift it to the mounting bracket (A), align holes, and secure with previously removed mounting bracket flat washers (J) and nuts (K).
- Temporarily lift motor housing (C) to mounting bracket (A). Identify two motor housing mounting screws (N) that align with slotted holes in the motor housing's top edge. Loosen these two screws. Remove the other two motor housing mounting screws (N) and lock washers (O). Slide motor housing (C) over motor assembly (D), aligning its slotted holes with the loosened screws (N) on bracket (A). Twist housing (C) to lock. Re-insert the other two screws (N) with lock washers (O) and tighten all motor housing mounting screws (N) securely.
- Partially insert three blade screws (AA) with fiber blade washers (BB) through blade arm (F) and blade (G) to attach them. Tighten each blade screw (AA), starting with the middle one. Repeat for remaining blades (G).
- Locate motor screws (M) and lock washers (L) from Step 5 (page 7). Insert two motor screws (M) with lock washers (L) through one blade arm (F) to attach it to the motor. Tighten securely. Repeat for all blade arms (F).
- Remove three shade fitter plate screws (P) and washers (Q) from the center of the shade fitter plate (B). Align notches on the inside of the shade fitter plate (B) with the small protrusions on the light kit plate. Secure the shade fitter plate (B) with the removed screws (P) and washers (Q). Ensure access to pull chains is maintained through the designated holes.
- Install bulb (I). ❗ IMPORTANT: Allow the bulb and glass shade (E) to cool before touching them.
- Align slots on glass shade (E) with protrusions on the shade fitter plate (B). Turn glass shade (E) clockwise until it stops. Gently pull down on the shade (E) to confirm it is secure.
- Attach pull chain extensions (H) (or custom extensions) to the fan and light pull chains as needed.
Operating Instructions
- The pull chain to the right of the reverse switch controls fan speed: One pull = HIGH, Two pulls = MEDIUM, Three pulls = LOW, Four pulls = OFF.
- The pull chain to the left of the reverse switch turns the light ON or OFF.
- Use the fan reverse switch on the switch housing to optimize seasonal performance. In summer, setting the switch DOWN results in downward airflow for a cooling effect. In winter, setting the switch UP results in upward airflow to circulate warm air. ❗ IMPORTANT: Wait for the fan to stop completely before moving the reverse switch. The switch must be set fully UP or DOWN; the middle position will prevent operation.
Care and Maintenance
At least twice a year, lower the motor housing (C) to check and tighten all screws on the fan motor assembly (D). Clean the motor housing (C) with a soft brush or lint-free cloth to avoid scratching. Clean blades (G) with a lint-free cloth. Furniture polish can be applied to wood blades for added protection.
❗ IMPORTANT: Shut off main power supply before any maintenance. Do not use water or a damp cloth to clean the fan.
Bulb Replacement: Use up to 60-watt incandescent candelabra-base bulbs or 13-watt candelabra-base CFLs.
