Introduction
This guide outlines the procedure for removing and replacing a non-functioning Ethernet port on the motherboard of the Samsung SmartThings Hub.
?️ Tools Required:
- Phillips #1 Screwdriver
- Soldering Iron
- Soldering Tweezers
Step 1: Accessing the Hub
To begin, gently slide the grey bottom cover of the Samsung SmartThings Hub in the direction indicated by an arrow.
Step 2: Removing the Bottom Cover
Ensure the batteries are removed before proceeding with disassembly.
Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the four visible 12.5mm screws located on the bottom of the device.
Next, locate the longer of the two stickers on the bottom casing. Either peel this sticker up or use the tip of your screwdriver to carefully create a small opening to access the fifth 12.5mm screw.
Step 3: Separating the Casing
After all five screws have been removed, carefully split the casing apart. Apply gentle upward pressure against the positive terminals within the battery compartment to assist in separation.
Step 4: Removing the Motherboard
To detach the motherboard, grip both the USB port and the Ethernet port. Lift the motherboard upwards, then slide it towards the front of the device. This action will release it from the black retaining clip located on the right side.
Step 5: Desoldering the Ethernet Port
Place the removed motherboard onto a clean, flat surface.
Preheat your soldering iron. The Ethernet port is connected to the motherboard at fourteen solder points. Apply heat to each solder joint individually with the soldering iron, while simultaneously pulling the Ethernet port away from the board.
⚠️ Soldering irons can reach temperatures exceeding 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Exercise caution and protect your fingers.

To reassemble your Samsung SmartThings Hub, follow these steps in reverse order.
