Samsung N150 Plus Screen Replacement

Use this guide to remove the screen from the Samsung N150 Plus.

Introduction

This guide will provide the necessary steps to remove the screen from the laptop. This guide involves many steps and can be time consuming. Make sure to take your time and follow the instructions completely.

Tools Required:

  • Phillips #00 Screwdriver
  • iFixit Opening Tools
  • Spudger

Parts Required:

  • Samsung N150 Plus screen

Step 1: Battery Removal

  • Turn off the computer.
  • Disconnect the charging cable from the laptop. ⚠️ Failure to unplug the cable could result in electric shock.
  • Flip the laptop upside down with the front face down on a flat surface.

Step 2: Unlock Battery Latches

Slide the left and right switch to the "unlocked" position.

Step 3: Remove Battery

While holding the left and right hand switches in the "unlocked" position, push the battery away from the computer.

Step 4: Remove Back Panel

Using the Phillips #00 screwdriver, unscrew the fourteen 7mm screws until the back panel comes loose.

Step 5: Pry Open Back Panel

A plastic opening tool or spudger being inserted between the back panel and the laptop body to begin prying it open.
  • Using either the blue plastic opening tools or spudger tool, wedge one in between the back panel and the laptop.
  • Apply pressure upwards till the back panel pops off.
  • ⚠️ If the back panel is difficult to remove and feels like it is going to break, DO NOT force it. Check to confirm that all the screws are removed before attempting again.

Step 6: Access Internal Components

The computer should be open with the motherboard exposed and internal components exposed. You should now be able to access the Fan and RAM. There are more necessary steps to follow before accessing the screen and keyboard.

Step 7: Disconnect Screen Cables

  • Unclip the two white wires connected to the computer chip on the motherboard by pulling the white wire toward you. ℹ️ Make sure you don't damage the terminals for the white wires on the computer chip by pulling too hard on them.
  • Remove the yellow tape securing the black cable that is connected to the motherboard. ? Be gentle when removing the yellow tape. It is very thin and can rip easily.
  • Once you have removed the yellow tape, unplug the black cable from its connection on the motherboard.

Step 8: Unscrew Hinges

Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to unscrew the four 5mm screws located on the two hinges.

Step 9: Separate Screen Case

The screen case is being slowly pulled away from the main laptop body, disengaging from the hinge sockets.

Slowly remove the screen case from the rest of the laptop by pulling the screen case out of the hinge sockets.

Step 10: Unscrew Screen Bezel

Use a Phillips #00 to unscrew the four 5mm screws located at the top and bottom corners of the screen bezel.

Step 11: Pry Open Screen Bezel

A spudger or plastic opening tool is being used to pry open the screen bezel from the screen case.
  • Use the spudger or plastic opening tools to wedge it in-between the screen bezel and bottom of the screen case.
  • Apply pressure upwards to pop the screen bezel open.

Step 12: Unscrew Screen Mounting Screws

Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to unscrew the four 5mm mounting screws that secure the screen to the bottom case.

Step 13: Disconnect Screen Cables from Bottom Case

  • Lift the screen out of the bottom screen case and locate the white plug connected to the bottom case.
  • Pull the wires away from you to unplug the wires from their connection on the bottom screen case. ℹ️ Be gentle when pulling on the wires, so that you don't disconnect them from their plug.
  • Unclip half of the black case hinge to release the wire from its casing.

Step 14: Remove Screen

The screen is fully disconnected from the screen bezel and can now be removed.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
