5.0 Installation and setup

Before you start

Please ensure that you have a Bosch Smart Home Controller and the Bosch Smart Home App, and that you have set both of them up successfully.

5.1 Installation

You can watch easy-to-follow installation videos on our website: www.bosch-smarthome.com/installation

1. Start the Bosch Smart Home App and select "Add device".

2. The app will prompt you to scan the QR code found on the back of the smoke alarm.

5.2 Activating the device

The next step in the app is the activation of the smoke alarm.

Twist the smoke alarm into the mounting bracket.

The Smoke Alarm is operational once it is twisted into the mounting bracket. Please note that inadvertently pressing the operating button will trigger a test alarm.

From this point, the app guides you through the installation process. You will find a detailed description in this instruction manual.

6.0 Mounting the smoke alarm

6.1 Mounting instructions

It is best practice to install several smoke alarms in your home for full protection. As a minimum, we recommend installing them in every bedroom, kids room, and in all hallways that serve as an escape route. For maximum effectiveness, we recommend additional smoke alarms in living areas, attics, and basements.

In order to prevent injury, the mounting instructions in this instruction manual must be followed and general safety regulations observed.

Recommended Placement:

When choosing a mounting location and drilling, pay attention to potential electrical cables and/or pipes that could be behind the wall.

The app will guide you through the mounting steps. You can choose between mounting with screws or the adhesive strip. Ensure you have positioned the emergency light in the desired position. There is a round recess on the inside of the mounting bracket that shows the position of the emergency light.

6.2 Fixing with screws

  1. Hold the mounting bracket in the desired position, ensuring the emergency light is in the correct orientation.
  2. Mark the drill holes.
  3. Drill the holes and insert the plugs.
  4. Position the mounting bracket and screw it in place.
  5. Now twist the smoke alarm into the mounting bracket until it clicks twice (2x "Click").

Ensure the orientation directs the emergency light towards the escape route.

6.3 Fixing with adhesive tapes

  1. Attach the adhesive strip to the mounting bracket and peel off the second protective film.
  2. Make sure the emergency light is pointing towards the escape route.
  3. Now press the smoke alarm with the mounting bracket attached firmly against the ceiling until it clicks twice (2x "Click").

Please note that firmly pressing the smoke detector against the ceiling may inadvertently trigger the operating button, causing a test alarm.

Mounting with adhesive strips is only suitable for very smooth, even surfaces. It is not suitable for woodchip wallpaper, rough plaster, or coated concrete etc.

6.4 Functional test

We recommend testing your smoke alarm immediately following installation and then again every month.

To do so, briefly press the operating button or start a functional test via the app.

Expected Test Result: The alarm will sound three times, the alarm LED will flash red, and the emergency light will light up. Following a successful test, the alarm LED flashes red every 10 seconds for 10 minutes, during which the product will be muted.

If the described signals do not occur, the product is faulty and should be replaced.

After a functional test or switching off the alarm, smoke detection will be deactivated for 10 minutes, and the product will be muted.

There must be a functioning wireless network and internet connection for warnings to be sent in the event of a potential fire. Robert Bosch Smart Home GmbH is not able to offer a guarantee on the time it will take for this notification to be transmitted.

Please note that the emergency services number stored in the app will not be automatically called if the smoke alarm detects smoke. If necessary, you always have to call the emergency services yourself!

You need to ensure that your mobile device is on and connected to a mobile communications network in order to receive warnings and notifications from the Smart Home Smoke Alarm.

7.0 Maintenance instructions

We recommend you inspect and test your smoke alarm on a monthly basis.

7.1 Visual inspection

8.0 Alarm and troubleshooting

8.1 Switching off the alarm
