- For Apple iOS Devices: Open the App Store, search for "Bosch Twinguard", select the app, and tap "Get".
Ensure your mobile device is connected to the same WiFi network as the one you will use for your Gateway.
5.1 Starting the Bosch Twinguard App
Launch the Bosch Twinguard App and log in using your username and password. If you don't have a Bosch Account, you can create one within the app. You can use an existing Bosch Account for other Bosch devices.
The app will guide you through the installation process.
- [Warning] A functional wireless network and internet connection are required for timely alarm notifications. Bosch Smart Home GmbH does not guarantee notification transmission times.
- [Warning] The emergency services number stored in the app is NOT automatically called during a smoke alarm event. You must call emergency services yourself if necessary.
- [Warning] Ensure your mobile device is connected to a mobile communications network to receive warnings and notifications.
5.2 Set up the Gateway
- Insert the network cable into the Gateway and a free LAN port on your router.
- Connect the Gateway to the power supply using the USB power cable and follow the app's instructions.
- When prompted by the app, scan the QR code on the base of the Gateway.
5.3 Activating the Gateway

6.0 Installation and Set Up the Twinguard
[Info] Your mobile device must be connected to the same WiFi network as the Gateway to set up the Twinguard.
Follow the instructions in the Bosch Twinguard App to add more Smoke Alarms. This process involves scanning the QR code on the back of each Smoke Alarm.
6.1 Activating the Twinguard
When prompted by the app, activate the Twinguard Smoke Alarm by removing the red pin from the back. The Twinguard becomes operational once the pin is removed. Note that pressing the operating button inadvertently will trigger a test alarm.
7.0 Fixing the Gateway
7.1 Mounting Instructions
[Info] Install the Gateway in a location that ensures a good connection. Lost connections prevent notifications.
The Gateway can be placed flat or mounted on a wall. Position it near the center of the house for optimal wireless coverage. Ensure the delivery scope is intact (see Chapter 2.0) and only use immaculate parts for mounting.
7.2 Wall Mounting
[Warning] When choosing a mounting location and drilling, be aware of potential electrical cables or supply lines behind the wall.
The Gateway base has two recesses for screw heads to facilitate wall mounting. Use the provided plugs and screws. The process involves:
- Marking two hole positions 4.8 cm apart on the wall.
- Drilling the holes and inserting the plugs.
- Driving screws into the plugs.
- Positioning the Gateway over the screws and sliding it down until it locks into place.
8.0 Mounting the Twinguard
8.1 Mounting Instructions
For full protection, it is recommended to install multiple smoke alarms. As a minimum, install them in every bedroom, children's room, and hallways serving as escape routes. For maximum effectiveness, consider additional alarms in living areas, attics, and basements.
Recommended Placement:
- Ceiling Mounting: Mount in the center of the ceiling. Maximum monitoring area is 60 m². In large rooms, add an alarm for every 60 m². Maximum installation height is 6 m.
- Hallways: For hallways up to 3m wide, install an alarm every 15m. Ensure no point is more than 7.5m from an alarm. Install alarms at hallway junctions and corners.
- Multi-level Rooms: In rooms divided into multiple floors, install a detector on each level where the ceiling area exceeds 16 m² and dimensions are over 2m.
- Beamed Ceilings: If ceiling beams/joints protrude more than 0.2m, install multiple alarms if the resulting ceiling area is over 36 m².
General Mounting Guidelines:
- [Warning] Follow mounting instructions and general safety regulations to prevent injury.
- [Warning] Be mindful of electrical cables and supply lines when drilling.
- The kit includes two 3.5 x 30 mm countersunk screws and two 5 mm universal wall plugs suitable for concrete ceilings.
- Align the mounting bracket's straight edge parallel to the room's ceiling edge so the Smoke Alarm is parallel to the room's edge.
8.2 Fixing with Screws
- Hold the mounting bracket in the desired position and mark the drill holes.
- Drill the holes and insert the plugs.
- Position the mounting bracket and screw it on.
- Fit the Smoke Alarm to the bracket, align, and rotate in the direction of the arrows until it clicks securely into place.
9.0 Maintenance Instructions
[Info] Inspect and test your Twinguard monthly. Also check after battery changes and software updates.
9.1 Visual Inspection
- Ensure smoke inlet openings and sound outlets are clear of dust, dirt, or paint.
- If necessary, clean the Smoke Alarm with a damp cloth.
- Check for damage and ensure the mounting bracket is secure.
- Maintain a clear space of at least 0.5m around the Twinguard for unobstructed smoke detection.
9.2 Twinguard Functional Test
Test the Twinguard immediately after installation and monthly thereafter. Also test after battery changes and software updates.
- To Test: Briefly press the operating button. The alarm will sound three times at reduced volume, the alarm LED and light strip will flash red, and emergency lighting will activate.
- Successful Test: The 360° LED light strip will flash blue for one second.
- [Warning] If signals do not appear as described, the Smoke Alarm may be faulty; replace it.
- Pressing the operating button to test or mute an alarm deactivates fire detection for 10 minutes. Muting via the app keeps detection active.
