Mounting the Smoke Detector
Mounting Instructions
For optimal protection, install smoke detectors in every bedroom, children's room, and all hallways serving as escape routes. For maximum effectiveness, consider installing them in living areas, attics, and basements.
Important: Follow mounting instructions and safety regulations to prevent injury. When drilling, be aware of potential electrical cables or pipes behind the wall.
Placement Guidance:
The smoke detector should be mounted on the ceiling. Diagrams provide guidance on best practice for installation locations:
- Maintain a minimum distance of 0.5m from walls and a minimum angle of 20° from the ceiling apex for optimal detection.
- Ensure a clear space of 0.5m around the detector for unobstructed smoke detection.
The app will guide you through mounting with screws or adhesive tapes. Ensure the emergency light is correctly oriented.
The mounting bracket has a recess indicating the correct position for the emergency light.
Fixing with Screws
- Hold the mounting bracket in the desired position, ensuring the emergency light marking is correctly oriented.
- Mark the drill holes.
- Drill the holes and insert the provided plugs.
- Position the mounting bracket and screw it securely in place.
- Twist the smoke detector onto the mounting bracket until it clicks twice.
Fixing with Adhesive Tapes
- Twist the smoke detector into the mounting bracket.
- Attach the adhesive strip to the mounting bracket and peel off the protective film.
- Ensure the emergency light points towards the escape route.
- Press the smoke detector with the attached mounting bracket firmly against the ceiling until it clicks twice.
Functional Test & Maintenance
Functional Test
Test your smoke detector monthly. Press the operating button briefly or initiate a test via the app. A successful test results in three alarm sounds, a flashing red LED, and the emergency light activating. The LED will then flash red every 10 seconds for 10 minutes, during which the product is muted.
If the expected signals do not occur, the product may be faulty and should be replaced.
Important Notes:
- A functioning wireless network and internet connection are required for notifications.
- The emergency services number stored in the app is not automatically called; manual calling is required.
- Ensure your mobile device is connected to a network to receive alerts.
After a test or alarm mute, smoke detection is deactivated for 10 minutes.
Maintenance Instructions
Perform a monthly inspection:
- Check smoke inlet and sound outlet openings for clogs (dust, dirt, paint). Clean gently with a damp cloth if necessary.
- Inspect the bracket for damage and ensure it is firmly attached.
- Maintain a 0.5m clear space around the detector for effective smoke detection.
Alarm and Troubleshooting
Switching Off the Alarm
To mute an alarm, press the operating button on the detector that initiated the alarm (identified by a flashing red LED). This will silence all other connected alarms.
Faults and Measures
If the alarm sounds every 43 seconds and the LED flashes red every 43 seconds, the battery level is low. The battery is not replaceable; the smoke detector must be replaced.
