Frico Elztrip EZ200 Radiant Heater
Original Instructions
General Instructions
Read these instructions carefully prior to installation and use. Keep this manual for future reference. The product may only be used as set out in the assembly and operating instructions. The guarantee is only valid should the product be used in the manner intended and in accordance with the instructions.
Application
The EZ200 is a double panel radiant heater with a clean and simple design that blends well with electrical fittings. It is intended for total and supplementary heating, as well as protection against cold draughts from windows in environments such as department stores, assembly halls, and industrial premises. The recommended installation heights for the heater are shown on the introduction pages. Protection class: IP44.
Operation
The panels have an operating temperature of up to 320 °C and the heat is radiated to cold surfaces. Maximum surrounding temperature is +30 °C.
Mounting
The Elztrip is installed horizontally on ceilings, in armature rails, on cables, or suspended. Standard fittings for mounting are included and are found inside the connection box. If the heater is suspended by wires, use the four mounting points on the heater. The distance between panels should not be greater than the height between the panel and the floor (a < H). For minimum distances, refer to diagrams on introductory pages.
Fig. 1 Mounting: Describes the process of mounting the heater. It involves bending bracket legs approximately 90°, mounting brackets to the ceiling or wire according to dimensional drawings, and then attaching the panel. Clips are used to prevent sliding when mounting on a wire.

Electrical Installation
Elztrip is intended for permanent installation and approved for serial connection. Installation must be preceded by an isolator switch with a contact separation of at least 3 mm and performed by a competent electrician in accordance with the latest IEE wiring regulations. Electrical installation is via cable glands in the junction box (2 x Ø20.5 mm). Cable glands must meet protection class requirements. The largest cable diameter for the terminal block is 16 mm². For serial connection, the maximum fuse size is 35A.
Controls
When used as a local space heater according to Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2015/1188, the product must be supplemented with approved controls. A relaybox RB3 is required for 400V~ products.
Approved Controls
- TAP16R: Electronic thermostat with electronic room temperature control, week timer, and open window detection.
- TAP16R and SKG30 (black bulb sensor): Includes electronic room temperature control, week timer, open window detection, and black bulb sensor functionality.
- TAP16R and PDK65 (presence detector): Includes electronic room temperature control, week timer, open window detection, and room temperature control with presence detection.
Alternative control methods, such as Building Management Systems (BMS), are possible, but the installer is responsible for ensuring compliance with Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2015/1188.

Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2015/1188
The Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2015/1188 concerning local space heaters applies when an installation is intended to provide thermal comfort for people. It does not apply to heating installations of a more technical nature (e.g., engineering/utility rooms, production processes, frost protection) or installations in vehicles, offshore, or outdoors. Frico products can serve as both local space heaters and for technical heating purposes. The installer is responsible for assessing the applicability of the Ecodesign Regulation. Control solutions for non-compliant installations are listed separately.
Start-up
During first-time use or after a long period of non-use, smoke or odor may occur due to dust or dirt on the element. This is normal and will disappear shortly. A rattling noise may occur the first time panels are used as the surface coating settles. Small clicks can occur in all electrical heating appliances due to material expansion and contraction with temperature changes.
Maintenance
Disconnect the power supply before any service, repair, or maintenance. Ensure the unit is cold. The unit has minimal maintenance requirements as it has no moving parts, but must be kept clean and free from dust and dirt. Handle the product with clean gloves and ensure it is clean before switching on. Presence of aerosols, lacquer, solvents, or dust may cause discoloration. A slight change in color over time is normal; incorrect installation or high ambient temperatures can increase discoloration, but output is unaffected.
Residual Current Circuit Breaker
If an installation is protected by a residual current circuit breaker that trips upon connection, it may be due to moisture in the heating element, especially after periods of non-use or storage in damp environments. This can be rectified by connecting the appliance to the main supply via a socket without a safety cut-out to allow the moisture to evaporate. This drying process can take several hours to days. Periodically running the unit for a short time when not in use can prevent this.
Handling of product at end of working life
This product may contain substances potentially dangerous to the environment. It should not be disposed of with general household waste but delivered to a designated collection point for environmental recycling. Contact local authorities for details.
Safety
- For all electrically heated products, a 300 mA residual current circuit breaker for fire protection should be used.
- Do not cover the unit fully or partially, as this can lead to overheating and fire risk.
- Do not place the unit directly under fixed wall sockets.
- Do not use the unit or cord if damaged; this poses a risk of injury.
- The cable and plug must not be placed inside the hot radiant area.
- Children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, can use the appliance if given supervision or instruction for safe use and understanding of hazards. Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance should not be performed by children unsupervised.
- Children under 3 years should be kept away unless continuously supervised.
- Children aged 3 to 8 years should only switch the appliance on/off if it is in its normal operating position and they have received supervision or instruction for safe use and understanding of hazards.
- Children aged 3 to 8 years must not plug in, regulate, or clean the appliance, or perform user maintenance.
CAUTION: Some parts of this product can become very hot and cause burns. Extra attention is needed where children and vulnerable people are present.
Packaging
Packaging materials are chosen with consideration for the environment and are therefore recyclable.
