Frico Elztrip EZ300 Radiant Heater
Original Instructions
Introduction and Ecodesign Regulation
This document provides original instructions for the Frico Elztrip EZ300 radiant heater. It details installation, operation, and safety guidelines.
Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2015/1188: This regulation concerning local space heaters applies when an installation is intended to provide thermal comfort for people in premises. It does not apply to heating installations of a more technical nature (e.g., engineering/utility rooms, production processes, frost protection) or installations in vehicles, offshore, or outdoors. Many Frico products can be used for both local space heating and technical heating. The installer is responsible for assessing the applicability of the Ecodesign Regulation. Control solutions for installations not covered by the regulation are listed separately.

Mounting and Positioning
Mounting: Elztrip heaters are installed horizontally on ceilings, armature rails, cables, or suspended. Standard fittings are included. For suspension by wires, use the four mounting points. The distance between panels should not exceed the height between the panel and the floor (a < H). Refer to diagrams for minimum distances.
Mounting Procedure:
- Determine panel position on the ceiling.
- Bend bracket "legs" approximately 90°.
- Mount brackets with internal distance as per dimensional drawing (Page 4), on the ceiling or wire.
- Mount the panel, starting with one end.
- Ensure screws are tightened.
- Use clips to prevent sliding when mounting on a wire.
Dimensions (Fig. 1):
- EZ336: L=1670mm, A=1200mm, B=235mm
- EZ345: L=2030mm, A=1500mm, B=265mm
Positioning (Fig. 2): The heater provides comfortable heat for people in the room. Recommended coverage area is 4-18 m². Ensure the distance 'a' is less than the height 'H', with Δh between 1.5 - 2 m.
Minimum Distances (Fig. 3): For flammable materials:
- A: 120 mm
- B: 250 mm
- C: 250 mm
- D: 700 mm
- E: 1800 mm
Controls and Accessories
Various controls are available for the Elztrip EZ300, including thermostats, relay boxes, and sensors. Some controls are required for installations adhering to the Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2015/1188.
Available Controls:
- TAP16R: Electronic thermostat with room temperature control and week timer, and open window detection.
- TAP16R + SKG30: Includes TAP16R features plus a black bulb sensor.
- RB123 + PDK65: Relay box with 3-step output control and presence detector, offering manual stages, working time limitation, and room temperature control with presence detection.
Controls for installations not covered by Ecodesign include:
- KRT1900, KRTV19, S123 (dimensions provided in tables).

General Instructions and Safety
General: Read instructions before installation and use. Use the product only as intended. The guarantee is valid only when used according to instructions.
Application: EZ300 is a triple panel radiant heater suitable for industrial environments like warehouses and workshops.
Operation: Panels operate up to 320°C. Max. surrounding temperature is +30°C.
Electrical Installation: Delivered prewired for 400V3N~ and 230V3~. Installation requires an isolator switch and must be performed by a competent electrician according to IEE wiring regulations. Cable glands must meet protection class requirements. Max. cable diameter is 16mm². Max. fuse size for serial connection is 35A.
Start-up: Initial use may produce smoke or odor due to dust on the element; this is normal and temporary.
Maintenance: Disconnect power before service. Keep the unit clean and free from dust. Minor clicks may occur due to thermal expansion.
Residual Current Circuit Breaker: If a residual current circuit breaker trips, it may be due to moisture in the heating element. This can be rectified by running the unit without a safety cut-out to dry the element. Periodic use is recommended to prevent moisture buildup.
Safety:
- Use a 300 mA residual current circuit breaker for fire protection.
- Do not cover the unit, as overheating can cause a fire risk.
- Do not place the unit directly under fixed wall sockets.
- Do not use if the unit or cord is damaged.
- Keep cables away from the hot radiant area.
- The appliance can be used by children aged 8+ and persons with reduced capabilities if supervised and they understand the hazards. Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance should not be done by children unsupervised.
- Keep children under 3 away unless supervised.
- Children aged 3-8 can operate the appliance only if placed in its intended position and supervised.
- Children aged 3-8 should not plug in, regulate, or clean the appliance.
Caution: Parts of the product can become very hot and cause burns. Exercise caution around children and vulnerable individuals.
Handling at End of Working Life: Dispose of the product responsibly at designated collection points for environmental recycling. Do not mix with household waste.
Packaging: Packaging materials are recyclable and chosen with environmental consideration.
