Safety Instructions
- Electrical equipment must only be installed and assembled by a qualified electrician in accordance with the relevant installation standards, directives, determinations and safety and accident prevention directives of the country.
- Failure to comply with these instructions may result in damage to the device, fire or other hazards.
- Hazard due to electric shock. Disconnect before working on the device. Take into account all circuit breakers that feed dangerous voltages to the device.
- Hazard due to electric shock. The device is not suited for safe disconnection of the mains supply.
- Hazard due to electric shock. Do not operate device without the application module.
- If several drives should be connected in parallel to one output, it is mandatory to observe the manufacturer's data; use a cut-off relay where required. Drives can be destroyed.
- Use blind drives with mechanical or electrical final position switches only. Check final position switches for correct adjustment. Observe manufacturer's data. The device can be damaged.
- Use blind push-buttons only for extension unit operation. The use of blind push-buttons can cause malfunctions.
- Hazard of injury. Use the device to control blind, shutter or awning drives only. Do not switch any other loads.
- Observe the motor manufacturer's data regarding change-over time and max. switch-on time (ED).
- Do not lay control lines in parallel to the motor lines (danger of coupling).
- These instructions are an integral component of the product, and must be retained by the end user.
Design of the Device
The device comprises the following main components:
- Shutter insert (1)
- Frame (2)
- Application module (e.g., from a push-button for blinds) (3)
- Screw for dismantling protection (not on R.1/R.3 models) (4)
- Blind button design cover (5)
- Connecting terminals (6)
[Description of Figure 1: A visual representation of the shutter insert components, showing the main unit, frame, application module, dismantling screw, cover, and terminals.]
Function
Correct Use
- Switching electrically operated blinds, shutters, awnings, and similar hangings.
- Circuiting of extension units such as push-buttons for blinds, blind inserts, and key push-buttons for blinds is possible.
- Only suitable for use in indoor areas, protected from drip or spray water.
- Installation must be in a wall box according to DIN 49073.
- Operation requires a suitable application module (refer to "Accessories" section).
Product Characteristics
- Features 2 mechanically and electrically mutually locked relay contacts.
Operation
These instructions detail the installation of the shutter insert. The operation and function of the application modules are described in their respective instruction manuals. The extension unit functionality is only enabled when an application module is attached to the master unit.
Information for Electricians
Assembly and Electrical Circuiting
Danger! Touching live parts can result in an electric shock. An electric shock can be lethal. Disconnect the connecting cables before working on the device and cover all live parts in the area!
Circuiting and Mounting of Shutter Insert
[Description of Figure 2: An electrical circuit diagram for the shutter insert, showing connections for Line (L), Neutral (N), motor (M), and a protective MCB max. 10 A.]
- A Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) rated at a maximum of 10 A is installed as device protection.
- Circuit the shutter insert according to the provided circuiting diagram (Figure 2).
- Install the shutter insert in a wall box (a deep box is recommended). Ensure the connection terminals are positioned at the bottom.
- Attach the frame and the application module (refer to the application module's instructions).
Individual Control with Push-button for Shutter Extension Unit
[Description of Figure 3: An electrical circuit diagram for individual control using a push-button as an extension unit.]
- For individual control, connect the push-button for the blind extension unit according to the circuiting diagram.
Individual Control with Key Push-button for Shutter Extension Unit
[Description of Figure 4: An electrical circuit diagram for individual control using a key push-button as an extension unit.]
- For individual control, connect the key push-button for the shutter extension unit according to the circuiting diagram.
Control by Sensors
Sensors, such as wind or precipitation sensors, are used to protect awnings from damage. If a threshold value is exceeded on the sensors, blinds/awnings are retracted.
When using sensors, the operating mode might need to be switched to protection mode (refer to Cover instructions).
[Description of Figure X: A diagram showing how to connect a sensor (7), such as a wind/precipitation sensor, according to the connection diagram.]
Master and Group Control
Circuit master and group control according to the circuiting diagram (Figure 5).
[Description of Figure 5: A diagram illustrating common wiring configurations for master and group control of multiple blind units.]
Master Control Under Application of Various RCCBs
Circuit master control when applying various Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs) according to the circuiting diagram (Figure 6).
[Description of Figure 6: A diagram detailing the wiring for master control, specifically when the system incorporates multiple Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs).]
