Hunter Kerrison Pendant Light Installation Instructions
Model Numbers: 19538, 19539
Brand: Hunter
Preparation for Installation
Carefully remove all contents from the carton. Shut off the power at the circuit breaker and completely remove the old fixture from the ceiling, including the old mounting bracket. Remove the new mounting bracket assembly from the bag.
The mounting bracket assembly includes a threaded post (D) attached to the mounting bracket (A) with a hex nut (E), and a canopy loop (G) attached to the other end of the post. Unscrew the canopy loop ring (H) from the canopy loop (G).
To ensure the canopy (F) sits flush with the ceiling, adjust the position of the threaded post (D) on the mounting bracket (A). Lift the mounting bracket (A) to the junction box and place the canopy (F) over the canopy loop (G). The canopy (F) should cover at least half of the exterior threads on the canopy loop (G) when securely connected to the threaded post (D).
Adjust the threaded post (D) by loosening the hex nut (E) to allow movement. Once the ideal position is determined, tighten the hex nuts (E) onto the threaded post (D) just beneath the mounting bracket (A) to secure it.
Assembling the Fixture
Thread the fixture wires through the hanging ring (K) and attach to the threaded post (L) of the fixture.
Determine the correct number of chain links (I) needed for the desired hanging height. If necessary, use a pair of [pliers] to open and remove excess chain. To shorten the fixture, trim the wires to the desired length, leaving at least 8 to 10 inches of wire.
Attach one quick-connect link (J) to each end of the chain (I). Use one quick-connect link (J) to attach the chain (I) to the hanging ring (K) and close it securely.
Feed the fixture wires up through the chain (approximately every three links), pulling the wires taut. Slide the canopy loop ring (H) and the canopy (F) onto the chain/wire, and thread the wires through the canopy loop (G).
Use the remaining quick-connect link (J) to attach the chain (I) to the canopy loop (G). Have a helper support the fixture's weight while you attach the mounting bracket (A) to the junction box by securely tightening the mounting screws (C).
Connecting the Wires
Connect the fixture wires to the power supply wires from the junction box:
- Connect black fixture wire to black house wire (live).
- Connect white fixture wire to white house wire (neutral).
- Connect grounding wire (bare copper or green) to grounding house wire (green or copper).
Twist the ends of the wire pairs together and secure with a wire connector. Ensure all twists are in the same direction.
Loop the fixture's ground wire around the grounding screw (B) and tighten. If no ground wire is present from the junction box, consult a qualified electrician.
Finishing the Installation
Place the canopy (F) flush to the ceiling. Slide the canopy loop ring (H) up beneath the canopy. Tightly screw the canopy loop ring (H) onto the canopy loop (G) to secure the canopy (F) in place.
Slide the glass shade (N) over the sockets to rest in the glass cup (O). Secure the glass shade (N) by sliding the sleeve (M) over the socket.
Install a light bulb (not included) according to the fixture's specifications. Do not exceed the recommended wattage.
Turn on the power and test the fixture. Installation is now complete.
Cleaning Tips
Handle the fixture gently. Regular cleaning reduces the need for deep cleaning. For regular cleaning, turn off the light and wipe down the fixture with a clean, lint-free cotton or microfiber cloth. Never spray cleaner directly onto the fixture.
