BMW EfficientDynamics
The pleasure derived from driving a BMW is a result of meticulous engineering that goes beyond outright engine performance. BMW EfficientDynamics encompasses technologies like the visionary CleanEnergy hydrogen-powered engine and ActiveHybrid systems, aiming to boost dynamics while reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
High Precision Injection
In this cutting-edge generation of petrol direct injection, Piezo injectors are positioned very close to the spark plugs. They inject fuel at high pressure and with extreme precision to ensure particularly efficient combustion.
Lightweight Engineering
Where it makes sense to use light materials, engineers use aluminum, for example, in the front part of the car and the chassis. The roof is also all-aluminum, and thanks to an aluminum crankcase, the six-cylinder diesel engine is among the lightest in its class. These weight savings reduce fuel consumption and optimize axle load distribution for improved dynamics.
Air Vent Control*
Engine management dynamically controls radiator air vents to optimize cooling requirements, making a permanent airstream through the radiator unnecessary. The air vents open or close depending on outside temperature and road speed. When shut, they improve aerodynamics, shorten the engine's warm-up time, and reduce fuel consumption.

Tyres with Reduced Rolling-Resistance
While driving, tires constantly change shape, using energy and fuel. Tires with reduced rolling-resistance have an improved design and use special materials for their treads and sidewalls, which limits deformation.
Brake Energy Regeneration
This system captures kinetic energy during braking or coasting, converting it into electrical energy to charge the battery, thus reducing fuel consumption. The generator usually produces electricity when the driver takes a foot off the accelerator or brakes.

Thanks to innovative features of EfficientDynamics, BMW has been able to significantly reduce CO2 emissions in many models. BMW continues research with EfficientDynamics to bring more driving pleasure and lower fuel consumption.

Exterior Features
Xenon Headlights
High and low beam Xenon headlights with automatic range control and washing system provide significantly improved illumination of the road ahead at night, in bad weather, and when visibility is poor. The four light rings with daytime driving light function can also be used as parking lights.
Adaptive Headlights
With variable light distribution, including turning lights, using electro-mechanical control of moving headlights to provide optimum illumination through corners as soon as the driver turns in. Turning lights integrated into fog lights activate automatically when the indicator is switched on or at a steering angle of 10 degrees or more – up to a speed of 40 km/h.
High-beam Assistant
Helps the driver at night by automatically switching between high or low beam according to oncoming traffic, vehicles driving in front, and the quality of road lighting.
Brake Force Display
Helps drivers of vehicles following behind to assess braking situations more accurately. Under normal braking, brake lights illuminate across a wide area. Under full or emergency braking, they flash on and off, allowing immediate distinction between light and full braking, thus enhancing driving safety.
Tailpipes
The 740i/Li and 750i/Li models are fitted with two exhaust tailpipes integrated into the bumper. The trapezoidal tailpipes come with chrome embellishers. The 730d is fitted with visible twin tailpipes on the left.
Shadow Line, High-Gloss
Includes window gutter trim and window frame trim in high-gloss Black.
Lights Package
Contains reading and rear footwell lights, rear ambient lighting, exit lights, and vicinity lights in the exterior mirrors and door handles.
Comfort Access System
Allows opening and closing the car without needing the remote control in hand (standard on 750i and 7 Series long-wheelbase version).
Soft Close Function for Doors
Uses small electric motors to gently pull all four doors shut (for the last 6 mm).
Heat-Insulating Glass
For the rear side windows (from the B-pillar back) and rear window. The tinted glass reduces glare and ensures a pleasant interior climate when it's hot outside.

Dynamic Driving Control
Allows the driver to select normal, sport, or comfort mode at the touch of a button, adjusting the car's overall set-up to a wide range of requirements.
Leather Steering Wheel with Multifunction
Allows drivers to operate a large number of functions conveniently and safely, including Cruise Control, audio, and telephone, without distraction.
Sports Leather Steering Wheel
Features a comfortable grip and integrated buttons for convenient and safe operation of telephone, voice, and audio functions, as well as Cruise Control.
Head-up Display
Projects driving-related information such as speed, navigation instructions, and driver assistance alerts directly into the driver's field of vision.
Steering Wheel Heating
The rim heats up quickly at the touch of a button, providing comfort in winter.
Climate Control
Available as 2-zone automatic climate control (separate for driver and front passenger) with Automatic Air Recirculation (AAR), recirculating air filter, solar and mist-up sensor. The 4-zone system offers individual climate control for the rear compartment via rotary switches and a display, with an additional blower and footwell outlet for draught-free air distribution.
Auxiliary Heating with Remote Control
Ideal in winter and on cold days, it de-ices windows and warms the interior to a pleasant temperature.
Dashboard Displays
Features four analog instruments showing speed, RPM, fuel level, and engine oil temperature, combined with a high-resolution, wide-format Info Display for current fuel economy, range, trip computer functions, odometer, and daily trip recorder.
Black Panel Technology
Instrument cluster displays appear as a Black matt surface when the ignition is switched off, with only chrome rings visible. Dials and displays illuminate when doors are opened and ignition is switched on.
Lane Departure Warning System
Uses a camera to identify when the car is getting close to a road marking and warns the driver via a mild vibration through the steering wheel. Designed to work well on motorways.
Speed Limit Display*
Part of the Lane Departure Warning System, it uses a camera to record traffic signs and displays speed limits in the Info Display or Head-up Display.
Lane Change Warning System
When the indicator is switched on, it recognizes vehicles in the blind spot or approaching at high speed in the overtaking lane, warning the driver with a visible signal in the exterior mirror casing.
Side View
A camera-based system offering visual assistance when pulling out with restricted visibility.
Rear View Camera
Shows the area behind the car clearly in the Control Display, with interactive guidelines indicating parking space suitability.
Park Distance Control (PDC)
Front and rear sensors facilitate parking and maneuvering in tight spaces, providing audible and visual alerts of distance to obstacles.
Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go Function
A driving assistance system for increased comfort and active safety, maintaining distance to the vehicle ahead and stopping/restarting automatically in traffic jams.

Interior Controls and Infotainment
iDrive Controller
The central control unit for iDrive, allowing operation of various functions via the Control Display. Four frequently selected menus (CD, radio, navigation system, telephone) can be accessed via direct control buttons.
Ceramic Applications
Optional ceramic finish for controls such as the Start/Stop button and Controller, lending the interior a premium feel.
Functional Bookmarks
Allows the driver and front passenger to store frequently used navigation, audio, and telephone functions on eight separate buttons for quick access.
Control Display
A high-resolution TFT screen (7.5-inch standard, 10.2-inch optional with Navigation system Professional or TV function) displays system functions operated via the Controller.
Integrated Owner's Handbook
Offers fast and direct access to car-specific information, operated via the iDrive Controller and displayed on the Control Display, using multimedia techniques like animations and dynamic graphics.
BMW Assist*
Helps the driver by making automatic or manual emergency calls and providing precise location data. Includes the "My Info" service for sending text messages and address information to the BMW.
BMW Online*
Provides access to internet-based services, including email, news, stock market figures, and weather information.
TV Function
Allows the Control Display to be used as a television when the car is stationary, receiving terrestrial analogue and digital programmes (DVB-T).

Radio BMW Professional
Features a 4-channel amplifier, 2-tuner reception, aerial diversity, scan function, DVD drive, and MP3 decoder.
DAB Tuner
For auxiliary reception of digital audio programmes.
DVD Changer
Located above the glove compartment, it is suitable for playback of MP3s and audio CDs, holding up to six DVDs.
HiFi Loudspeaker System
Available as a HiFi loudspeaker system with digital amplifier and 12 loudspeakers, or as HiFi System Professional, featuring a nine-channel amplifier (maximum 600-watt output), 16 high-performance loudspeakers, precise crossover networks, and Dirac Live technology for a timed and linear sound reproduction.
AUX-IN Connection
Includes a 12-V power point to hook up an external audio source, such as an MP3 player.
USB/Audio Interface
Allows connection of an iPod, USB stick, or MP3 player. Music tracks are displayed on the radio or Control Display and can be operated using steering wheel buttons, the radio, or the iDrive Controller.
Hard Disc Storage Unit
Provides 12 GB of storage for music files, transferable from CD, MP3 player, or USB stick (only in conjunction with Navigation system Professional).
Navigation System Professional*
Features a high-resolution 10.2-inch color display, hard disc storage unit, USB audio interface, extended trip computer functionality, and dynamic route planning with voice output, arrows, or route map and split-screen function.
BMW Night Vision
Uses an infrared camera to detect people and animals up to a distance of 300 meters, transferring images directly onto the Control Display. It includes pedestrian recognition, which sends a warning signal to the driver if a person moves onto the road outside the beam of light (available in conjunction with Navigation system Professional and TV function).
In combination with BMW Night Vision, the appearance of the twin kidneys is slightly modified to enable optimal integration of the thermal imaging camera.

Comfort Seats
For driver and front passenger, with electric adjustment, including comfort head-restraints (outer contact surface adjustable) with active function. Also features adjustment of upper backrest segment, backrest width, thigh rest, and head-rest height, including lumbar support and memory function for seats, exterior mirrors, and steering column.
Seat Heating
Seat surface and backrest are heated for driver and front passenger seats, providing warmth. Heated seat surface and backrest are also available for the outer rear seats.
Active Seat Ventilation
Front seats feature ventilation to enhance summer comfort by ensuring a pleasantly cool seat temperature. Ventilators in the seat surface and backrest blow air through perforated seat covers. Active seat ventilation for the rear is also available.
Active Seats
For driver and front passenger, these seats mobilize pelvis and lumbar vertebrae through alternating, cyclical up/down adjustments of the seat surface, promoting relaxed sitting and driving on longer journeys.
Lumbar Support
Electrically adjustable in height and depth for driver and front passenger, providing an ergonomically perfect seat position and support for back muscles (standard on 750i/Li).
Rear Compartment Luxury
Rear Comfort Seats
Electrically adjustable, including height-adjustable electric headrests, belt force limiter, terminal position tensioner for outer belts, and two cup-holders.
Sunblind
Electric sunblind for the rear window offers protection from intense sunlight and prying eyes (standard on 7 Series long-wheelbase version). Electric sunblinds for the rear side windows are also available.
Massage Function in the Rear
Relaxes back muscles with 12 air chambers in the backrest generating a wave-like motion and six chambers rotating from shoulders over the lumbar region (available in conjunction with rear comfort seats).
Climate Control for Rear Compartment
Extended function with additional air conditioning system and special ceiling-mounted outlets for completely draught-free and individual climate control for rear passengers (available for 7 Series long-wheelbase version in conjunction with electric glass roof, automatic tailgate operation, and 4-zone automatic climate control).
Vanity Mirrors
Illuminated vanity mirrors in the rear roof lining for the two outer seats (standard on 7 Series long-wheelbase version).

Rear Entertainment System Professional
Includes two 9.2-inch color monitors in the front seats, each with two sets of headphones and AUX-IN inputs. The tilt-adjustable monitors can be operated independently. - Figures are based on a 90% tank filling, driver's weight of 68 kg and 7 kg of luggage. Unladen weight applies to vehicles with standard equipment. Optional extras may increase these figures.
- The petrol engines are designed for RON 98 fuel. They may be run on fuel up to RON 95 with a slight decrease in engine output.
- All engines conform to the EU5 standard. Fuel consumption is determined according to the ECE combined cycle (93/116/EG) in which approx. one third of the distance covered is in urban traffic and two thirds is extra-urban. CO2 emissions are measured in addition to fuel consumption. Consumption figures apply to cars with standard equipment. Optional extras (e.g. wider tyres) may affect consumption significantly.
