Allmatic BAX900 Programmable Control Unit for Curtains

Installation Manual

1. Introduction

The BAX900 control unit is a central system developed for the simple and intuitive control of curtains. This product controls 230 Vac motors up to 1000W. It is equipped with an output for courtesy light and is compatible with B.ro transmitters with 2 or 3 buttons. It also features an input for photocells.

ATTENTION: DO NOT INSTALL THE CONTROL UNIT WITHOUT READING THIS MANUAL!!!

2. Configuration

The control unit is supplied with dip-switches set to the factory default configuration as shown in Fig.1. The table below indicates the functions selectable by these dip-switches.

Fig.1: Factory configuration of the dip-switches
dip Function Dip OFF Dip ON
1 Opening function Manual (dead man) Impulse opening
2 Closing function Manual (dead man) Impulse closing
3 Operating time Programmable Infinite
4 Impulse function Open-Close Step-by-step (GO function)

3. Electrical Connections

The control unit is supplied with all normally closed inputs shunted to common. Before connecting a device to the control unit, remove the shunt corresponding to the equipment to be wired, leaving the others unchanged.

  1. Power Supply: Connect the power cable between terminals 10 and 11. The unit requires a 230 Vac, 50Hz power supply. Ensure a suitable disconnection device is used.
  2. Courtesy Light: Connect an optional courtesy light between terminals 12 and 13. This output can power a 230Vac 500W MAX load and will remain active for 3 minutes after each movement command (up or down).
  3. Motor Connections: Connect the motor's neutral to terminal 14, phase 1 to terminal 15, and phase 2 to terminal 16. Verify motor wiring for correct installation.
  4. STOP Button: Connect a normally closed STOP contact between terminals 1 and 2. If unused, shunt terminal 1 to terminal 2. An open STOP input will cause the automation to stop automatically.
  5. OPEN Button: Connect the OPEN button between terminals 2 and 3. Leave open if unused. Activating the OPEN button sends an opening command to the automation.
  6. CLOSE Button: Connect the CLOSE button between terminals 2 and 4. Leave open if unused. Activating the CLOSE button sends a closing command to the automation.
  7. Photocell: Connect a normally closed photocell contact (PHOTO) between terminals 2 and 5. If unused, shunt terminal 2 to terminal 5. The photocell can cause the automation to stop or reverse movement.
  8. Accessories Power: Connect accessories to terminals 6 and 7. The control unit provides a 24 Vdc voltage.
  9. Flashing Light: Connect an optional flashing light with an auto-flashing circuit between terminals L 10 (input phase) and N 14 (motor neutral). The output activates simultaneously with the motor.

4. Indicator LEDs

5. Preliminary Checks

Preliminary checks should be performed by qualified personnel. Correct motor wiring is crucial for proper automation operation.

  1. After checking wiring and ensuring no short circuits, unlock the motor and power the system. Check the status of the "photo" and "stop" indicator LEDs. All normally closed inputs should have their corresponding LED lit.
  2. Press the wired OPEN button. The automation should operate in the opening direction.
  3. Press the wired CLOSE button. The automation should operate in the closing direction. If not, invert the connections between terminals 15 and 16.

6. Learning Transmitters

6.1 Learning a two-button transmitter

  1. STOP AUTOMATION: Ensure the automation is stopped.
  2. Press and release the RADIO LEARN button on the control unit. The buzzer will emit long beeps every second.
  3. Press and release the UP button on the remote control. The buzzer will emit a short beep.
  4. Wait a few seconds for automatic memorization of the DOWN button, or press and release the DOWN button on the remote control. The buzzer will emit a short beep followed by two long beeps and two short beeps.

Both buttons are memorized, and the procedure is complete. Repeat the procedure to learn a new transmitter.

6.2 Learning a three-button transmitter

  1. STOP AUTOMATION: Ensure the automation is stopped.
  2. Press and release the RADIO LEARN button on the control unit. The buzzer will emit long beeps every second.
  3. Press and release the UP button on the remote control. The buzzer will emit a short beep.
  4. Press and release the STOP button on the remote control. The buzzer will emit a short beep.
  5. Press and release the DOWN button on the remote control. The buzzer will emit a short beep followed by two long beeps and two short beeps.

All three buttons are memorized, and the procedure is complete. Repeat the procedure to learn a new transmitter.

Note: If the buzzer emits a long beep and two short beeps, the transmitter was already memorized. If no signal is emitted, verify that the remote control is functioning and is from the B.ro series.

7. Functions Selectable by Dip-Switch

IMPORTANT: Change dip-switch settings only when the unit is powered OFF. Disconnect power before changing configuration.

7.1 Opening/Closing Function

This function allows you to choose the opening/closing mode of the automation:

The impulse mode (Dip 4) can be selected for the impulse function.

7.2 Operating Time

7.3 Impulse Function

When Dip 1 and Dip 2 are set to ON, the following functions are activated:

The "GO" function is automatically excluded if Dip 1 and/or Dip 2 are set to ON.

8. Setting Operating Time

This allows you to set the automation's operating time, adjustable between 1.5 seconds and 90 seconds. This function is excluded if manual (dead man) operation is selected.

9. Safety Device Intervention

The intervention of safety devices varies according to the control unit's operating settings:

10. Memory Reset

This control unit allows you to erase individual transmitters or all memorized transmitters.

To erase all transmitters:

  1. Disconnect power to the control unit.
  2. Press and hold the "Radio Learn" button.
  3. Power the control unit.
  4. The control unit will emit a long beep followed by two short beeps.
  5. Release the "Radio Learn" button. After a few seconds, the unit will emit two short beeps, indicating the memory has been erased.

To erase a single transmitter:

  1. Press and hold the "Radio Learn" button; the control unit will emit a long beep every second.
  2. Simultaneously press and hold the hidden button and the UP button on the transmitter to be erased.
  3. The unit will emit a slow beep, followed by 4 rapid beeps, a one-second pause, and then 2 rapid beeps.
  4. The transmitter erasure is complete.

Warnings and Advice

12. Troubleshooting Guide

PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTIONS
1) Green "Power On" LED does not light up • The unit is not powered.
• The fuse is damaged.
• Check wiring and power the unit.
• Check the fuse with a tester and replace it with one of the same characteristics (6.3A 250V).
2) Remote control buttons have no effect on the unit. • The remote control has not been learned.
• The transmitter is not compatible with the control unit.
• Remote control battery is low.
• Perform remote control learning (see chapter 6).
• Verify that the remote control is B.ro 433Mhz.
• Replace the remote control battery.
3) Pressing the UP button on the remote control causes the automation to close. • Motor wiring is incorrect. • Re-wire the motor by inverting terminals 13 and 14.
4) Pressing the DOWN button on the remote control causes the automation to close. • Motor wiring is incorrect. • Re-wire the motor by inverting terminals 13 and 14.
5) "Photo" LED is not lit. • The photocell is in alarm due to an obstacle.
• The photo input is not shunted.
• Remove the obstacle.
• If the photocell is not used, shunt inputs 2 and 5. If inputs 3 and 4 (from the top) of the molex are not used, shunt them (see diagram page 1).
6) "Stop" LED is off. • The "stop" button used is a normally open contact.
• The input is not shunted if the stop button is not used.
• Check the button type and replace if necessary.
• If the stop button is not used, shunt inputs 1 and 2.
7) Cannot enter the learning phase. • The automation is not stopped. • Send a stop command and try again.
