Introduction

Zebra's EMC Software Licensing Platform Has Been Upgraded In 2025

An improved license management experience for enterprise-grade applications. A scalable license platform designed to service Zebra's growing suite of EMC applications.

What This Means for Our Customers:

1. Enhanced User Experience

   The user experience for managing licenses has been improved.

2. License Manager Update Required

   An update to the License Manager application on devices is required to work with the new license platform.

3. No Immediate Impact To Your Business

   Existing licensed software applications will continue to work. After the legacy license server is decommissioned at the end of 2025, the new license manager application will be required to get licenses.

2. License Manager Update Required
   • On-device License Manager app update is required for it to work with the new license platform.
   • Customers should complete the upgrade by December 31st, 2025, after which the old licensing platform would have been fully decommissioned.
3. No Immediate Impact To Your Business
   • Existing licensed software applications will continue to work.
   • Once the legacy license server is decommissioned at the end of 2025, the new license manager application would be required to get licenses.

April 1st, 2025, Till December 31st, 2025: Migration Period Scenarios (Business As Usual BUT Recommend Updating the License Manager Application)

• Pre-Migration Period Scenarios.
• Existing Fleet of Devices and New Devices That Have Been Migrated (i.e., License Manager App Has Been Updated).
• New Devices Requiring Licenses for EMC Software.

After January 1st, 2026: Post Migration Period Scenarios (Recommend Updating the License Manager Application)

• Your Existing Fleet of Devices That Have Been Migrated (i.e., License Manager App Has Been Updated).
• New Devices Requiring Licenses for EMC Software.
• Your Existing Fleet of Devices That Have Not Been Migrated (i.e., License Manager App Has Not Been Updated).

Note: A migration is defined as the update of License Manager on all of a customer's devices.

Major Changes with Thales

Important Dates

• All orders after Sept 29, 2025, will automatically receive Thales licenses.
• Order Automation will be converted to automatically send out Thales licenses for all perpetual license orders.
• Revenera server will be decommissioned on Dec 31, 2025.
• Encourage all customers to migrate their devices ahead of this date.
• Will not be able to support add-on orders / management of Flexera licenses beyond this date.
• Customers with perpetual / subscription licenses will be operational after this date.
• License files are on the devices and are only removed if sent in for repair or device is factory reset.
• Devices sent in for repair after the above date will need to be migrated to Thales.
• LLS will continue to work if set to completely offline.

Impact to Customers

Server-Based Licensing

• Work Cloud Communications / Z-DNA Cloud – already fully migrated.
• Device Guardian – targeted for migration later this month.
• Migration is completely transparent to customers.

Device-based Licensing

• Applications that utilize License Manager Application on Android: Customers will need to push the new License Manager (LM) application and activate using the new Badge ID either directly or through an MDM.
• Applications utilizing License Manager Application v14.1.1:

Steps for Migration

1. Install the latest version of License Manager on your devices, found here: License Manager Application Support page.
2. If the network is firewalled, please submit a ticket with your IT network to open access to the new IP addresses listed below:
   • https://zebratechnologies.prod.sentinelcloud.com
   • Port 443
3. If leveraging an MX XML or the Managed Configuration option for mass distribution, then:
   1. If utilizing StageNOW, the latest version of StageNOW, v5.15, needs to be downloaded from the StageNOW Support site.
   2. Create a new MX XML or Managed Configuration assignment for the new License Manager utilizing your newly created and provided Badge ID and Product name for the Thales licensing system.
4. Apply the new license and activate the new Badge ID / Product Name for your devices via your preferred bulk distribution mechanism.
5. Test your business applications to confirm that the new licensing system works.

Manage Software Licensing for Zebra Products

Zebra Software Licensing (ZSL) enables you to manage Zebra software entitlement and download packages for some Zebra software. Access the portal to download software and to view and manage entitlement to software downloads, total licenses owned/used, available upgrades, activation IDs, and more.

To enhance the customer experience related to license management, Zebra Software Licensing will be migrating from Zebra's legacy, existing licensing servers to a new licensing server platform.

Migration Details and Timing

The following software can be managed through the portal:

• Workcloud Communication (Workforce Connect) Voice Client
• Enterprise Browser (v. 2.X and later)

Thales Enhanced Partner Portal (EPP)

The Thales Enhanced Partner Portal (EPP) provides access to customer inventory, order details, and activation information.

You can view details such as Order Date, SO Number, PO Number, Contract Number, Badge ID, Product, Partner, End Customer Name, Activated, and Available licenses.
