New in License Manager 15.0.4
Local License Server Activation
- Users can now activate licenses through a local license server, enabling seamless integration within local network environments.
- Enhances security by limiting license activation to local network access.
- Reduces dependency on external internet connectivity for license management.
- Simplifies license distribution and management across multiple users within the organization.
Preactivated File Activation
- Supports activation using preactivated license files, offering a convenient alternative for offline license management.
- Simplifies license deployment without requiring a direct connection to the license server.
- Facilitates license management in environments with limited or no internet access.
- Streamlines the activation process for bulk license deployments.
- Allows StageNow or an EMM system to block/unblock device-user access to licensing UI. This feature is applicable only for ZLicenseMgr users.
- Supports Delegation Scopes to grant third-party apps access to Zebra-app interfaces designated as accessible for use by non-Zebra apps.
Resolved Issues
- SPR-57761 - ZLicenseMgr 14.0.10 - Enterprise Browser randomly displays 'Device clock check failed'
- TUT-109588 - Identity Guardian no longer blocks the screen on fresh installation when valid IG license is available before deploying the profile from DNA Cloud.
Usage Notes
- ZLicenseMgr version 14.x.x series will be supporting activation by Badge Id.
- ZLicenseMgr version 15.x.x series will be supporting activation Badge Id, local license server and offline activation.
- Activating a BADGEID-based license using License Manager erases licenses that were activated with previous versions of the app, which were part of the device OS build.
- Before associating a device with a new BADGEID, it's important to release all licenses from the device to ensure compliance, security, and proper resource management.
- After upgrading License Manager on the device, a reboot is recommended to ensure all changes are properly applied and the system functions optimally.
- If License Manager is downgraded, there is a possibility of losing licenses, so it's important to redeploy a license reactivation profile that is applicable and supported by the downgraded version.
- In the event of a clock reset leading to an invalid license state, it is necessary to correct the clock settings and perform a license reactivation to update and restore the license state.
- To prevent a profile from being applied multiple times through SOTI FileSync, enable the "Execute Script Only if Files Transmitted" option to ensure scripts are executed only when new files are transmitted.
- When upgrading License Manager using the adb install -r command, it's possible to encounter the "INSTALL_FAILED_SESSION_INVALID” error. However, the installation should still succeed.
- EMM systems that do not support managed enterprise apps or the FileSync option for deploying MX profiles can use Zebra OEMConfig and XML pass-through to upgrade License Manager on the device.
- For Android 8 through Android 11, Zebra recommends using the legacy OEMConfig tool. For Android 13 or later, the newer version of OEMConfig should be used.
- Local license server activation and offline activation are supported only on devices with Android 8 or later.
- With local license server, activation occurs based on the feature name and version.
- For offline activation copy the pre-activated license file to /sdcard/Android/data/com.zebra.licensemgrservice/
