SFA SANI ACCESS 1 & 2 Macerator Pump Installation and User Guide
This document provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the SFA SANI ACCESS 1 and SANI ACCESS 2 macerator pumps.
1. Product Description
The SANI ACCESS macerator pumps are compact lift pump units designed for the removal of wastewater from a WC with a horizontal outlet, shower*, bidet*, or washbasin* (*depending on the model). They are manufactured in a factory certified to ISO 9001, ensuring a high level of performance, safety, and reliability when installed and used correctly. The units conform to EN 12050-3 and European standards for electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility.
Important Safety Note: This device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory, or mental abilities, or those with minimal experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised and receive necessary instructions for use from a responsible person. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the device.
2. Applications
These macerator pumps are designed to evacuate wastewater from toilets, showers, bidets, and washbasins. They are suitable for domestic use.
3. Installation
The unit must be installed in the same room as the WC and any other connected sanitary appliances to ensure accessibility for inspection and maintenance. Installation and operation must comply with local regulations and the EN 12056-4 standard.
To optimize soundproofing:
- Position the WC pan so it does not touch a wall or partition.
- Place the unit on a perfectly level surface to ensure the anti-vibration mounts function correctly.
- Secure the discharge pipework correctly, with fastenings no more than one meter apart.
4. Electrical Connection
Electrical installation must be carried out by a qualified professional. The unit requires a 220/240V single-phase AC 50 Hz supply. The power supply circuit must be earthed (Class I) and protected by a 30mA high-sensitivity RCD (Residual Current Device). Ensure the power is turned OFF at the main switch before any wiring work. All wiring must conform to relevant electrical installation standards (e.g., BS7671 in the UK). The unit must be wired directly into a fused, unswitched, fixed wiring connector (fitted with a 5A fuse), not a conventional plug and socket.
Wiring Colours: Brown (Live), Blue (Neutral), Green/Yellow (Earth).
Diagram Description (Page 5): Shows a plug being inserted into a wall socket, illustrating the electrical supply requirement.
5. Commissioning the Unit
After completing all hydraulic and electrical connections, flush the WC several times. Check that all seals and connections are watertight. Verify the watertightness of connections to sanitary appliances (WC, shower*, bidet*, washbasin*).
6. Maintenance
WARNING: In case of prolonged absence, turn off the main water supply and protect the installation against frost.
Cleaning and Descaling: Regularly use a suitable descaling product (e.g., SFA SANIBROYEUR) to remove scale and clean the macerator and bowl. Disconnect power, pour descaler into the pan, let it stand for 1-2 hours, then reconnect power and rinse by flushing twice. Perform this every 3 months, adjusting frequency based on water hardness.
7. Troubleshooting
Before attempting any troubleshooting, always disconnect the macerator from the power supply.
Symptom | Probable Cause | Remedy |
---|---|---|
Motor does not start | Power supply not active or defective. Motor or control system defect. | Connect appliance. Check power supply. Consult authorized service agent if problem persists. |
Motor rattles/hums but does not run | Foreign object blocking motor. Motor or control system defect. | Remove foreign object. Consult authorized service agent if problem persists. |
Unit operates intermittently | Connected sanitary appliances are dripping. Non-return valve is faulty. | Check upstream installation. Clean or replace non-return valve. |
Motor runs normally but does not stop or runs for too long | Installation height or length exceeds specification, or too many bends. Pump cover plate partially obscured/blocked. | Check installation. Consult authorized service agent if problem persists. |
Unit stops | Unit ran for too long (thermal cut-out). Air dispenser clogged up. Motor problem. | Wait for reset, then consult authorized service agent if necessary. Clear air relief hole. Consult authorized service agent if problem persists. Check installation. |
Motor runs erratically, water slowly drains | Shower installed too low relative to macerator. Hinged side inlet discs clogged up. | Check installation. Clean discs. Consult authorized service agent if problem persists. |
Cloudy water returns to shower (side inlets) | Hinged side inlet discs clogged up. | Clean discs. Consult authorized service agent if problem persists. |
