Adjusting Recording Levels on Cameras
To achieve the cleanest audio signals, it is recommended to set your camera's recording levels appropriately. Camera preamps can be noisy, so setting the level lower (e.g., 1/2 or 1/3 of maximum) is advised.
Sony Camera (e.g., A7S II): Navigate through the camera's menu to find 'Sound Recording' settings. Select 'Audio Rec Level' and choose 'Manual'. Adjust the level using the provided controls.
Canon Camera (e.g., EOS 5D Mark IV): Access the camera's menu, go to 'Sound Recording', then 'Rec. level'. Set it to 'Manual' and adjust the input level as needed.
Panasonic Camera (e.g., LUMIX GH5): Within the camera's menu, locate 'Sound Recording' and 'Rec. level'. Set the recording mode to 'Manual' and adjust the microphone input level.

Setting the Recording Level Correctly
Camera devices often have lower-quality, noisy preamps. To ensure the cleanest possible signal, it is highly recommended to set the recording level on your camera significantly lower than its maximum, typically around 1/2 or 1/3 of the full scale.
Gain Control
The SYNCO G1 system features variable gain control. The initial gain setting reflects the microphone's original volume. Each press of the gain control button increases the gain by one level, up to a maximum of four levels. Pressing the button when the gain is at its maximum level will reset it to the initial value.
