Monitor Audio ASB-10 Owners Manual
Introduction
In 2013 Monitor Audio released the award winning ASB-2, which raised the 'bar' of what is possible from an active soundbar. Born from this success, Monitor Audio is pleased to bring you the ASB-10, a Bluetooth enabled active soundbar with a much larger sound than its cabinet size would suggest. Like its bigger brother, the ASB-10 is capable of producing large scale 5.1 '3D' audio without the need for multiple surround speakers. For added bass depth and sonic weight, the ASB-10 can be paired wirelessly with the WT-10 subwoofer or WR-1 for connecting other subwoofers (sold separately). Monitor Audio hopes your new purchase brings you many years of listening pleasure!

Getting Started
Deciding on location
The ASB-10 is a very versatile product; it can be placed on a cabinet/shelf siting it on the supplied rubber feet. It can also be mounted to a wall using screws, which the ASB-10 will hook onto via keyhole fixings. It can also be mounted below a flat panel TV using the Sanus VMA202 Soundbar Speaker Mount. Refer to www.sanus.com for further information.
Rubber Feet
The ASB-10 comes with rubber feet for fitting on the underside of the cabinet. This is used to prevent it from moving when placed on a shelf or cabinet.
Making the Connections
Now that the location has been decided, connect the sources to the ASB-10 ensuring that none of the cables are kinked or stretched. NOTE: Do not connect the power to the ASB-10 until you have made all of your audio/video connections.

Audio from the TV connects to the ASB-10 via Optical, Coaxial, or Auxiliary inputs. A Bluetooth device connects wirelessly to the ASB-10. The ASB-10 connects to a WS-10 Wireless Subwoofer via a subwoofer cable.
Connecting the Power
Now that all of the signal cables are connected, it is time to connect the power.
IMPORTANT: Please follow the below instructions in sequence.
- Connect the mains lead to the ASB-10.
- Connect to wall socket and where applicable turn on.
- The ASB-10 starts in standby mode (solid Red LED). Press the standby button to activate the ASB-10. The front LED will flash Blue during bootup and settle on the last selected input.

Stream Music Using Bluetooth
Entering Bluetooth Mode
Before proceeding, please ensure the ASB-10 is turned on from standby mode. Press the Bluetooth Source button on the front of the ASB-10 (item 3 on page 3) to enter Bluetooth pairing, the LED will start flashing Cyan.
Pairing Bluetooth Devices
With Bluetooth now being such a widely used protocol across a vast array of devices such as iOS, Android, PC, Mac and Windows Phones, the process of connecting via Bluetooth will vary across devices. Below are some generalised steps to get you started, but please refer to your device's instructions for more information.
- Go to the Bluetooth settings of your playback device and enable Bluetooth.
- Select and connect to ‘Monitor Audio ASB-10...’. Once paired, the LED on the front of the ASB-10 will change to solid Cyan.
- Start playing audio from your device using your preferred application.
NOTE: Volume controls will remain independent of each other.
Unpairing Bluetooth Devices
When a device has been previously paired (the ASB-10 will store the 5 most recent devices), it will automatically pair when the ASB-10 is available and Bluetooth is enabled on said device. When paired with a device, the ASB-10's front LED will be solid Cyan in the Bluetooth input.
- To pair a new device and disconnect the currently connected device, hold down the Bluetooth Source button (item 3 on page 3).
- Once unpaired with a device, the ASB-10's front LED will start flashing Cyan.
USB Firmware Update
To update the firmware by USB memory stick, the update firmware needs to be downloaded first.
NOTE: The memory stick must be formatted as FAT32 and the file that is downloaded saved on to the root folder of the drive.
- On your PC/Mac, open the internet browser and go to www.monitoraudio.com and navigate to either the ASB-10 page or the Support page.
- Download and "unzip" the update file.
- Copy the file named 'asb1_mcu.bin' or 'asb1_ess.rom' and save it to the USB stick. When it has been copied/saved, safely remove the USB stick.
- Ensure the ASB-10 is switched on and out of standby mode. Then press and hold the standby button until the LED on the front starts to flash Purple.
- Insert the USB stick into the USB input on the ASB-10 (item 6 on page 3). The ASB-10 will switch to standby once the update is complete.

- Slide the drawer back into the remote.
Trouble Shooting
If experiencing problems with the Airstream ASB-10, there are some quick and easy checks, which may help to solve these problems.
- Unable to Connect using Bluetooth
- Check that your streaming device is Bluetooth enabled and paired with the ASB-10.
- If you cannot find the ASB-10, you may need to enable the discovery of devices.
- Keep away from potential sources of interference which may affect Bluetooth signal, such as microwave ovens.
- If you cannot connect to the ASB-10 and the ASB-10 is displaying a solid Cyan LED in the Bluetooth input, then another device may already be paired with the ASB-10. Hold down the Bluetooth Source button (item 3 on page 3) to unpair the connected device and make the ASB-10 discoverable (refer to page 9 for further information).
- If audio is breaking up, reduce the distance from the ASB-10.
- The ASB-10 has Forgotten my Bluetooth Device
- The ASB-10 will only remember one Bluetooth device at a time. Once a new device has been paired, the original device will be forgotten.
- No Sound
- Check the volume, mute, source, and play/pause settings. The volume controls will work independently on the device and ASB-10.
- Check that the mains power lead is connected to the ASB-10 and the mains power socket and is switched on at the wall.
- The ASB-10 is Nonresponsive
- Check that the mains power lead is connected to the ASB-10 and the mains power socket and is switched on at the wall.
- Remove the power from the ASB-10, wait for the LED to go out, and then reconnect the power.
