Important Notice
Always check the vehicles VIN Plate, if Gross Train weight isn't present the vehicle Can NOT Tow.
Towbar Installation
- You may find the fitment of this Towbar easier if the bumper is removed.
- Locate the Towing eye fitting to the N/S chassis member and remove the two vertical fixings.
- On vehicles fitted with a rear impact beam remove all fixings and remove the rear beam. (The rear impact beam is NOT refitted with the Towbar assembly)
- On vehicles fitted with separate impact cones remove fixings and remove impact cones from the vehicle. (The rear impact cones are NOT refitted with the Towbar assembly)
- Using Item D with Item G fix Item A to the rear panel. Note some models may require Item J to be used on the top fixing, this is inserted through the larger hole just below on the rear panel. Large hole may need to be increased to gain access.
- Using Item E with Item H fix each side arm to the inside face of each chassis member.
- Using Item F with Item H fix each side arm to Item A.
- Using Item C fix your desired ball bracket and wiring plate (Not supplied in this kit) to Item A.
- Refit the original two vertical fixings securing the Towing eye.
- Fully tighten all fixings ensuring the Towbar is rigid, square and secure.
Diagram Description
The diagram illustrates the Tow-Trust TFD9 towbar assembly for the Ford Transit/Tourneo Courier. It features a central crossmember labeled 'A' and two side arms labeled 'B'. The diagram shows how various components are attached: The crossmember 'A' is attached to the vehicle's rear panel using bolts labeled 'D' and washers labeled 'G'. Some mounting points may utilize clamp plates labeled 'J'. The side arms 'B' connect to the vehicle's chassis members using bolts labeled 'E' and washers labeled 'H'. The diagram also includes a section labeled "FORD COURIER VIN PLATE" which shows a generic layout of a vehicle's VIN plate with numerous labels, including a prominent "G = Gross Train Weight" indicator. The labels on the towbar assembly itself (A-J) directly correspond to the parts listed in the table.
Notes
- Recommended Torque Setting for M12 Grade 10.9 -139 Nm. (For other Torque Settings see notes overleaf.)
- Nose load limits and vehicle manufacturers trailer / caravan weight limits must be observed.
