Flexibility: Across the Entire Lifespan

Wherever you are on the move – solve your traction task efficiently and cost-effectively. And only invest in what you need.

Sensible Modularity

Vectron focuses on what's essential: your success. That's why the vehicle concept makes no compromises in terms of modularity. Modularized identical parts such as the front end, driver's cab, brake equipment, and control technology ensure uniform operation and control, as well as optimized Life Cycle Costs.

High-Performance Variants

The importance of international traffic on Europe's main corridors is growing. Serve today's main routes as well as future growth regions. The electric variants Vectron AC, DC, and MS (multi-system) enable operation in four different voltage systems. They prove themselves with pure traction and cost efficiency. For non-electrified routes, the Vectron DE offers a highly environmentally friendly diesel locomotive.

Pioneering Country Packages

Discover new freedoms in cross-border operations. Vectron is flexibly scalable through country and equipment packages. As a national operator, you receive a tailor-made locomotive for your operating country.

Equipped precisely with the performance and components you need in your region – without carrying along cost-intensive, dispensable systems.

Flexible Retrofitting

For the electric Vectron, a pre-equipment package ensures that wiring and installation spaces for all train protection systems in Central Europe are already on board. This makes it possible to add or remove train protection systems at any time. This concept not only saves considerable approval effort but also gains valuable time that you can use on the rails.

Seamless Interoperability: Different voltages, various train protection systems, increasing transport weights: The interoperable Vectron locomotives create new freedom in cross-border traffic. And naturally, they meet all relevant TSI standards. Utilize cross-border connections whenever your business requires it.

Future-Proof Train Protection Concept: Vectron is designed for cost-effective ERTMS migration. Country-specific configurable and easily exchangeable national systems are intelligently and flexibly connected to an ETCS core for the first time. This concept saves considerable space and costs – and makes Vectron a pioneer in ETCS approvals.

Flexibility: Over the Entire Lifespan

Route requirements change. Adapt with us – and leave technical hurdles on continental European rail networks and ERTMS corridors behind you.

Responsive Depot Locomotive Concept

Market opportunities often arise at short notice. We manufacture standard-approved Vectron preferred variants even without customer orders. This guarantees you the shortest delivery times so you can seize opportunities quickly.

Availability: Anytime and Anywhere

You deserve it when your vehicles are running. Trust service experts who know Vectron like the back of their hand. And enjoy the freedom that reliable technology gives you.

Needs-Oriented Service

Depending on the fleet and routes served, locomotive maintenance can be complex. Spare parts must be available at the right time and in the right place. Service personnel must be specially trained. And cross-border maintenance networks are often necessary to react quickly in case of an emergency. Our answer to these challenges is Railcover. The service concept is modularly structured. Choose from a wide range of well-thought-out modules: from support by mobile technicians in our service network and a 24/7 hotline to comprehensive service. Our central spare parts logistics center in Frankfurt enables EU-wide spare parts supply in the shortest possible time. Put together your individual service package from what you really need.

Modularized Identical Parts

Minimize spare parts inventory costs. Even with a mixed fleet of different Vectron variants, you can use a wide range of identical parts. Because Vectron is a true platform, you need fewer spare parts. And this also simplifies service processes.

Unified Software

Simplify your fleet management. All Vectron variants run on the same software. Whether Vectron AC, DC, or MS – experience from the entire Vectron fleet flows into every single vehicle. The adaptations are tested and validated on Siemens' own vehicles. This ensures the operation of your locomotives.

Sustainability: For Business and the Environment

Efficiency decides. Remain calm even with stricter environmental regulations. And look forward to permanently low operating costs.

Efficient Energy Use

Reduce energy costs. Vectron supports you with an optimized system design and various functions for energy-efficient parking. The electric Vectron enables increased electrical braking force of 240 kN. The recovered energy is used highly efficiently to supply auxiliary consumers – and fed back into the grid where possible. Vectron's energy efficiency protects your wallet and the environment.

Intelligent Driver Assistance

Turn another adjustment screw. Driving behavior also influences energy consumption. With Vectron Eco Cruise, you can tap into savings potential here. The driver assistance system provides the driver with recommendations for energy-optimized driving. Direct connection to the AFB relieves the driver. However, the driver retains full control at all times and can manually override Vectron Eco Cruise without deactivating it.

Higher Wheelset Life

Wheel wear cannot be avoided. But its effects can be reduced: The electric Vectron locomotives have a greater wheel wear reserve of 90 mm compared to the usual 80 mm. This means the wheelsets need to be replaced less frequently. The result: less working time and material costs.

Lowest Emissions

Meet the strictest environmental regulations even with diesel locomotives. Vectron DE is equipped with a Stage IIIB diesel engine and a particle filter as standard. The improved drive efficiencies keep fuel consumption and emissions in check.

Environmental Compatibility Throughout the Entire Lifecycle: With a total weight of 85 tons and a recycling rate of 98%, only 1,700 kg of residual material remains after recycling a Vectron electric locomotive. This is a weight comparable to that of a mid-range car.

Weight Comparison: 85,000 kg (Vectron) vs. Residual Material (1,700 kg)
