To ensure the mini box hub connects to Wi-Fi, it needs to meet the following requirements:
The mobile device must be connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network before using the HOMGAR app. The hub must remain connected to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi to function normally.
When starting and maintaining a Wi-Fi connection, ensure the hub remains powered on for normal operation.
iOS Requirements: Mobile device with iOS 11.0 (or higher) with cellular or Wi-Fi service.
Android Requirements: Mobile device with Android OS 6.0 (or higher) with cellular or Wi-Fi service.
Do not use public Wi-Fi networks.
The hub and the mobile device should be within 10 feet (3m) during pairing.
If the working Wi-Fi network needs to be changed, press and hold the button on the hub to reset it and reconnect.
Plug in the mini box hub near the router and follow these steps to connect:
a. After registering an account and entering the APP page, find the "+" button on the top right corner of the APP's Home Page. The home page displays "My Home", current temperature (e.g., 37°/25°), weather information (e.g., SSW 11km, Rain), and navigation tabs for "All Devices", "Living room", "Garden". The "Add Device" page shows categories like "Hub", "Controller", "Sensor", and "Other", with various device icons including "Mini Box Hub".
b. Select "Mini Box Hub", then enter the Wi-Fi information and proceed. The "Add Device" screen prompts to "Select 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and enter password", noting that WiFi 5, Wi-Fi 6, and dual-band routers may need 2.4 GHz band splitting and smart connect disabling. It shows detected Wi-Fi networks (e.g., "3#meeting") and a field for "WiFi Password".
c. Follow the guide on the APP to press and hold the button on the mini box hub for about 5 seconds until the connecting indicator quickly blinks. The app screen shows "Smart WiFi Connection" with instructions: "1. Power on the device. 2. Hold the button on the device until the LED flashes rapidly. (Note: Please make sure the device is close enough to the WIFI router)". A checkbox for "All steps completed" and a "Next" button are present.
d. Select the check box and go "Next" to start searching for devices. The "Add Device" screen shows "Searching..." with a countdown timer (e.g., 120 seconds) and "Devices Found: *".
e. When a device is found, click "+" to add it and edit the device name as desired. The "Add Device" screen shows "Searching..." with a countdown (e.g., 102 seconds) and "Devices Found: HWG023WRF--(2cd888)". A pop-up allows entering a device name and confirming or canceling.
f. Congratulations! The device is now successfully added to the APP. The app screen displays the device name "HWG023WRF" and an icon representing the hub, along with an "Add Device" button.
Tips: If connection via smart WiFi mode fails, try the AP connection mode or contact the customer support team at support@rainpointonline.com.
When in the connection step before searching, click "Switch Mode" in the upper right corner to switch to AP connection.
Follow the guide on the APP to press and hold the button on the hub for about 5 seconds until it quickly blinks. Then, short press the button again. The app screen for "AP Connection" provides instructions: "1. Power on the device. 2. Hold the button on the device until the LED flashes rapidly. 3. Press the button again, the LED flashes slowly. (Note: Please make sure the device is close enough to the WIFI router)".
When the Hub LED flashes slowly, tick the checkbox on the APP, click "Next", then follow the wizard and click "Go Connecting" to connect your phone to the hotspot (HomGar_xxxx). The app screen prompts to "Connect your phone to the device (Device as a hotspot)" and lists available hotspots (e.g., "HomGar_XXXX"). The phone's Wi-Fi settings screen is shown, listing available networks including "HomGar_F5DD".
Note: If the mobile device prompts to switch WiFi due to no signal, do not switch. Keep the selected hotspot (HomGar_xxxx) to connect.
Return to the app and click "Next" to continue adding devices automatically. The "Searching..." screen with a countdown (e.g., 115 seconds) indicates the device is being added.
