Leaking Test
Procedure:
- Ensure all control valves are in the OFF position. Turn on the gas supply.
- Check all connections from the gas regulator and supply valve up to the manifold pipe assembly. Apply a soap solution (1 part liquid detergent, 1 part water) to the connections. Soap bubbles will appear where a leak is present.
- If a leak is found, immediately turn off the gas supply, tighten the leaky fittings, and recheck.
- If the gas continues to leak, turn off the gas supply and do not use the grill.
Important:
- DO NOT SMOKE WHILE LEAK TESTING.
- NEVER PERFORM LEAK TEST WITH AN OPEN FLAME.
- Always check for leaks after every gas tank change.
- Keep a spray bottle of soapy water handy for checks.
Operation and Lighting
Energy Saving Tips:
- Minimize lid opening time.
- Switch off the grill as soon as cooking is finished.
- Preheat for 10-15 minutes (except for the first use).
- Do not use a higher setting than necessary.
Lighting Instructions:
Caution: The lid must be open when lighting the burner. Do not stand with your face directly over the grill.
Pilot Gas Control Ignition:
- With all gas controls OFF, turn the gas cylinder valve to the ON position.
- Push and hold the control knob (A) for 3-5 seconds to allow gas flow, then turn anticlockwise to "HIGH" (B).
- You should hear a "snap" from the igniter and see a 3-5 inch orange flame from the burner lighting tube (C).
- Continue to hold the burner control knob for two seconds after the "snap" to ensure ignition.
- When the burner is alight, adjacent burners will cross-light when their controls are turned on.
At "HIGH" setting, the burner flame should be approximately 12-20 mm long with a minimum of orange flame. Turn the gas control fully anticlockwise for the minimum setting.
Warning: If the burner still does not light, turn the control knob to "OFF" and wait 5 minutes before attempting to light again.
Storage
Store the gas bottle outdoors in a well-ventilated area, disconnected from the grill, and away from ignition sources. Before using the grill after storage, check for gas leaks and obstructions. Ensure the area under the front panel is clear for proper combustion and ventilation.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Maintenance is recommended every 90 days, and at least annually, to extend the grill's life.
Cleaning Cooking Grids: Wash in mild soap and warm water using a wash cloth or soft brush.
Cleaning Heat Diffusers: Wash in soap and warm water, use a soft brush for residue, and ensure they are dry before reinstalling.
Cleaning Grease Tray: Empty and wipe down periodically. Wash in mild detergent and warm water. A small amount of sand or cat litter can absorb grease. Check frequently to prevent overflow.
Annual Cleaning of Grill Interior:
- Turn all burner valves and LP gas tank valve to OFF.
- Detach LP gas hose and regulator assembly; inspect and replace if damaged.
- Remove and clean heat diffusers, cooking grids, and burners.
- Cover gas valve orifices with aluminum foil.
- Brush and wash the interior and bottom with a nylon brush, mild soap, and warm water. Rinse and dry.
- Remove foil, reinstall heat diffusers, and cooking grids.
- Reconnect gas source and observe burner flame for correct operation.
Cleaning Exterior Surface: Wash with mild soap and warm water using a wash cloth or sponge. Do not use abrasives.
Cleaning Burner Tubes and Burner Ports
To reduce the chance of "FLASH-BACK", clean burner tubes and ports at least monthly, especially after periods of disuse. Follow these steps:
- Turn all burner valves and gas tank valve to OFF.
- Detach the LP gas regulator assembly.
- Remove cooking grids, heat diffusers, and grease tray.
- Remove screws from the underside of each burner and lift burners away from the gas valve orifice.
- Use a bent stiff wire, air hose, or bottle brush to clean debris from the burner tubes.
- Replace burners and screw tightly. Ensure the burner tube fits correctly over the valve orifice for safe operation.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
Burners will not light (ignition system) | LP gas cylinder empty Faulty regulator | Replace with full cylinder Have regulator checked or replaced |
Low flame or flashback (hissing or roaring noise) | Obstructions in burners Obstructions in gas jets or hose | Clean burners Clean jets and hose |
Gas valve knob difficult to turn | Gas valve jammed | Replace gas valve |
If your problem is not resolved, please call the Gas grill helpline.
Side Burners
To maximize yield and minimize gas consumption:
- Once alight, adjust the flame from "Maximum" to "Minimum" as needed.
- Use proper pan sizes (flat bottom only) for each burner.
- When the pan content starts to boil, turn the knob down to the "Reduced rate" position (small flame).
- Always place a lid on the pan.
- Suggested pan diameter: 20-24 cm.
