Carpuride 6.3-inch Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto Motorcycle Display

Installing the Bracket
Follow these steps to mount the bracket:
- Fix the bracket to the handlebar using a Phillips screwdriver.
- Secure the connecting rod to the bracket.
- Insert the device and adjust its position as desired. Tighten the adjustment ring to secure it.
- Installation is complete.
Wiring Diagram
This section outlines the basic wiring for connecting a CarPlay display to a motorcycle:
- Power Cable: The red wire connects to the motorcycle battery's positive terminal via a fuse.
- Ground Wire: The black wire connects to the motorcycle battery's negative terminal.
- USB Cable: Connects to the motorcycle's USB port.
- Wire Controller: A detachable control unit is included.
Note: The exact wiring diagram may vary depending on the specific CarPlay display and motorcycle model. It is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and consult a professional if you are unsure about any aspect of the installation process.
About the Wired Controller
The wired controller features several buttons:
1. Cycle Button
- Short Press: Answer an incoming call.
- Long Press (over 5 seconds): Power off the device.
- Usage with CarPlay: A short press cycles between the last displayed screen and the rearview camera image. If you manually returned to the main screen, it cycles between the main screen and the rearview camera.
- Note for Android Users: When connected to Android, the cycle button does not support answering incoming calls.
- Note for iPhone Users: After connecting your iPhone to Carpuride, if you answer a call by briefly pressing the cycle button, the audio may play from the phone instead of the Bluetooth headphones. You may need to adjust your iPhone's settings to route audio to the connected Bluetooth headphones.
2. Photo Button
- Incoming Call Status: Short press to hang up the call.
- Photo Button Usage: When connected to Apple CarPlay, a short press takes a photo. Holding the button for 3 seconds locks the video recording.
3. Home Button
- Usage: A short press of the HOME button returns you to the main screen. Pressing it again switches to the CarPlay page, allowing you to toggle between the main screen and CarPlay.
- Long Press: Press and hold the HOME button to enter locked page operation. Pressing it again unlocks the page. (In case of strong interference or a storm, press the screen lock button to prevent accidental touches or water ingress).
Main Interface Overview
The main interface features several key icons:
- CarPlay: Access Apple CarPlay functionality for your iPhone.
- Auto: Access Android Auto functionality for your Android phone.
- WiFi Video: Connect your phone to the Carpuride display's WiFi. Scan the QR code to download the companion app. This app allows you to view recorded or live videos stored on the Carpuride display via your phone.
- Audio: Use your mobile phone to connect Bluetooth headphones or headsets.
- Playback: Click to play stored recorded videos.
- Settings: Adjust general, camera, and system configurations.
- Moto DVR: Tap to enter the DVR split-screen view. Swipe to switch between full-screen views of the front and rear cameras.
- Home: Returns you to the main home page.
- Sun Icon ☀️: Adjusts screen brightness automatically or manually.
- Bluetooth WiFi Connection: Use your mobile phone to connect Bluetooth headphones.
- Time: Enter CarPlay or Android Auto to set the time automatically, or manually calibrate the time.
Video Signal Status
- Red Light: Indicates recording is in progress.
- White Light: Indicates recording is off.
Card Display Information
- Card Slot: Supports TF cards and SD cards up to 64GB.
Connections
- Type-C Port: This port is exclusively for software debugging by Carpuride during production and does not support power input.
- SD Card Slot: Designed to be waterproof. A tool is required to open the slot and insert the TF card.
- Connections: Includes Power Cable, Front, Rear, and Controller connections.
About Using Apple CarPlay
Setup Guide:
- Click the Apple CarPlay widget on the SmartScreen.
- Pair your iPhone with the SmartScreen using Bluetooth (e.g., Carpuride-xxxx).
- When your iPhone prompts "Use CarPlay with 'SmartScreen'?", select "Use CarPlay".
Tips for CarPlay:
- Expect a longer waiting time for the initial connection.
- Only iPhones are supported for this feature.
- After a successful connection, Bluetooth will automatically disconnect.
Click the Apple CarPlay icon on the Carpuride screen and follow the on-screen instructions to connect and use Apple CarPlay.
iPhone Connection Setup for CarPlay:
- Turn off Bluetooth and WiFi on your iPhone simultaneously in the settings.
- Your iPhone will search for Bluetooth devices; select "Carpuride-xxx" to pair.
- Click "Pair" when prompted.
- Click "Allow" to grant access to contacts and call history.
- Click "Use CarPlay" to proceed.
Note: CarPlay and Mirrorlink cannot coexist. If your first iPhone connects to CarPlay, to switch to another iPhone for CarPlay, you must first make the first iPhone "forget" the CarPlay connection.
About Using Android Auto
Setup Guide:
- Click the Android Auto widget on the SmartScreen.
- Pair your phone with the SmartScreen via Bluetooth (e.g., Carpuride-xxxx).
Tips for Android Auto:
- Requires an Android phone with Android 11 or higher and 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
- Download the latest Android Auto application on your phone.
Click the Android Auto icon on the Carpuride screen and follow the on-screen instructions to connect and use Android Auto.
Android Phone Connection Setup for Android Auto:
- Navigate to "connected devices" in your phone's settings.
- Add a new device, selecting "carpuride-xxxx".
- Click "Pair" when prompted.
- Activate "carpuride-xxxx" to establish the connection.
About Audio (Bluetooth Transmission)
Connect your phone to your headset or helmet via Bluetooth.
After connecting your mobile phone to the W603 via Bluetooth, you can enter CarPlay or Android Auto and play audio or make calls through your Bluetooth headphones or helmet.
Note: Ensure your Bluetooth headphones or helmet are equipped with microphones for phone calls and voice controls.
About Settings
General Configuration:
- Brightness: Enable or disable automatic brightness adjustment. You can also set a custom range from 0% to 100% to limit the automatic brightness.
- Assistive Touch:
- Off: The assistive button will not be displayed when the CarPlay/Android Auto interface is open.
- On: Open the CarPlay/Android Auto interface and locate the assistive button. Click the accessibility button to choose from the following options: Return to Main Interface, Bluetooth Connectivity Interface, Loop Recording Interface, Brightness Adjustment.
- Clear Connections: This function resets connection records for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and WiFi video features. It clears Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection records. Clicking the "Clear Connections" button allows you to switch between these functions and manually establish a new connection with your mobile phone. You can also use this function to disconnect your currently connected mobile phone.
- Touch Mode: Choose between Normal Mode or Rainwater Mode.
System Configuration:
- Language: Configure language settings for various languages.
- Date and Time: Set the date and time, and choose whether to use the 24-hour format.
- Storage Info: View the memory size of the TF card.
- Format: Format all data on the device.
- Factory Reset: Restore the system to its factory configuration. The device will automatically restart after the restoration.
- Firmware Version: Displays information about the Carpuride display's firmware version.
Adjusting Brightness
The device features a light sensor that can automatically adjust the screen brightness based on the ambient light conditions.
Click the small sun icon ☀️ in the upper right corner to enable or disable the light detection function. If light detection is disabled, you will need to manually slide the adjustment bar to set the screen brightness.
