The drill guide features a broad clamping surface and integrated guides for common post sizes like 4x4 and 6x6. It includes adjustable centering knobs for securing the guide and can accommodate 9/16" holes for tensioners and 3/16" holes for pass-throughs, ensuring accurate 3" cable spacing.
How to Use:
-
1. Find the midline of your post.
This is the first step in preparing your post for drilling.
-
2. Align the drill guide with the underside of your top rail.
For tensioner posts, align the guide so the 9/16" half-circle feature is against the top rail. For pass-through posts, flip the guide over so the 3/16" half-circle feature is against the top rail.
-
3. Center the drill guide holes over your midline.
Position the drill guide precisely over the midline marked on your post. Tighten the adjustable knobs to secure the guide, creating a stable template for drilling. The knobs can be removed if necessary for larger posts.
? PRO TIP: The knobs can be removed for larger posts.
-
4. Clamp the acrylic backer of the drill guide to your post.
Ensure the guide is firmly attached to the post.
-
5. Drill your holes.
Drill through the guide's pre-set holes. For pass-through posts, it is recommended to drill from both sides to maintain a level hole.
? PRO TIP: On pass-through posts, drill from both sides to maintain a level hole.
If you need to drill more holes than the template provides, align the top hole on the template with a previously drilled hole to maintain consistent 3" spacing as you move down your post.
