Description

The NTN-5K is a 5KW highly reliable off-grid true sine wave DC-AC power inverter with built-in AC charger and UPS function (AC by-pass). It offers digital design with MCU control, streamlined control circuitry for quick response to environmental changes, high-quality fan with low acoustic noise, 10KW peak power, adjustable AC output voltage and frequency, and a wide operating temperature range of -30~+70°C. It is suitable for residential, commercial, marine, automobile, mine, construction sites, and remote areas without utility power. The output can power various devices including fans, TVs, radios, phone chargers, PC/laptops, lighting, induction stoves, air conditioners, electromechanical tools, communication equipment, and more.

Derating Curve

The derating curve illustrates the relationship between ambient temperature and the maximum allowable load percentage for the inverter. As the ambient temperature increases, the maximum load capacity decreases to prevent overheating.

Charging Curve

The NTN-5K features a 3-stage charging process for lead-acid and li-ion batteries:

The charging voltage and current settings are adjustable via MODBus/CANBus communication. Specific default values for different models (e.g., NTN-5K-124, NTN-5K-224) are provided in the specification table.

Block Diagram

The block diagram illustrates the system configuration. The NTN-5K acts as the central component, connecting to solar panels (via an external MPPT charger), a battery bank, and the AC utility. It provides DC/AC inversion for loads and can also function as an AC/DC charger when AC utility is available. The system includes bidirectional DC/DC conversion and bidirectional inverters, managed by MCUs. Communication options include MODBUS or CANBUS.

Function Manual

1. Support MODBus / CANBus Communication

The inverter supports both MODBus (RS-485) and CANBus communication protocols, allowing for remote monitoring and control. Connection is typically made via a communication cable to a personal computer.

2. Remote ON/OFF Control

The unit can be remotely turned ON/OFF using a dry contact connection. Shorting the PAR1/PAR2 pins (Pin 1 to 3) results in AC output ON, while opening the pins results in AC output OFF.

3. AC Output Voltage, Frequency, Power Saving Mode Selectable by DIP SW

DIP switches (SW1 and SW2) on the unit allow for selection of AC output voltage (e.g., 100/110/115/120Vac or 200/220/230/240Vac), frequency (50Hz or 60Hz), and power saving mode (Saving mode or Non-Saving mode).

4. 3Ø 4-wire and 1Ø 3-wire AC Output Voltage Connection

The NTN-5K series supports both three-phase 4-wire and single-phase 3-wire output configurations. DIP switches are used to select the phase connections and output voltage.

5. Temperature Compensation (3 stage only)

For lead-acid batteries, a temperature compensation feature is available to prolong battery life. An external NTC sensor can be connected to the unit to adjust the charging voltage based on battery temperature. The compensation range is 0~40°C.

6. AC Output Parallel Function

The NTN-5K features built-in active current sharing, allowing up to 6 units to be connected in parallel for higher AC output power. Proper wiring and connections are crucial for parallel operation. The maximum output current in parallel operation is 95% of the rated current per unit multiplied by the number of units (for fewer than 6 units).
