MinION Mk1D Quick Start Guide

This guide provides essential information for setting up your MinION Mk1D device and ensuring it is ready for use.

Getting Started

The MinION Mk1D package includes:

  • MinION Mk1D device
  • Configuration Test Cell (CTC)
  • USB-C cable

Note: Only USB-C ports are supported. USB-A ports are not supported.

Setup Steps

  1. Install and log in to MinKNOW: Check your computer meets the IT requirements, install the latest MinKNOW software from community.nanoporetech.com/downloads, and log in using your Oxford Nanopore account details.
  2. Connect the MinION Mk1D: Connect the device to your computer using the provided USB-C cable.
  3. Insert your CTC: Lift the lid of the MinION, insert the Configuration Test Cell (CTC), ensure it is firmly pressed, and then close the lid.
  4. Perform a hardware check: A hardware check is crucial before your first sequencing run. Follow the instructions within MinKNOW to initiate and complete the hardware check. If the check fails, ensure the CTC is properly inserted and try again.
