Important Safety Instructions
General Warnings
Read all instructions before use. Misuse or failure to follow instructions may cause overheating, fire, or personal injury.
- Do not use with infants, children, incapacitated or immobile persons, paraplegics, quadriplegics, diabetics, those insensitive to heat (e.g., poor circulation), or anyone unable to understand or operate controls.
- When used on a bed, do not route cords between mattress and box spring; prevent cords from being pinched.
- Do not use with damaged cords, as they can lead to fire. Avoid tucking, trapping, folding, crossing, or pinching cords between furniture parts, walls, bed slats, mattress, springs, footboards, or bed frames.
- Do not dry clean. Cleaning solvents can damage wires. Improper laundering may cause fire hazards.
- Do not tuck, pinch, flex, or expose heating wire to rubbing. Damaged wires can cause overheating or fire. Do not tuck the product or cord into sofas, armchairs, or other furniture.
- Turn off or unplug the control when not in use.
- Loop cord loosely when storing; wrapping around the controller can damage it.
- Controller is not waterproof; do not immerse in water.
- Keep the control away from drafty areas (e.g., open windows) that could cause it to become damp or wet.
- Do not use pins, as they may damage electric wiring.
- Use only on an AC supply circuit of 110-120 volts. Do not use with an extension cord.
- Product may experience increased heat in bunched or folded areas during use.
- Keep pets away from the product; they can damage it or be injured by it.
- Do not use on waterbeds, bunk beds, mechanically adjustable beds, or children's cribs/beds.
- Do not use with rocking chairs, recliners, chairs with casters/wheels, or other furniture subject to movement. Do not wrap product around the control.
- Do not use another electronic heating device concurrently with this product.
- Failure to follow instructions may result in improper operation.
- Not for hotel, motel, or other institutional use.
- Do not use with generator power.
- If the product operates improperly, unplug immediately and contact Sunbeam Consumer Care (US: 800-435-1250, Canada: 800-667-8623).
Polarized Plug Warning
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other) to reduce the risk of electric shock. It is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug or defeat this safety feature.
Therapeutic Low Heat
Unlike traditional heating pads, the Renue™ Back & Body Warming Pad provides low-level therapeutic heat over an extended period. When used on a chair or bed, it emits consistent, soothing low heat for relief from aches and pains. The heat is best experienced by sitting or lying on the product.
Set-up & Usage Instructions
The Renue™ Back & Body Warming Pad is designed for continuous heat therapy on a chair or bed, offering relief from aches and pains while you work or relax. It can also be used proactively to reduce stress and tension.
For Use on a Chair:
- Place the pad on a chair with the softer fleece fabric facing out. The cord connector should be on the right side of the seat, and strap loops at the top corners of the chair's back. (See Figure 1)
- Secure the pad with the provided flexible Velcro straps. Adjust strap orientation for a secure and comfortable fit. (See Figures 2a-b)
- Optionally, roll up the seat portion of the pad and secure with the Velcro strip for lumbar support. (See Figure 3)
- Ensure the Control Connector is securely attached to the Pad Connector until it clicks. (See Figure 4) Note: Control must be connected before plugging into the outlet.
- Plug into a 120V AC electrical outlet. A snap is provided to keep the cord and controller tidy. (See Figure 5) Note: Avoid tucking cords between chair parts to prevent tangling or pinching.
- Press the Power Button to turn the pad on. Scroll through 4 heat settings ("warm" to "high") using the Power Button. (See Figure 6)
- To turn off, press the Power Button sequentially until no lights are lit.
For Use on a Bed:
- Place the pad on top of or underneath a fitted sheet.
- Position the pad on the bed to target the affected area. The softer fleece fabric should face up. (See Figure 7)
- Ensure the Control Connector is securely attached to the Pad Connector until it clicks. (See Figure 4) Note: Control must be connected before plugging into the outlet.
- Plug into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
- Run the control cord on the floor under the bed. Avoid sandwiching the cord between the mattress and box spring to prevent tangling or pinching. A snap is provided to keep the cord and controller tidy.
- Press the Power Button to turn the pad on. Scroll through 4 heat settings ("warm" to "high") using the Power Button. (See Figure 6)
- To turn off, press the Power Button sequentially until no lights are lit.
Auto-Off Feature
The controller includes an Auto-Off feature that automatically turns off the pad after 8 hours of continuous use to conserve energy. The timer resets automatically after a power outage.
Care and Cleaning
Before Washing or Storing:
- Disconnect the power cord from the wall BEFORE detaching the control cord from the pad.
- Ensure no cords are connected and no wires have worn through the fabric.
- Follow washing instructions carefully to prevent shrinking or fire hazards.
- DO NOT submerge the control in water.
- DO NOT dry clean.
- DO NOT use bleach or cleaning fluids.
- DO NOT use a wringer.
- DO NOT iron.
- DO NOT use mothballs or sprays.
- DO NOT reconnect or use until COMPLETELY dry.
- DO NOT wash or immerse power cords or product cords in water.
Machine Washing:
- Presoak for 15 minutes in mild soap and lukewarm water.
- Wash on a "delicate" or "gentle" cycle in mild soap and lukewarm water for two minutes. Do not use bleach.
- Rinse in fresh, lukewarm water.
- Spin dry in the washing machine. Gently stretch to original size.
Machine Drying:
Caution: Do not use commercial or laundromat dryers, as they get too hot and will damage wiring.
- Preheat dryer on "low" setting for 2 minutes.
- Place pad in dryer. Remove while still damp and gently stretch to original size.
- Drape over a clothesline or shower rod. DO NOT use clothespins.
- Pad must be COMPLETELY dry before reconnecting power or control plugs.
Hand Washing:
- Presoak for 15 minutes in mild soap and lukewarm water.
- Gently squeeze out soap suds.
- Rinse in fresh, lukewarm water.
Hand Drying:
- Gently stretch the pad to its original size.
- Drape over a clothesline or hang over a shower rod. DO NOT use clothespins.
- Pad must be COMPLETELY dry before reconnecting power or control plugs.
5-Year Limited Warranty
Sunbeam Products, Inc. (doing business as Jarden Consumer Solutions) warrants this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship for five years from the date of purchase. JCS will, at its option, repair or replace defective products or components with new or remanufactured items. Replacements may be made with similar products of equal or greater value if the original is unavailable. This is an exclusive warranty; do not attempt repairs yourself, as this voids the warranty.
The warranty is valid for the original retail purchaser and is non-transferable. Keep the original sales receipt as proof of purchase.
This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, or damage resulting from misuse, improper voltage/current, use contrary to instructions, disassembly, or unauthorized repairs. It also excludes Acts of God (fire, flood, hurricanes, tornadoes).
Limits on JCS's Liability:
JCS is not liable for incidental or consequential damages arising from breach of warranty. Implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose are limited to the duration of this warranty, to the extent permitted by law. JCS disclaims all other warranties. JCS is not liable for damages resulting from purchase, use, misuse, or inability to use the product, including lost profits. Some jurisdictions may not allow limitations on incidental/consequential damages or implied warranty duration, so these limitations may not apply to you. This warranty grants specific legal rights, and you may have other rights that vary by location.
