System Configuration Notes
Multi-zone Indoor/Outdoor Combination Table
MXZ Compatibility Chart - available on MESCA Tech Info Centre M-Series submittal page. Refer to indoor unit submittal.
Notes on System Operation
- Minimum of two Indoor Units must be connected to the MXZ-4C36NA.
- Minimum installed capacity cannot be less than 12,000 Btu/h.
- System can operate with only one Indoor Unit turned on.
- May connect to any style indoor unit or combination.
- Information provided at 208/230V.
Refer to the MXZ-C Technical & Service Manual for detailed specifications and additional information per Indoor Unit Combination.
SVZ Connection Rules
- Only 1 SVZ may be used on any system.
- When an SVZ is connected, total connected capacity must be less than 100%.
- When an SVZ is connected, no P-Series indoor units can be used (PCA, PLA, or PEAD).
Indoor - Outdoor Power Connection
Connection Order
Connect the terminal block in the following order: A→B→C→D→P. D unit is for 4C36NA only.
Wiring Diagram Description
The diagram illustrates the power supply connection for the indoor and outdoor units. It shows a 208/230 VAC, 1-phase, 2-wire, 60 Hz power supply connected via a disconnect switch to the outdoor unit's terminal block (labeled S1, S2, S3, and Ground). The indoor unit also connects to a terminal block. The description emphasizes using the correct terminal numbers, securing wires properly, using appropriate wire types (solid/stranded copper, minimum AWG14 for connecting wires, minimum AWG12 for power supply/ground), and following local electrical codes. A warning is provided about incomplete connections potentially causing fires. It also advises leaving extra wire length for future servicing.
Connection Details
- Remark: A disconnect switch should be required. Check the local code.
- Grounding: Use a ring tongue terminal to connect a ground wire to the terminal.
- Connecting Wires: Use solid conductor Min. AWG14 or stranded conductor Min. AWG14. Use double insulated copper wire with 600 V insulation. Use copper conductors only. Follow local electrical code.
- Power Supply Cable and Ground Wire: Use solid or stranded conductor Min. AWG12. Use copper conductors only. Follow local electrical code.
- Warning: Ensure indoor/outdoor unit connecting wires meet standards and are securely fixed to terminal blocks to prevent external force on the connection section, as this could result in a fire.
