Always follow these safety instructions to prevent injury and damage.
General Precautions:
- Always use grounded outlets.
- NEVER remove the ground.
- NEVER use an adapter or extension cord.
- NEVER plug the appliance into a timer or an outlet controlled by a switch.
- ALWAYS turn off and unplug the appliance when not in use, before assembling, disassembling, moving, cleaning, or storing.

Appliance Usage:
- The instructions cannot cover every possible condition; use common sense and caution.

- NEVER fill the container above the "MAXIMUM CAPACITY" line to avoid injury.
- Use caution when blending hot liquids; steam or splashes may cause burns.
- ALWAYS begin processing on the lowest speed setting (Variable Speed 1). Keep skin away from the lid opening to prevent burns.
- Use extreme caution when moving an appliance or container filled with hot liquids; spray or steam may cause burns.
- NEVER touch hot surfaces.
- NEVER remove ingredients during operation. Ensure the motor has completely stopped and the container is removed before removing ingredients.
- If food lodges around the blade, remove the container and use a spatula to dislodge it. NEVER use fingers.
- Keep hands, hair, clothing, and utensils away from moving parts.
- If the blend is not processing thick mixtures, stop and use a spatula to dislodge food. NEVER use fingers. Allow motor to cool for 1 minute before restarting.
- NEVER allow the blending blade to soak in water.
- NEVER use outdoors or on moving vehicles or boats.
- NEVER leave the working area when the appliance is in use.
- NEVER leave foreign objects (spoons, forks, knives, lid plug) in the container, as they can damage blades and cause injury.
- If the appliance sound changes or a hard object contacts the blades, NEVER serve the food.
- NEVER expose the container to temperatures or ingredients over 210°F (99°C).
- ALWAYS operate with the lid and lid plug firmly in place. NEVER remove the lid while blades are rotating. Only remove the lid plug to add ingredients or use the tamper.
- NEVER operate without the centering pad installed.
- Ensure the container is flush with the centering pad for proper drive engagement.
- NEVER place a blade assembly on the motor base unless assembled to the container.
- NEVER attempt to place a container on an operating motor base or operate without a container properly in place.
- When making nut butters or oil-based foods, do not process for more than one minute after circulation begins. Longer periods can cause overheating.
- Regularly inspect the appliance for damage. NEVER operate if damaged or malfunctioning. Contact Vitamix support immediately.
- Any repair, servicing, or replacement of parts must be performed by Vitamix or an authorized service representative.

Tamper Holder Installation
Follow these steps to install the tamper holder:
- Insert the tamper holder into the designated slot on the blender base.
- Push the holder firmly until it clicks into place, securing it.
- The tamper holder is now installed and ready for use.

The blender and containers communicate via wireless SELF-DETECT technology, programming each container for optimal performance based on its size and functionality.
ALWAYS leave the lid on during operation. Remove ONLY the lid plug to use the tamper or add ingredients.
NEVER use the tamper for more than 30 consecutive seconds to avoid overheating. The container should not be more than 2/3 full when using the tamper.
NEVER operate without ensuring the lid is securely locked. The appliance will run without a lid, but a lid MUST be attached to contain ingredients.
The lid plug is marked as a measuring cup.
Insert and lock the lid plug by rotating clockwise; remove by rotating counter-clockwise and lifting.
Lids and tampers are NOT interchangeable between different container styles, types, and sizes. Use only the supplied tamper and lid. Contact Vitamix support if you do not have the correct tamper.
ALWAYS load the container according to Vitamix recipe directions or the Load Order Illustration.
Motor Base:
- Designed to protect itself from overheating.
- If the appliance does not start immediately, check if it is plugged in and the On/Off Switch is ON.
- If the motor has overheated, allow it to cool for 20-45 minutes.
Controls and Display
- On/Off Switch ⏻: Controls power to the machine, located on the lower right side of the motor base.
- Display:
- Container Detect: Shows --- if a compatible container is not properly positioned; 0:00 when a container is detected; 0 if no program is available for the attached container.
- Sleep Mode: Dims the display after 30 seconds of inactivity. Rotate the Variable Speed Dial to exit.
- Error Code: Displays fault numbers. Document and contact Vitamix support for resolution.
- Timer: Counts up during variable speed use. Each container has a programmed maximum run time; the blender shuts down automatically when this time elapses.
- Motor Overheated: Flashes --- if the motor is overheated. Allow to cool for 20-45 minutes.
- Pulse ?: Rotates the blade at the selected speed on the Variable Speed Dial.
- Start/Stop Switch ▶️: Starts or stops blending at any time, located on the right side of the control panel.
- Variable Speed Dial:
- Variable Speed: Manual speed control from 1 (slowest) to 10 (highest).
- Standby |: Pauses the appliance, ready for the next recipe. Located at the top of the dial.
- Self-Cleaning ?: Runs a cleaning cycle with water and dishwashing liquid. See page 7 for procedures.
- Programs: Operates for preset times, stopping automatically. Pressing Start/Stop mid-program stops it and resets the timer. Program icons are shown in Vitamix recipes.
Blending
Tips to Prevent Overheating:
- Process only Vitamix recipes when learning.
- NEVER process recipes longer than recommended; over-processing can affect texture.
- NEVER process at speeds lower or higher than recommended.
- Use the tamper to process thick mixtures and keep ingredients moving around the blades.
Blending in the Container:
- Press the On/Off Switch ⏻ to the ON (I) position.
- Load the container according to Vitamix recipe directions or the Load Order Illustration.
- Place the lid onto the container, ensuring the tabs snap onto the lip. Insert and lock the lid plug clockwise.
- Place the container with lid onto the motor base. The display will show 0:00 when a container is detected.
- To Use Variable Speed:
- Turn the dial clockwise to Variable Speed 1.
- Press the Start/Stop Switch ▶️.
- Rotate the dial between Variable Speed 1 and 10 during blending to adjust speed.
- At the end of blending, rotate the dial counter-clockwise to Standby | or press the Start/Stop Switch ▶️ to stop.
- To Use Programs:
- Turn the Variable Speed Dial counter-clockwise to the desired program. The display will show the default program time.
- Press the Start/Stop Switch ▶️ to start the program. It will stop automatically, or you can press Start/Stop at any time to stop it.
- If the mixture stops circulating:
- Remove the lid plug, insert the tamper, and stir until the mixture 'burps'.
- If that doesn't work, press the On/Off Switch ⏻ to stop the motor.
- Remove the container, lid, and use a rubber spatula to press air bubbles away from the blades.
- Add liquid if necessary.
- Replace the lid and plug, return the container to the base, and continue blending.
- After blending, wait until the blades stop completely before removing the lid or container.
- Use a Vitamix Under Blade Scraper or spatula to remove ingredients from the container.
Care and Cleaning
Motor Base Cleaning:
- Turn off and unplug the appliance. Remove the container.
- Wipe the exterior with a damp, soft cloth or sponge rinsed in mild dish soap and warm water. Dry with a soft cloth.
- NEVER immerse the power cord, plug, or motor base in water or other liquids.
- The centering pad can be removed for thorough cleaning; it is dishwasher safe or can be hand-washed.
- Immediately dry all surfaces and polish with a soft cloth.
Tamper Cleaning:
The tamper is dishwasher safe or can be hand-washed in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
Container Cleaning:
- Dishwasher Safe: The container, lid, blade base, and seal are dishwasher safe.
- Self-Cleaning:
- Fill container half full with warm water and add a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid.
- Secure the 2-part lid.
- Rotate the knob counter-clockwise to the Self-Cleaning icon.
- On Ascent X2, the program time will display.
- Press the Start/Stop Switch ▶️.
- The program stops automatically when complete.
- Rinse and drain all pieces.
- Variable Speed Cleaning:
- Fill container half full with warm water and add a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid.
- Secure the 2-part lid.
- Press Start/Stop ▶️ and slowly increase speed to Variable Speed 10.
- Run for 30 to 60 seconds.
- Rotate the dial to Standby | or Variable Speed 1 and press Start/Stop ▶️ to turn off.
- Rinse and drain all pieces.
Container Sanitizing:
- Bleach:
- Perform "Container Cleaning" instructions first.
- Repeat "Container Cleaning" but add 1.5 tsp (7.4 ml) liquid bleach to 16 oz (473 ml) water.
- Let stand for an additional 1.5 minutes.
- Pour out bleach mixture. Allow container to air dry. DO NOT rinse after sanitizing. Rinse before next use if desired.
- Vinegar:
- Perform "Container Cleaning" instructions first.
- Repeat "Container Cleaning" but use 16 oz (473 ml) vinegar for every 16 oz (473 ml) water.
- Let stand for an additional 3 minutes (total contact time of 5 minutes).
- Pour vinegar solution over the inside surface of the 2-part lid.
- Repeat sanitizing procedure (steps 2-4) a second time.
- Allow container and lid to air dry. DO NOT rinse after sanitizing. Rinse before next use if desired.
Warranty and Service
10-Year Full Warranty
Vitamix warrants the owner that if the Blender fails within 10 years from the earlier of the date of purchase or delivery due to a defect in material or workmanship, or normal wear and tear from ordinary household use, Vitamix will repair or replace it free of charge within 30 days of receipt of the returned blender.
What is Covered:
- Defects in material or workmanship under normal household use.
- Repair or replacement at Vitamix's discretion.
What is Not Covered:
- Commercial or non-household applications.
- Cosmetic changes that do not affect performance (discoloration, effects of abrasives/cleaners, food buildup).
- Damage from grinding certain herbs/spices, sand, coarse gritty herbs, or volatile oils causing discoloration.
- Unauthorized warranty repairs.
Exclusive Remedies: Repair, replacement, or refund of the purchase price are the exclusive remedies.
Warranty Voidance: Abuse, misuse, negligent use, alteration, exposure to extreme conditions, failure to follow instructions, repairs by unauthorized personnel, or use with non-authorized bases/containers will void the warranty.

Call Vitamix Customer Service at 1.800.848.2649 or 1.440.235.4840. You will be provided with a return authorization number, shipping instructions, and a prepaid return label. Vitamix covers standard shipping costs for warranty service and return shipment.
For blenders not registered, proof of purchase is required.
