Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps to assemble your Carrera Evolution track.
- Step 1-3: Connecting Track Pieces
Insert connecting clips into the track as shown in Figure 1. Assemble track pieces on a flat surface. Move connecting clips in the direction of the arrow (Figure 2) until they audibly snap into place. Clips can be inserted later and removed by pressing down the retaining nose (Figure 3). - Step 4: Fastening Track Sections
To secure track sections to a board, use track section fasteners (Item no. 85209, not included).
Note: Carpeting is not a suitable foundation for track assembly due to static charging, fluff formation, and flammability.
Guard Rails and Supports
Instructions for attaching guard rails and using supports for elevated sections and steep curves.
- Guard Rails: Mount guard rail holders by tilting them upwards onto the track edge.
- Supporting Raised Sections: Insert the ball pivot shank into the square slots on the underside of the track. Supports can be extended using additional pieces. Pedestals can be screwed to a base (screws not included).
- Supporting Steep Curves: Use slanting supports of appropriate height. Fix non-adjustable supports at the beginning and end of curves. Insert support heads into the round slots on the underside of the track.
Electrical Connection
The connecting rail features sockets for the transformer and hand-held control unit.
- Plug the transformer into the central socket.
- Plug the hand-held control units into the external sockets.
Ensure the '+' and '-' symbols on the plugs match those on the connecting rail.
Advice: Do not connect the toy to extraneous electrical equipment, plugs, or cables to avoid short-circuits and power surges. The Carrera Evolution track functions correctly only with an original Carrera Evolution transformer.
Safety Instructions
- This toy is not suitable for children under 3 years due to small swallowable parts and potential pinching hazards.
- The transformer is not a toy; do not short-circuit its connections. Parents should regularly inspect the transformer for damage. Operate only with recommended transformers. Do not use a damaged transformer.
- Only operate the racetrack with one transformer. Disconnect the transformer from the power supply during extended play breaks. Do not open transformer or speed controller housings.
- Regularly check track and cars for damage to cables, plugs, and housings. Replace defective parts.
- The car racetrack is not suitable for outdoor or wet locations. Keep away from liquids.
- Do not place metal parts on the track to avoid short-circuits. Position the track away from delicate objects, as cars can be thrown from the track and cause damage.
- Pull the plug before cleaning. Use a damp cloth only; no solvents or chemicals. Store the track dry and dust-protected, preferably in its original box when not in use.
- Do not operate the racing track at face or eye level.
Start Preparation
Ensure the car's guide keel is in the track slot and the double sliding contact touches the power supply rail.
Place cars onto the connecting track.
Optimal Sliding Contact Adjustment
Bend the grinding end towards the rail so only the end makes contact. It can be trimmed if worn. Bend the ends against the direction of travel.
Small car parts like spoilers or mirrors, replicated for authenticity, may detach or break during play. To prevent this, they can be removed before use.
Vehicle Setup
The Carrera Evolution car is optimized for the 1:24 scale Carrera track system.
- Apart from the guide keel, the magnet unit at the rear or the spacing plate under the magnet can be removed or added.
- When using Carrera overpasses or banked curves, it may be advisable to remove or not use the spacing plate depending on the car type.
- Slight driving noises from these track elements are due to scale authenticity and do not affect faultless operation.
- Change the vehicle's direction of travel using the switch on the underside.
- Alter the road holding properties by shifting the magnet on the underside of the vehicle. (Car setup may need modification for other track systems).

Replacement of Double Sliding Contact and Guide Keel
Instructions for replacing sliding contacts and guide keels.
- It is recommended to replace only one grinder at a time.
- Never pull the vehicle backward, as this can damage the grinders. Ensure cable connections between the motor and grinders cross over.
- Carefully pull the guide shoe upwards from its mounting and turn it so the fastening spigot faces upwards.
- Pull out worn grinders in the direction of the arrow.
- Plug the power cable into the designated opening and secure it. Push the front end of the new double sliding contact through the opening from below, then insert the rear end into the mounting.
- Bend the grinders approximately 170° and return the guide shoe to its original position.
Maintenance and Care
Regular cleaning ensures proper operation of the racetrack.
- Racetrack: Keep the track surface and slots clean with a dry cloth. Do not use solvents or chemicals. Store in a clean, dust-protected location, preferably in the original box, when not in use.
- Car Check: Clean axle and wheel bearings, pinion gears, gearwheels, and bearings. Lubricate with resin- and acid-free grease. Use a toothpick or similar aid. Regularly check the condition of sliding contacts and tyres.
Troubleshooting and Driving Tips
Troubleshooting
Check the following if malfunctions occur:
- Are power connections correct?
- Are transformer and hand controllers connected correctly?
- Are track connections faultless?
- Are the racetrack and track slots clean and free of foreign objects?
- Are the sliding contacts in order and making contact with the power supply rail?
Driving Technique
- Drive fast on straights, brake before curves, and accelerate again upon exiting curves.
- Do not hold or block vehicles while the motor is running, as this can cause overheating and motor damage.
