- The power source should be more than 4 meters away from the pool.
- The appliance must be supplied by an earthed power source.
- RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK: The pump must not be used while people are inside the pool. Forbid access to the pool if the sand filter is damaged.
- DO NOT BURY CORD. Position the cord to minimize abuse from lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, and other equipment.
- Replace damaged cords immediately to reduce the risk of electric shock.
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid a hazard.
- Extension cords cannot be used.
- Using the sand filter with an unmatched electrical supply is dangerous and will permanently damage the sand filter.
- Do not remove the grounding prong or modify the plug. Do not use adaptor plugs. Consult a qualified electrician for any questions regarding your plugs or grounding.
- Handle the sand filter with care. Do not pull or carry the sand filter by the power cord. Never pull a plug from the outlet by yanking the power cord. Keep the cord free from abrasions. Sharp objects, oil, moving parts, and heat should never be exposed to the sand filter.
- Always unplug this product from the electrical outlet before removing, cleaning, servicing, or making any adjustments.
- Do not plug or unplug the appliance with wet hands.
- Always unplug the appliance on rainy days.
- Leave it unattended on holidays.
- When the appliance will not be used for a long time (e.g., in winter), the pool set should be disassembled and stored indoors.

- Cleaning and user maintenance must be performed by an adult above 18 years old who is familiar with the risks of electric shock.
Setup Instructions
Choosing the Correct Location:
- The sand filter should be placed on solid, level ground, preferably a concrete slab. Position the sand filter so the ports and control valve are accessible for operation, servicing, and winterizing.
- The sand filter must be situated in the upright position, either on the ground or on a pedestal made of wood or concrete, preventing the sand filter from accidentally falling over. The fully assembled sand filter will exceed 18 kg (39.7 lbs). If using a wood pedestal, mount the filter to the platform. The mounting holes should be 8 mm in diameter and spaced 285 mm apart. Use two bolts and nuts with a maximum of 8 mm in diameter (not included) to fasten the sand filter to the pedestal.
Helpful Tip: Do not place chlorine in the strainer to avoid damaging the sand filter.
IMPORTANT: If you do not use the recommended size of filtration sand, filtering performance will be reduced, and the sand filter may be damaged, thereby voiding the warranty.
IMPORTANT: Some small debris can pass through the sand and back into the pool. This is normal, especially if the debris is fine or silt. To limit this, follow the Maintenance Instructions, Backwash and Rinse when necessary.
If the pool has a large amount of debris when vacuuming, perform the Backwash function (see Usage section) after cleaning half of the pool.
Installation Instructions:
For installation instructions, follow the illustrations in the back of the manual. Drawings are for illustration purposes only and may not reflect the actual product. Not to scale.
Bestway is not responsible for damage caused to the product due to mishandling or failure to follow these instructions.
Usage Instructions
Control Valve:
Press down on the control valve handle and rotate to the desired function. To prevent equipment damage, always turn the sand filter off before changing the control valve function. Do not set the control valve between two functions, as this will lead to water flowing out from the D port. Do not turn the sand filter on when the control valve is set to the closed function, as this will increase the inner pressure and seriously damage the sand filter.
Helpful Tip: Before switching on the sand filter, perform the Air Discharging Operation as shown (see Installation section). Make sure both the pool's inlet and outlet are open and fully covered by water.
Functions:
- Backwash: Cleans the sand. Water is pumped down through the Collector Hub, up through the sand, and drained out of the D port. This function should be used during initial startup, to clean the pump, and to level the sand after running the Backwash function.
- Rinse: This function is used to rinse the sand after backwashing. Water is pumped down through the sand, up through the Collector Hub, and drained out of the D port.
- Filter: This function is used to filter the pool water and will be in use 99% of the time. Water is pumped through the sand filter, where it is cleaned and returned to the pool.
- Circulate: This function circulates pool water by passing it through the sand filter pump but not through the sand. Use this function if the filter is broken to collect debris in the debris screen.
- Drain: This function drains water from the pool. Water is pumped out of the pool and drained out of the D port, instead of returning to the pool.
- Closed: This function stops water from flowing between the sand filter pump and the pool.
To prevent water from leaking, insert the Port D Cap (M) to the D port and secure the connection with a Hose Clamp (N) before running the sand filter. When the control valve is set to the Backwash, Rinse, or Drain functions, open the Hose Clamp (N) and remove the Port D Cap (M) so the water can drain from the D port.
First Time Use Instructions:
The Backwash and Rinse functions must be performed to wash the sand and prepare the pump for its first use.
IMPORTANT: This procedure removes water from the pool, which you will need to replace. Turn the sand filter off immediately if the water reaches the same level as the pool inlet or outlet valves.
- Run the Backwash function for 3-5 minutes, then the Rinse function for 1 minute.
- Now the sand filter is ready for use. Set the control valve to the Filter function.
IMPORTANT: Before operation, make sure the tank is steady and stable on its base and connected correctly to the pump.
Maintenance Instructions
For cleaning and maintenance, refer to the illustration steps in the back of the manual. Drawings are for illustration purposes only and may not reflect the actual product. Not to scale.
NOTE: The strainer must be emptied and cleaned periodically. A dirty or blocked strainer will reduce the performance of the sand filter.
CAUTION: Ensure the sand filter is turned off and unplugged before beginning any maintenance actions to avoid a severe risk of injury or death.
As dirt builds up in the sand filter, the pressure reading on the pressure gauge will increase. When the pressure gauge is 0.25 Bar (3.5 PSI) or higher, it is time to clean the sand. To clean the sand, follow the instructions outlined previously in: Backwash and Rinse.
NOTE: The pressure gauge is for maintenance purposes only and its value is for reference. It should not be used as a precision instrument.
NOTE: Cleaning the sand once a month or less, depending on pool usage, is recommended. Do not clean the sand too frequently. Contact your pool dealer for chemical products specifically made to clean the sand. Correct maintenance of the sand will optimize cleaning efficiency and prevent the accumulation of oils or scale.
Disassembly & Storage Instructions
Draining:
For draining, follow the illustrations in the back of the manual. Drawings are for illustration purposes only and may not reflect the actual product. Not to scale.
Before draining your pool water, ensure you are draining the water away from the house and any objects that are subject to water damage. Check local regulations for drainage bylaws.
- Turn off the switch on the Sand Filter Tank (G).
- Disconnect the sand filter from the power supply.
- Remove the Port D Cap (M). Attach a hose (not included) to the D port. Use the Hose Clamps (N) to secure the D port. Press down the control valve and rotate to the Drain function.
NOTE: The hose (not included) should have a diameter of 32 mm.
Helpful Tip: If you do not wish to completely drain your pool, complete the steps above until the water is at the desired level. Ensure the water still completely covers the ports, then rotate the control valve to the desired function, such as Backwash. Connect the sand filter to the power supply and turn on the switch on the Sand Filter Tank (G).
Storage:
Remove all accessories. Ensure the sand filter, hoses, and debris screens are completely clean and dry before storage. If parts are not completely dry, mold may result. Before storage, remove and dry the sand, then store in a dry place.
It is strongly recommended to disassemble the sand filter when the ambient temperature is below 10°C / 50°F.
Store the sand filter in a dry place with a moderate temperature between 10°C / 50°F and 38°C / 100°F.
