Keep the electronic key away from these items when attempting keyless entry or keyless start.

Note: The electronic key simply needs to be with the driver, in a bag or a non-metallic wallet. It does not need to be removed or held in hand.

To enter the vehicle, pull the door handle. When keyless entry is activated, the alarm deactivates, and the doors unlock according to the current unlock/entry setting (single/multiple point entry). Double flashing of the hazard lights confirms the unlock command. Power-folding mirrors will assume their working position (if enabled).

Note: If the security system is set to single point entry, and a passenger door is opened first, all doors will unlock.

REMOTE TRANSMITTERS FOR ELECTRONIC KEYS

People with implanted medical devices are advised to remain at least 22 cm (8.7 inches) away from any vehicle transmitters. This prevents the system's radiation from affecting such devices. See page 359, LOCATION OF ELECTRONIC KEY TRANSMITTERS.

Steering column lock

Important: When towing the vehicle, the electronic key must remain in the cabin to keep the steering column unlocked. See page 343, VEHICLE RECOVERY PROCEDURE.

The vehicle is equipped with an electronic steering column lock that locks and unlocks in accordance with the vehicle's locking system. Locking may also occur automatically after a delay if the ignition is switched off and the electronic key is removed from the vehicle. If the steering column lock fails, the message Steering Column Locked will appear on the information display. In this case:

  1. Lock and then unlock the vehicle with the electronic key.
  2. Try to unlock the steering column again by turning the steering wheel slightly left and right.
  3. If the problem persists, contact a qualified technician immediately.

Opening and closing the tailgate

Important: When the tailgate is open, the lock is visible. Do not close the lock manually, as the power-assisted closing may activate, potentially trapping objects or body parts.

Before opening the tailgate, ensure there is at least 1 m (3 feet) of clear space above and behind the vehicle. Insufficient clearance may result in damage to the vehicle.

Important: Do not use the tailgate if a bicycle rack is fitted. Remove bicycles and/or racks before opening the tailgate.

1. Opening the tailgate: Lift the tailgate to open it.

Note: The tailgate release switch will operate if all doors are unlocked and the automatic transmission selector is in Park (P). If the selector is in Neutral (N), the switch will only operate if all doors are unlocked and the ignition is in the ready or off position. The switch will not operate in any other gear position.

The tailgate can also be opened using:

Note: The tailgate will not open if the vehicle is travelling at speeds of approximately 5 km/h or more.

Note: If the electronic key is accidentally left in the tailgate, and the vehicle is locked and the alarm is active, an audible warning will sound indicating a locking error, and the tailgate will reopen after approximately three seconds. The electronic key may not be detected if it is inside any metallic object or shielded by any device with a backlit liquid crystal display, such as a smartphone, laptop (including in a laptop bag), or games console.

Note: When leaving the vehicle unattended, ensure the tailgate is fully closed. Visual and audible warnings indicate that the vehicle is locked and the alarm is active. If there are no visual or audible warnings when closing the tailgate, the vehicle may not be secured.

Opening and closing the tailgate with power

1. Press to open the powered tailgate.

2. Press to close the powered tailgate.

Once the tailgate has opened to the preset height, it can be raised or lowered manually. If the tailgate does not open or close correctly, close it manually and press the tailgate opening button again.

When closing, the tailgate will softly close at its lowest point. If the vehicle was locked and the alarm was active, the hazard lights will flash to confirm the vehicle is locked and the alarm system is reactivated. A confirmation sound may also be heard.

Note: If the tailgate button is pressed while the tailgate is opening or closing, its movement will stop. However, if the button is pressed during the closing sequence, the opening request will be ignored.

Before using the tailgate, ensure that passengers are clear of the opening and are not at risk of trapping body parts. Note that the power-assisted closing function does not detect foreign objects. Even with a foreign object detection system, serious injury, including fatal injury, may occur.

Tailgate opening height

The maximum opening height of the tailgate can be set. This function is useful in car parks with low ceilings or for easier access to the luggage compartment.

  1. Open the tailgate to the desired maximum height. Press any tailgate control button to stop its movement and fix it in the desired position. The final position can be adjusted manually if necessary.
  2. Ensure the tailgate remains stationary for at least 3 seconds.
  3. Press and hold the tailgate closing switch for 10 seconds to set the maximum opening height.
  4. Close the tailgate, then open it again to ensure it opens to the set height.

Note: If the tailgate closes automatically after completing step 3 of the setting procedure, the desired height has not been set. Repeat the procedure, following all steps carefully.

To reset the maximum opening height, repeat the procedure, but when the tailgate reaches the programmed height, manually move it to the fully open position and then press and hold the switch button.

If several foreign objects are detected or the battery voltage drops, the memory function for the powered tailgate may fail. The power operation may be blocked.

Resetting the tailgate:

  1. Close the tailgate manually.
  2. Press the unlock switch.
  3. Wait for the tailgate to open fully or reach the previously set height.
  4. Press and release the closing switch.
  5. Wait for the tailgate to close completely. The programmed tailgate position will be restored.

LOCKING DOORS WHILE DRIVING

The auto-locking function engages when the vehicle moves off, automatically locking all doors when a certain speed is reached. This function can be activated/deactivated using the Drive-away locking option in the Vehicle set-up menu. See page 55, INSTRUMENT PANEL MENU.

REPLACING THE ELECTRONIC KEY BATTERY

If the battery needs replacing, the effective range of the electronic key will be significantly reduced, and the message SMART KEY BATTERY LOW will appear on the information display.

To replace the battery:

  1. Remove the cover by sliding it in the direction indicated by the arrows.
  2. Use the spare mechanical key to separate the electronic key housing.
  3. Install a new CR2032 battery (available from your dealer/authorized workshop) with the positive (+) terminal facing upwards.

Note: If the low battery warning does not disappear, it means the installed battery is not new and has been used before. Reassemble the components in reverse order, ensuring they click into place.

Battery disposal: Batteries contain hazardous substances and must be disposed of properly. Consult your dealer/authorized workshop or local authorities for disposal information.

ELECTRONIC KEY CARE

Important: To prevent accidental engine start, which could cause injury, do not leave the electronic key in the vehicle if children or animals are present. Do not expose the electronic key to liquids, heat, humidity, or dust. Do not expose the remote control to direct sunlight.

The spare mechanical key number is recorded on the label attached to it. Peel off the label and affix it to the designated area in the service book that comes with the vehicle. Keep it in a safe place, but not in the vehicle.

The range of the electronic key may vary significantly depending on weather conditions and interference from other transmitting devices.

Note: The radio frequency (RF) on which the electronic key operates may be used by other devices (e.g., medical equipment). This may cause the electronic key to malfunction.

Exiting the vehicle

Locking the vehicle and activating the alarm

WARNING: Do not attempt to upgrade or modify the anti-theft system. Such modifications may cause the system to fail. There are two levels of alarm system:

Important: Vehicle locking will not occur if a door, the tailgate, or the bonnet is open, or if the ignition is on. The lights will not flash, and attempting to lock with the electronic key will trigger a sound warning indicating a faulty lock. The hazard lights will not flash, and the exterior mirrors (if enabled) will not fold. Ensure all doors, the bonnet, and the tailgate are properly closed. Ensure the ignition is off, then try locking the vehicle again. If the locking problem persists, consult your dealer/authorized workshop.

Note: If the vehicle is not locked and the alarm is not active, pressing the lock button will perform a single lock. Press again if double locking is required.

AUTOMATIC RELOCKING AND ALARM ACTIVATION

If no door, tailgate, or bonnet is opened within 40 seconds of unlocking the vehicle with the electronic key, all doors will automatically relock, and the alarm will reactivate.

LOCKING ERROR

Locking errors may occur when locking the vehicle using the electronic key in the following situations:

In any of the above cases, the vehicle will NOT lock, and a sound warning will indicate a locking error.

FULL CLOSING

Before attempting a full close, ensure that children, animals, or any objects are not obstructing the doors, bonnet, or tailgate.

Ensure all doors are closed. Press and hold the lock button on the electronic key for three seconds. A single lock will be performed, and the alarm will activate immediately. After 3 seconds, all open windows will close.

The keyless full closing function (if enabled) can be activated by touching and holding the lock sensor on the door handle for three seconds. This will perform a single lock, and the alarm will activate.

Note: Windows will close only while the door lock sensor is held. To fully secure the vehicle, continue to touch the door lock sensor until all windows are closed.

Note: Enabling and disabling the full closing function is done via the Vehicle Set-up menu on the instrument panel. See page 55, INSTRUMENT PANEL MENU.

KEYLESS LOCKING

Important: Do not use double locking if people or animals are in the vehicle. In an emergency, they will not be able to exit the vehicle, and emergency services will not be able to free them quickly.

Important: The electronic key will not be detected if it is inside any metallic object or shielded by any device with a backlit liquid crystal display, such as a smartphone, laptop (including in a laptop bag), or games console.

For single locking, touch the lock sensor (1) on the door handle (without touching the handle itself). The hazard lights will flash once to confirm locking.

Note: When touching the sensor, do not grip the handle, as this will prevent the vehicle from locking.

For double locking, touch the lock sensor (1) on the door handle twice within three seconds (without touching the handle itself).

Note: When touching the sensor, do not grip the handle, as this will prevent the vehicle from locking.

Note: If the vehicle is locked using the keyless entry system, and one or more doors, the bonnet, or the tailgate are not fully closed, or if the ignition is on, the vehicle will NOT lock. No audible warning will be given.

INTERIOR PROTECTION

The interior protection function, which is part of the alarm system, can be temporarily disabled via the Alarm sensors menu in the Vehicle set-up menu. See page 55, INSTRUMENT PANEL MENU.

Note: If the interior protection function is temporarily disabled, it will be automatically enabled the next time the vehicle is double locked using the electronic key.

SELF-POWERED SIREN

In vehicles intended for certain countries, an additional self-powered siren is installed. If the security system is activated, this device will emit a sound signal if the battery or the siren itself is disconnected.

TILT SENSOR

The inclinometer registers any changes in the vehicle's tilt relative to the ground. If the alarm is activated and the vehicle is locked in double lock mode, the alarm will trigger if the vehicle's tilt changes.

Note: The inclinometers may be temporarily disabled until the next vehicle lock. See page 55, INSTRUMENT PANEL MENU. This function is automatically activated the next time the vehicle is double locked using the electronic key.

Door Handles for Locking and Unlocking

Note: If the vehicle is locked in double lock mode, the interior door handles will not function. The vehicle must be unlocked using the electronic key.

  1. Press the lock switch to lock the door. Pull the handle backwards to unlock the door. Pressing the lock switch on either of the front doors will lock or unlock all doors.
  2. To open a front door, pull the unlock handle. To unlock and open a rear door, first pull the lock handle, then the unlock handle.
  3. To unlock all doors and the tailgate, press the main unlock button.
  4. When all doors are closed, press the main lock button to lock all doors and the tailgate.

Seat Belts

USING SEAT BELTS

  1. Fastening the seat belt: Pull the belt smoothly, ensure the belt height is correct for you and the seat, and check your seating position.

WARNING: The seat belt is designed to transfer load to the human skeleton, so the lower part of the belt must be positioned across the pelvic bone, and the upper part across the chest and shoulder. Do not allow the belt webbing to lie across the abdomen.

WARNING: Users are prohibited from making modifications or upgrades that may prevent the seat belt adjustment devices from selecting the seat belt slack or from adjusting them. Seat belts provide protection when they fit snugly against the body without causing discomfort. The effectiveness of the belt is significantly reduced when the webbing is not snug against the body. Do not wear the belt with twisted webbing.

Each seat belt is intended for one person only: do not buckle a child in with an adult. Passengers and the driver must not recline their seatbacks more than 30 degrees from the vertical. Failure to do so will reduce the protection provided by the seat belts. There should be no hard, brittle, or sharp objects between you and the seat belt. This is dangerous in itself and reduces the effectiveness of the seat belt.

2. Fastening the seat belt: After putting on the seat belt correctly, insert the tongue into the buckle. Insert the locking clip into the buckle until it clicks. To release the seat belt, press the red button.

Note: If you need to release the belt, it is recommended to hold the belt while pressing the button. This prevents the belt from retracting too quickly.

3. Using seat belts during pregnancy: The lap belt should be positioned comfortably across the hips, below the abdomen. The diagonal strap should pass between the breasts and to the side of the abdomen. Pregnant women should pay attention to the correct positioning of the seat belt to avoid harming themselves or the unborn child. It is extremely dangerous to wear only the lap belt or only the diagonal strap, or to sit on the lap belt, as this significantly increases the risk of severe injury in the event of a collision or emergency braking. Do not place any objects under the belt to cushion the impact in the event of a collision. This is dangerous in itself and reduces the effectiveness of the seat belts. Ensure the belt is not slack or twisted.

4. Adjusting the seat belt anchor height: Press to release the catch. With the catch pressed, move the mechanism up or down to the desired height. Ensure the locking mechanism is engaged.

PRE-TENSIONERS FOR SEAT BELTS

Seat belt pre-tensioners, along with the passive safety system (SRS), provide additional protection in a frontal impact. They automatically select seat belt slack to reduce forward movement of the driver/front passenger.

Pre-tensioners operate only once and must then be replaced. Failure to do so will reduce the effectiveness of the SRS system in reducing the risk of serious injury or death in an accident.

After any collision, consult your dealer/authorized workshop for inspection and, if necessary, replacement of seat belts and pre-tensioners.

RULES FOR USING SEAT BELTS

Important: Pay attention to ensure that the belt webbing does not become contaminated with vehicle cleaning agents or interior care products, or come into contact with oils, chemicals, and especially electrolyte. Clean the belts using neutral soap and water. The belt must be replaced if it is worn, contaminated, or damaged. The belt must be replaced after it has been subjected to significant loads in a severe collision, even if there is no visible damage. In case of damage, wear, cuts, defects, or slackening of the seat belts, the vehicle should be taken to your dealer/authorized workshop for immediate inspection. Do not use the vehicle if the seat belts are not functioning correctly.

Important: There should be no hard, brittle, or sharp objects between your body and the fastened seat belt. All passengers and the driver must wear seat belts, regardless of the duration of the journey. It is extremely dangerous to wear only the lap belt or only the diagonal belt, or to sit on the lap belt, as this significantly increases the risk of severe injury in the event of a collision. If using seat belts to secure items, ensure that the belts are not damaged and do not pass over sharp edges.

SEAT BELT CHECKS

Note: If the vehicle is parked on a slope, the seat belt mechanism may lock. This is a safety feature. Carefully release the belt at the upper anchor point. Regular checks of the seat belts for abrasion, cuts, or wear of the webbing, as well as the condition and security of the mechanism, buckles, adjusters, and anchor points, should be carried out.

If any of the belts do not meet the above requirements, contact your dealer/authorized workshop immediately.

UNFASTENED SEAT BELT AUDIBLE WARNING

The unfastened seat belt warning indicator will activate if the vehicle is moving and the driver is not wearing a seat belt. Depending on the country, a tonal sound may be emitted, and a warning indicator may appear on the instrument panel. See page 61, SEAT BELT WARNING (RED). Visual and audible warnings associated with the unfastened seat belt warning indicator vary by market and are subject to their requirements. The warnings may also vary depending on whether the vehicle is stationary or moving above a certain speed threshold. In some markets, the unfastened seat belt indicator also applies to the front passenger seat belt.

The information display also shows indicators for unfastened front and rear seat belts, warning the driver when a passenger's seat belt is not fastened or has been unfastened while driving.

Note: Indicators will be displayed for 30 seconds each time the status changes, for example, when a seat belt is unfastened or fastened, or when a door is opened or closed.

Note: When carrying heavy luggage on the front passenger seat, an audible signal and the unfastened seat belt warning indicator may activate. It is recommended to secure all items on the front passenger seat with the seat belt.
