Initial Use and Backwashing

Before any operation, ensure all hoses are connected and tightened, and the sand is present in the required quantity.

The system must always be connected to a grounded outlet protected by an RCD.

  1. Turn both handles counter-clockwise until they lock. This opens the valves to allow water into the sand filter.
  2. Purge Air: Ensure the drain/waste outlet plug on the 6-way valve is removed. Orient this outlet towards an appropriate drainage area. Turn the 6-way valve to "N" position and unscrew the air purge (35) above the motor (see diagram 29). When water starts to exit the air purge, close it.
  3. BACKWASH: Ensure the drain/waste outlet plug on the 6-way valve is removed. Orient this outlet towards an appropriate drainage area. Press the 6-way valve and turn it to the "BACKWASH" position (see diagrams 24 & 30). IMPORTANT: To avoid damaging the 6-way valve, always depressurize it before turning. Always turn off the pump before changing valve positions.
  4. Press the button to turn on the system, then press the button to set the operating hours using the timer (refer to the "Using the system in timer or manual mode" section for details). Water flows from bottom to top through the tank and exits the waste/drain port to directly expel impurities. Backwash until clear water flows from the waste/drain outlet.
  5. NOTE: When "00" flashes on the LED screen, the unit is in standby mode and the pump will not run. An initial "BACKWASH" is strongly recommended after adding or replacing sand to remove dust, impurities, or small particles.
  6. Turn off the pump, turn the valve to the "RINSE" position (see diagram 25).
  7. Turn on the pump for about one minute to resettle the sand after a "BACKWASH".
  8. Turn off the pump, turn the valve to the "FILTRATION" position (see diagram 23).
  9. Turn on the pump. The system operates in normal filtration mode. Let the pump run as needed to restore clear water, but no more than 12 hours per day. For initial startup, it is recommended to set the system for a longer timer duration or "FP" for continuous operation.
  10. Note the service pressure reading on the manometer when the filter media is clean.
  11. NOTE: During initial system startup, regular "BACKWASH" cycles may be necessary. As the filter traps dirt and impurities, pressure will rise and flow will decrease. If no vacuum is connected and the manometer is in the yellow zone, it's time to "BACKWASH". Refer to the "BACKWASH" section. When a vacuum is connected, water flow tends to decrease and pressure to increase. Disconnect the vacuum and check if the manometer returns to the green zone.
  12. Monitor the manometer and check weekly that the inlet and outlet ports are not obstructed. If the manometer is in the yellow zone, it is time to "BACKWASH".

Maintenance and Chemical Products

Pool water must be maintained regularly. Your filter and proper chemical control will help maintain a good hygiene level. Consult your retailer to choose your chlorine, anti-algae, and other products.

  • Keep chemical products out of reach of children.
  • Never pour chemicals into the pool while it is occupied. These products can cause skin or eye irritation.
  • Daily monitoring of pH and water treatment is necessary, as is the addition of chlorine, anti-algae products, and pH monitoring, both when filling the pool and regularly during the usage period.
  • When first filling the pool, the water may be dirty and require more products and filtration time. Never swim in water with an incorrect pH. Consult your retailer.
  • Your children will likely splash and spray water on the ground. Be aware that chlorine can damage your lawn. Consider this when installing your pool. Some grasses may grow under the liner and damage it.
  • The operating time of your filter depends on your pool size, weather, and usage time. Vary the operating time to find the correct setting.
  • European standard EN16713-3 provides additional information on pool water quality and treatment, which can be found at: www.intexcorp.com/support.

⚠️ ATTENTION: A high concentration of chlorine can damage your pool liner. Always follow the recommendations of chemical product manufacturers, health hazards, and danger warnings.

Long-Term Storage & Winterizing

⚠️ ATTENTION: Allowing water to freeze will cause significant damage to the sand filter and void the warranty.

  1. Before draining your pool for winterizing or moving it, ensure the water is directed to a safe location, away from homes. Familiarize yourself with local regulations regarding pool water disposal.
  2. Turn off the appliance and unplug the power cord.
  3. When the pool is empty, disconnect all hoses and remove the shut-off valves and strainers from the liner.
  4. Unscrew the sand filter drain plug (9) to empty the tank. This plug is located at the bottom of the tank.
  5. Separate the pump from the tank base.
  6. Allow the sand filter parts and hoses to dry as much as possible.
  7. Apply a layer of grease to the following gaskets for winterizing:
    • L-gasket (11).
    • O-rings (22).
    • Gaskets for the clamp rings (23).
    • Flat gasket (25).
  8. Press the 6-way valve handle and rotate it so the pointer indicates the "N" position. This allows water to drain from all valve chambers. Leave the 6-way valve in this inactive position.
  9. It is recommended to store the dried parts in their original packaging for optimal storage. To prevent condensation or corrosion, do not wrap or cover the motor with plastic bags.
  10. Store the pump and accessories in a dry place. Storage must be frost-free.
  11. Cover the tank with a tarp or plastic to protect it from the elements.

Water sports are fun and relaxing, but they also involve risks of injury and death. To reduce these risks, read and follow all instructions on products, packaging, and manuals. Be aware that instructions and warnings cover the most common risks, but others may exist.

For your safety, familiarize yourself with the following warnings and those specific to each national organization:

  • Constant supervision is required. A competent adult should be designated as a "lifeguard" or supervisor, especially when children are in or around the pool.
  • Learn to swim.
  • Take time to learn basic first aid.
  • Inform anyone responsible for supervising swimmers about the existence of safety systems such as barriers, locked gates, etc.
  • Inform all pool users, including children, about emergency procedures.
  • Use common sense and reason during water activities.
  • Supervise, supervise, supervise.

Limited Warranty

Your sand filter has been manufactured using high-quality materials and technology. All Intex products have been inspected and are free from manufacturing defects. The warranty applies only to the sand filter and listed accessories.

This limited warranty is in addition to, and not in replacement of, the legal warranty. Where this warranty contradicts local rights, local rights take precedence. For example, European laws provide statutory rights in addition to those offered by the limited warranty. For more information, consult the European website: http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/ecc/contact_en/htm.

The terms of this limited warranty apply only to the original purchaser. This limited warranty is non-transferable. The warranty period is valid for the duration indicated below, starting from the date of original purchase. Keep your original sales receipt with this manual, as proof of purchase will be required and must accompany claims; otherwise, the limited warranty will not be valid.

Sand Filter Warranty: 2 years

Hoses, Shut-off Valves, and Fittings: 180 days

If a manufacturing defect appears within the period below, please contact the appropriate Intex Consumer Service listed in the "Authorized Service Centers" document. If you return the defective item as instructed by the After-Sales Service, the After-Sales Service will inspect the item and verify the claim's validity. If the item is covered by the warranty terms, the product will be repaired or exchanged for a similar product (at our discretion) free of charge.

No additional warranty (other than legal) will be applied. In no event shall INTEX, its agents, and/or employees be liable for direct or indirect damages resulting from the use of the Sand Filter (including product manufacturing). Some countries or jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.

This limited warranty does not apply under the following circumstances:

  • If the Sand Filter is subject to negligence, abnormal use, accident, malfunction, incorrect voltage, or contrary to the instructions for use, maintenance, or storage;
  • If the Sand Filter is subjected to damage by circumstances beyond INTEX's control, including but not limited to normal wear and tear, and damage caused by exposure to fire, frost, rain, flooding, or any other external environmental factor;
  • For parts and components not sold by INTEX; and/or
  • Unauthorized modifications, repairs, or disassembly of the Sand Filter by anyone other than personnel from INTEX SAV centers.

Costs resulting from pool water loss, damage caused by chemical treatment products or water are not covered by this warranty. Injuries or material damage are in no case covered by this warranty.

Read this manual carefully and follow all instructions for proper use and maintenance of your Sand Filter. Always check your equipment before each use. The warranty may be voided if instructions are not followed.
