GDW Tow Bar for Alfa 147 (01/2005 onwards)
Model: GDW Ref. 1513
EEC Approval: e6*94/20*0531*00
Towing Capacity Calculation:
D = (max kg × max kg) / (max kg + max kg) × 0.00981 ≤ 8.02 kN
Max. S/ = 60 kg
Max. Towing Capacity = 1450 kg
Installation Instructions
- Disassemble the bumper, remove the exhaust and heat shield at the rear, and remove the spare wheel and inner coating inside the vehicle.
- Remove the bitumen coating from the trunk floor where the mounting plates (2 right, 1 left) are located. An indentation will appear, serving as the marking point. Place mounting plates (2 right, 1 left) with points (A) on the vehicle's center points. Drill points (B) on the left side and (C) on the right side with ø10.5mm. Insert bolts and place counter-plates (3) and nuts on the underside of the base plate without tightening.
- Permanently remove the two internal plastic buffer blocks located at the rear of the bodywork. Drill points (G) and (F) with ø10.5mm. For point (F), enlarge the hole on the rear of the bodywork plate to ø20mm using a hole saw. Insert filling tubes (4) into the enlarged holes, then insert bolts and washers without tightening.
- If the tow bar is equipped with the removable T35 system, first assemble the pedestal onto the tow bar. For the standard T43 ball, simply insert the bolts.
- Drill points (E) on the left side and (D) on the right side with ø12.5mm. Position the tow bar using points (E) and (D) onto the drilled holes. Insert bolts and tighten everything firmly (refer to torque specifications).
- Make an incision in the heat shield as shown in the provided drawing. Replace the heat shield and the exhaust, then re-assemble the bumper onto the vehicle.
- Mount the standard T43 ball and tighten it securely (refer to torque specifications).
Disassembly of the Bumper
- 4 bolts at the trunk entrance
- 2x1 screw on the top of the splash-board
- 2x1 screw at the bottom of the splash-board
- 2x2 bolts in the wheel case, vertically in the bodywork
- 3 small bolts at the bottom of the bumper

Bumper Cutout Description
The document specifies cutting a section from the heat shield. The area to be cut is indicated by hatching in the accompanying diagrams. 'B' refers to the bumper, 'O' to the lower rim of the bumper, and 'M' to the middle of the bumper.
Clearance and Vehicle Weight Requirements
Diagrams illustrate clearance specifications and vehicle weight limits. The clearance must conform to Appendix VII, diagram 30 of guideline 94/20/EG. Specific dimensions are provided: minimum clearances of 32mm, 55mm, 65mm, 140mm, and maximum angles of 30° and 45°. A maximum distance of 100mm is also indicated. The diagrams also show maximum radii (R14.5, R40) and a range of 350-420mm. These requirements apply to the permissible total weight of the vehicle.
Important Notes
- Consult your dealer or owner's manual for the maximum permissible towing mass.
- Remove any bitumen coating or anti-vibration material from the fastening points.
- Exercise caution when drilling to avoid damaging brake lines, electrical wiring, or fuel lines.
