Product Overview
This document provides installation instructions for the GDW tow bar (Reference 1277) for the Alfa Romeo 147, model years 2001 onwards. The tow bar is designed to be mounted to the vehicle's chassis.
A detailed technical drawing shows the assembly of the tow bar components, including mounting brackets, the tow ball assembly, and various fasteners. The drawing references specific mounting points (A, B, C, D) used in the installation steps.
Installation Instructions
- Disassemble the exhaust system, heat shield, and remove the floor and side panel covering from the vehicle's trunk.
- On the upper side of the base plate, remove the bitumen coating where mounting pieces (-g) and (-f) will be attached. This will reveal an indentation on the base plate, serving as the centering point (A). Position the mounting pieces (-g) and (-f) using point (A) on the centering points. Drill holes at points (B) with ø8.5mm and insert bolts. Attach the mounting slats (-h) and nuts to the underside of the base plate without tightening them yet.
- Assemble component (*) and tighten firmly.
- Drill holes at points (C) with ø12.5mm. Align the tow bar so that its points (C) match the drilled holes. Insert all bolts and tighten them securely.
- Make an incision in the heat shield to accommodate the tow bar. Reinstall the exhaust system, heat shield, and trunk interior trim.

Note: When drilling, be careful not to damage any brake lines, electrical wiring, or fuel lines.
