Devolo Magic LAN Adapter Installation Guide
Part A: Installation via App
Download the devolo Home Network app. An installation wizard will guide you through the configuration step-by-step.
If you prefer to perform the installation without the app, follow the steps in Part B.

Part B: Manual Installation
Step B1: Connect the Adapter
Connect the devolo Magic LAN adapter to a free wall socket. Wait until the LED quickly flashes white (approximately 15 seconds).

Step B2: Initiate Pairing
Within 3 minutes, press the button on the side of your devolo Magic LAN adapter that is connected to the router.

Step B3: Encryption Process
The encryption process occurs automatically. During this time, the LEDs of both adapters flash white.

Step B4: Completion
The process is complete when all LEDs on the devices light up solid white. This process takes a maximum of 3 minutes.

Understanding LED Indicators and PLC Button
The PLC button on the devolo Magic LAN adapter controls pairing and factory resets.
PLC Button Action | Duration | LED Behavior | Result |
---|---|---|---|
Start pairing with other devolo Magic adapters | 1 second | Flashes white | Initiates pairing |
Reset devolo adapter to factory settings | > 10 seconds | Lights up red | Resets adapter |
LED Behavior Descriptions:
- Lights up white: The devolo Magic LAN adapter is working perfectly and is connected to other devolo Magic adapters.
- Quickly flashes white: The adapter is currently establishing a pairing connection with another adapter.
- Flashes red: The adapter has a poor Powerline connection.
- Slowly flashes white: The adapter is in standby mode.
- Alternately flashes white and red: The adapter is currently undergoing a software update.
- Lights up white and then briefly flashes red: The adapter is currently in the start-up process.
- Lights up red: The adapter cannot see any other devolo Magic adapters or has a connection issue.
- None (LED off): The adapter has no LED function because it was disabled by the user.
Help: Manual Pairing
If automatic pairing during initial installation was unsuccessful, you can perform manual pairing of the Magic adapters.
Manual Pairing Steps:
- Connect the devolo Magic LAN adapter to a free wall socket and wait until the LED flashes white (approximately 15 seconds).
- Within 3 minutes, press the button on the side of your devolo Magic LAN adapter that is connected to the router.
- Next, press the button on your new Magic LAN adapter.
- Pairing is completed successfully as soon as all LEDs on both adapters light up solid white.
