2. How to Insert the Memory Card
It is highly recommended to use a 16GB to 128GB (MAX) card, and choose a reliable and genuine brand of the classic 10 micro SD card for the W4 camera, such as SanDisk/Kingston.
Card Format: ≤32GB cards should be formatted with FAT32; ≥64GB cards should be formatted with exFat.
Inserting Card Direction: The micro SD card should be inserted with the contacts facing downwards and the label facing upwards. An upward arrow indicates the insertion direction.
3. Time/Date Setting
The W4 camera supports turning on or disabling the time and date stamp for video and photo files.
Steps for guidance:
- Connect the camera to the PC. The camera will automatically generate four files: "time" txt file, "VIDEO" folder, "AUDIO" folder, and "PHOTO" folder.
- Enter the "time" txt file to set the correct time and save.
The "year" is 4-digit, and the others (month, day, hour, minute, second) are 2-digit. The second character 'Y' in the time string means turn on the time stamp/tag for video files. If changed to character 'N', the video will have no tag/timestamp.
For Windows Computer: Double-click the "time" txt file to open and edit it. The file will appear in Notepad.
For Mac OS system Device: Right-click the "time" txt file, choose "Open with", and select Text Edit software to open and edit the file.
After setting, turn on the camera to register the changes properly.
Note: If the camera is idle for a long time or the card is removed, settings may revert. Connect to the PC and follow the steps to set the correct time and save. After changes, power on the camera once for the settings to take effect. The time data in the "time" txt file may revert to default after saving, but the camera will record using the modified time.

Camera Storage Files Display: A visual representation shows typical file explorer windows displaying folders like "VIDEO", "AUDIO", "PHOTO", and files within them.
Note:
- Please eject the camera correctly from the computer, do not just unplug the cable.
- If the computer does not recognize the camera or the removable disk logo does not appear, reset the camera first, then re-plug it to try again.
6. Camera TXT File Setting on PC
After inserting the memory card into the camera and connecting it to the computer, the camera will auto-generate four files: "time" txt file, "VIDEO" folder, "AUDIO" folder, and "PHOTO" folder.
Double-click the "time" txt file to access the setting options.
Setting Options Description:
You can change the date and time to your preference. The format is: year (4-digit), month, day, hour, minute, second. Save the changes.
The second character 'Y' in the time string enables the timestamp/tag for video/photo files. Changing it to 'N' disables the timestamp.
The first 'Y' character (in a different context, potentially related to loop recording) means turn on the Loop Recording function; changing it to 'N' turns off Loop Recording.
The second 'Y' character (as mentioned before) means turn on the time stamp/tag of video/photo files; changing it to 'N' means no tag/timestamp.
Note: After changing settings, power on the camera once for the changes to be read and applied. The time data in the "time" txt file may revert to default after saving due to software design, but the camera will record using the modified time.
