Washer Dimensions
A diagram shows the dimensions of the Maytag Top-Loading Automatic Washer. The height is 42 inches (1067 mm). The width is 27 1/2 inches (699 mm). The depth is 27 inches (686 mm).
Recessed Area or Closet Installation
A diagram illustrates the required clearances for installing the washer in a recessed area or closet. The minimum width for the opening is 28 inches (710 mm), and the minimum height is 48 inches (1219 mm). The minimum depth is 25 inches (635 mm). The diagram also shows the required space for the water connections and drain hose, indicating a minimum depth of 17 inches (432 mm) for the recessed area and specific clearances for the recessed area or closet installation. Dimensions shown represent recommended spacing, allowing for closet door ventilation openings which are minimum requirements. This washer has been tested for installation with spacing of 6" (152 mm) clearance at the rear. Consider allowing more space for installation and service and space for the companion appliances and clearances for walls, doors and floor moldings. Add spacing of 6" (152 mm) at all sides of washer to reduce noise transfer. If a closet door is not used for the washer, top and bottom air openings in the door are required.
ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
A 120 volt, 60 Hz, AC only, 15- or 20-amp, fused electrical supply is required. A time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended. It is recommended that a separate circuit serving only this appliance be provided.
DRAIN SYSTEM
Drain system can be installed using a floor drain, wall standpipe, floor standpipe, or laundry tub. Select method you need.
Floor standpipe drain system
A diagram shows a floor standpipe drain system. The standpipe must be at least 39 inches (990 mm) high and no more than 96 inches (2.44 m) from the bottom of the washer. The minimum diameter for the standpipe drain is 2 inches (51 mm), with a minimum carry-away capacity of 17 gallons (64 L) per minute. If the installation height is greater than 96 inches (2.44 m), a sump pump system is needed.
Floor drain system
A diagram illustrates a floor drain system. This system requires a Siphon Break Kit (Part Number 285834), 2 Connector Kits (Part Number 285835), and an Extension Drain Hose (Part Number 285863), which can be purchased separately. The minimum siphon break required is 28 inches (710 mm) from the bottom of the washer. Additional hoses may be needed.
Wall standpipe drain system
A diagram shows a wall standpipe drain system. Requirements are the same as for the floor standpipe drain system.
Laundry tub drain system
A diagram depicts a laundry tub drain system. The minimum capacity for the laundry tub is 20 gallons (76 L). The top of the laundry tub must be at least 39 inches (990 mm) above the floor and no higher than 96 inches (2.44 m) from the bottom of the washer.
IMPORTANT: To avoid siphoning, no more than 4.5 inches (114 mm) of the drain hose should be inside the standpipe or below the top of the wash tub. Secure the drain hose with a cable tie.
