Washer Dimensions
The Maytag Top-Loading Automatic Washer has the following dimensions:
- Height: 42" (1067 mm)
- Width: 27 1/2" (699 mm)
- Depth: 27" (686 mm)
Diagrams illustrate the washer's dimensions and recommended spacing for installation.
Recessed Area or Closet Installation
For installation in a recessed area or closet, specific clearances are required:
- Minimum width for recessed area/closet: 3" (76 mm) on each side.
- Maximum depth for recessed area: 14" (356 mm).
- Minimum clearance from bottom of washer to top of recessed area: 5" (126 mm).
- Minimum ventilation opening for closet door: 48 sq. in. (310 cm²) at the top and 24 sq. in. (155 cm²) at the bottom.
It is recommended to allow additional space (1" or 25 mm on all sides) for ease of installation, servicing, and to reduce noise transfer. If a closet door or louvered door is installed, ensure top and bottom air openings are present.
Electrical Requirements
A 120-volt, 60 Hz, AC only, 15- or 20-amp fused electrical supply is required. A time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended. It is advised to provide a separate circuit for this appliance.
Drain System Options
The drain system can be installed using one of the following methods:
Floor Standpipe Drain System
- Minimum standpipe diameter: 2" (51 mm).
- Minimum carry-away capacity: 17 gal. (64 L) per minute.
- The top of the standpipe must be at least 39" (990 mm) high and no more than 96" (2.44 m) from the bottom of the washer.
- For installations higher than 96" (2.44 m), a sump pump system is needed.
Floor Drain System
This system requires a Siphon Break Kit (Part Number 285834), 2 Connector Kits (Part Number 285835), and an Extension Drain Hose (Part Number 285863), which can be purchased separately. Contact Maytag for ordering information. The minimum siphon break height is 28" (710 mm) from the bottom of the washer. Additional hoses may be required.
Wall Standpipe Drain System
Refer to the requirements for the floor standpipe drain system.
Laundry Tub Drain System
- Minimum capacity: 20 gal. (76 L).
- The top of the laundry tub must be at least 39" (990 mm) above the floor and no higher than 96" (2.44 m) from the bottom of the washer.
Important Note on Draining: To prevent siphoning, ensure no more than 4.5" (114 mm) of the drain hose is inside the standpipe or below the top of the wash tub. Secure the drain hose with a cable tie.
